@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I've always wondered what it is like living in Mobius, so i am here to ask:
What would you do if one day you woke up in Mobius or knothole and you were a mobian?
There is still a whole lot of hope in this young SatAm fan.

That question unfortunately is too vague.

You need to put in a few more details about this scenario.

Easy.

I would freak out for about a day or so. By the end of that I'd either be dead or roboticized. Or there is a slight chance I would be living in Knothole trying to figure out what happened but most likely I'd be roboticized or dead.

Depends on the variables of the situation, but the basics would likely be as follows:

1: Check and see if anything made the transition with me. The more of my stuff that I have, the more I immediately have to offer. Especially true if my rifle and ammo also made the trip. Also true simply for my various tools, and truck. The less stuff that came with me, the more careful I'd have to be and the more I'd have to mooch off of the others at first.

2: Check what part of the time stream I've arrived in. It it were to happen some time during the events of SatAM, I'd have information that could be useful. I don't really subscribe to the "don't screw with the time stream" philosophy, anyhow...

3: Put my experience as a manual laborer and former farmhand to use. No sense in expecting to jump into the action. At least, not right away. And it'd be easier for them to trust a stranger who's willing and able to earn his keep. And I may've picked up a few farming tricks that they don't know...

4: See if the transition has left me with any cool new abilities. This need not be super-powers. Stuff like heightened senses from the whole "Mobians are animal people" thing would be cool. Or even just the restoration of my eyesight.

5: Enjoy the fact that most everyone else in town would be as short as me. Tall people suck.

I take offence to that good sir. Not really we do suck. And bang our heads on doorways, have to kneel to use drinking fountains, and break holes in the ceiling whenever we strech.

Am I the only one who would be freaked out and scared if they woke up in a different universe specifically if changed during the process?

You forgot "give short people an inferiority complex"...

Perhaps. It probly helps that some of us aren't exactly too attached to the state of our lives in this universe. Personally, I think I'd enjoy being something other than human...

Well I guess it would be quite enjoyable if it was done willingly or by my choice. Spontaniously I think it woud be freaky beyond all reason.

I think it'd be more disorienting than anything else... Of course, it also depends on the individual. If you're more prone to freaking out in unfamiliar or stressful situations, then yes, it would certainly be more likely to freak you out. Or if you have stuff like strong attachments to family and a lot of friends or something... Or generally if life here is good enough to you... My biggest concern would be my dogs. But my family's become attached to them, as well, so I know that they'd be well-cared for in my absence.

On the Outpost 31 forums, there's a divide by those of us who'd welcome assimilation and those who'd rather end up killing themselves before it could be completed. The situation of this topic probly isn't quite that strongly divided (what with there not being a perception of "becoming a mobian = destruction of who you really are" as a possible [if not outright likely] outcome of the situation), but there may well be a distinct divide between those of us who'd embrace the change and those who would find it difficult or impossible to adjust to it...

Of course, it could also depend on the precise nature of the situation. Waking up as a mobian could be a lot more stressful if you found yourself in the midst of an attack or something. Combined with the fact that it would take a while to get used to one's new body, that could very well lead even those of us who'd otherwise welcome the change to freak out.

Personally, I'd think it would be pretty freakin' awesome! But yeah, if it was during the events of SatAM, it would be an awfully dangerous place to be. And with no family or friends, I'd have to gain some trustworthy allies, quickly. If I ended up in Knothole as a mobian, I think the residents would be fairly quick to befriend me. If I retained my human shape, on the other hand, I highly doubt it.

Aside from my family and friends, I'd really miss my guitars and keyboards. I seriously get withdrawal if I can't play music for more than a few days. And I don't think I could even hold that weird-as-hell, rubbery, 3-string guitar Sonic has! laugh.gif

I think it was supposed to have melted since he was playing it so hard/fast. But seriously, Gaining Trust? Like every Mobian who shows up is trusted from the start by one Freedom Fighter or another. I don't think it would be hard to earn trust. Specifically if you make good Chili Dogs, you'd have Sonic won over like that.

Yeah, I getcha. But mobians have been traitors before, ya know. Ari's a prime example. Sure, he later made up for it, but he did betray Sonic. Just one trap like that, and I could be done for.

Everything has a melting point. What that said melting point is I dunno.

And I dunno about Ari much, but Sonic accepted him. And Griff was accepted by Sally no questions asked. Odds are one freedom fighter would trust you off the bat. Even more if you appeared after the Robotnik's supposed end.

Cartoon physics allow for stuff like that. Remember: you're dealing with someone who can apparently run at Mach 1+...

Hmmm...ok...let's see...

Shock number 1: I'm in a strange place.
Shock number 2: The animals can talk.
Shock number 3: I'm an animal.
Shock number 4: I can talk.

In the time it takes to register these facts one of two things will happen, either Sonic or Robotnik will find me at which point...

Shock number 5A: Wow he's fast!
or
Shock number 5A: Wow he's fat!

And this will eventually be followed by...

Shock number 6A: What...you want me to fight those?!?
or
Shock number 6B: Hedgehog priority one!

That also depends on where you appear. If they find you out wandering the woods or in robotropolis questions might be raised. However if they find you in Knothole... well different questions would be raised. And Antione would probally not like you. Though you are more likely to survive in Knothole then anywhere else.

A: Who cares what Ant thinks?
B: Ant's a coward. Give him a mean look and he'll be too scared to bother you.
C: Yes, location would have an impact. Especially if they run into you in Robotropolis. Or if you emerge from the caverns under there or somewhere. The woods may not be so much of a problem, as they might figure that you were just hiding out there or something.

Yeah but that doesn't mean when your freaking out you don't run head first through them.

This Should be a video game: The Player Character Awakens on mobius as the ever so popular amnesia-hero, not remebering their past. They are quickly discovered by the freedom fighters with whome they team up with to take down Robotnik and try uncover the player's mysterious past. (You would design your mobian Similarly to KotoR or Mass Effect).
