Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

So apparently a Russian Telecommunications company chose a mascot that looks fairly close to Sonic. Check it out here in this NIFTY Russian page

QUOTE
Sega’s lawyers are sure to get a kick out of this, as are haters of Sonic’s design in Sonic 4. Think green eyes are bad? Try a green body.

That, above all else, is what Russian telecom giant MegaFon is apparently using to differentiate its new mascot from the blue dude we know and love. You can see a picture of the concoction in our story photo above, and at this page. Like Sonic (at least in the eyes of some), this hedgehog appeals to children–an odd premise considering MegaFon is Russia’s second largest cell phone operator. Like cigarettes, you have to hook ‘em early.

Kidding aside, the green Sonic-esque figure made an appearance as part of a kindergarten contest asking young ones to draw their own mascot for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It’s not clear whether this hedgehog was the result of that contest, but it if was, you better start microwaving that popcorn now–watching Sega sue a child for copyright infringement when they haven’t yet touched those principally responsible for leaking Sonic 4 ought to be fun to watch.

Dunno if Sega can sue. Mainly depends on if the Russian courts are gonna care. China is infamous for being really lax on copyright and trademarks. Russia might be lax on that stuff, too, considering the bad shape it's been in since the fall of the USSR.

Oh I doubt they would get anywhere with suing. Just a interesting thing really.

I honestly don't think that they can sue. There's so many "differences" that it can be claimed as an original character.

I think there are sufficient similarities for a lawsuit. It's impossible to look at it and not be reminded of Sonic. One would be hard-pressed to think of another character that it resembles so strongly. It's just that I'm not sure a lawsuit would get anywhere in Russia.

*snerk* Great...now all they need is some mustached guy who bears a striking resemblance to our favorite Italian plumber, and it'll be Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games for REAL!

At least now we know it's not just bad fanartists who use Sonic recolors to make new characters. l3;

OMG IT'S SCOURGE GETTING HIS OWN SPOTLIGHT!!!! He knows that cell phones sell better than video games nowadays so he's trying to be a star in the more wide-spread devises that warp people's minds!

*Ahem* All kidding aside, if Sega doesn't try to sue, I'd be surprised. Though honestly, if those eyes were blue I'd swear it's Scourge, just without the shades and jacket. (aka Anti Sonic from the Archie Comics in case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about.)

Makes me wonder who owns the copyrights to Scourge: Sega or Archie? Because if it's Archie we know how they're into lawsuits right now xD.png

Sega owns Scourge. Basically any character created for the Sonic comic (and SatAM and Underground and AoStH and Fleetway for that matter) is considered a "byproduct" of the Sonic games and as such Sega owns the rights to it. I also saw this on a Pog that carried Sally's pic on it...it said © Sega, not DIC.

BTW...I still wonder why the phrack they called him Scourge. They already HAD an official (sort of) name circling for a green recolored Sonic...that name being ASHURA!

A sonic 2 graphic bug, when sonic turns green and his lighter blue turns black.

You have to use Debug Mode, which is normally used to alter the look/item placement of some stages. Now...I don't remember EXACTLY how to do this, but apparently placing some item near Sonic and moving him through it causes the color change.
