When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

So if you go here you will see SEGA's first Kinect release. Hey! Its Sonic! Cool! Till you realize its just a stupid racing game with Sonic characters. Its.. What I would call a cheap release. SEGA is just using its front man Sonic as a jump start on anything Kinect related they do. Which hey, thats fine, however I think they could have done a bit more into it.

Now I haven't played this game, I'm just reading stuff on it and watching some video's, but in my opinion its cheap. This might be their test at new technology and what not but I still figure they could have tossed out something better then a damn race game. Make a Sonic fight game, punch and kick Robotnic.. Something you know, Sonic related. I'm not sure how many times Sonic decided to race around the city on a hover board in the past but I don't think it was that often.

However as much as I dislike how this game is I will say that the Kinect is pretty damn awesome. If SEGA is just using this title to test out the waters I hope their next title (hopefully another Sonic one) is a lot better.

Anyways this is in the news topic because I would like to ask you all something. Do you own a kinect? If so, would you play a more interactive Sonic game on that? Or would you rather stick to the controller and button mashing?

Personally I'm not big on the whole interactive scene thats coming out. I'm a fan of sitting on my couch with a beer and playing a game with a controller. I'm lazy! But I guess there is some market in it seeing as they keep pushing all of this technology. Lets just hope some better games come out for it. Sonic Colors can only pull SEGA through so much.

Oh and go buy a Sonic Umbrella for $225 US while you are at it. Then you can race around on your hover board AND stay dry.

I can understand why they would release this sonic game for Kinect, and it's for reason's you've already stated. It's wise for sega to put their front man Sonic on an important release such as this. In reality it's not going to hurt anything to have Sonic on that board. Sure, they could've left him out and put some random dude up there, but why not stick to what people know. 1) They relate Sonic with Sega and 2) he's popular. So they want their opening Kinect game to be a Sonic game, which brings us to reason #2: I don't believe a regular sonic adventure type game would work well on the Kinect. This is the great advantage that Kinect has over Wii. The Wii was a brilliant system that overcame the barrier of the button and actually brought you into the game, but it did have a flaw, that was the only way to play on the Wii. Any game that came out on the Wii used these motion controls. Like you said Chief, sometimes you just wanna mash buttons. I played Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii and the motion controls were just plain annoying. This is where the Kinect is doing things right. It's not a new system, just an add-on for the Xbox 360. This means that games that would be GREAT as a motion game can use the Kinect, while great button, mashing titles, like Sonic, can stick to the classic controller.

So to sum up such a long answer, It doesn't bother me that they did this. They needed someone to bring Sega to the Kinect and who better to do it than Sonic.

I haven't played Free Riders yet, nor do I own a Kinect (let alone a 360 xD.png), but from the reviews I've seen its the most solid Kinect launch title next to Kinect Sports. The track design is unique and colorful, the graphics are visually stunning, and the control generally works. It can be wonky at certain times and I also hear that the story mode is rather lame and the menu interface is frustrating. Its seems its still a decent Sonic game and is worth checking out.

I don't own a Kinect, nor have I seen anything in its software library that particularly makes me want to get one (except "Kinectimals", but I'm just a sucker for small cats with big eyes >3>). "Sonic Riders", meanwhile, looks positively dreadful, and I've heard unkind things about its controls.
The central question of whether Sonic could work on Kinect is an interesting one, but as it stands I'd have to say "no". The main reason why is inherent to the hardware: no one has yet figured out how to compensate for the Kinect's lack of controller-based interface of any kind (as opposed to the Wii or Move, which combine motion controls with buttons, d-pads, and analog sticks) in terms of constructing a game with real depth to it. Even if we assume a "Sonic and the Secret Rings"-style set-up with Sonic constantly in motion, I can't imagine it'd be much fun to just move from side to side on your own, nor can I imagine how the camera could effectively track jumps or homing dashes.

Give them a break, it's not like they could make a real sonic game for the Kinect without shipping a treadmill along with it.

But you gotta admit.. If a game came with a treadmill that would be pretty awesome. Especially if they only charged 50 bucks for the thing still.

I don't plan to get a Kinect any time soon, to busy with everything else I missed out on.

I have to agree that a racing game is probably the best possible game they could come up with for this type of technology, next to a Mortal Kombat themed game, which actually would really irritate me. I guess this is just my excuse to get a kinect and see if it really plays that good. It friggin' better be better than Sonic Rivals was, cause that was just painful to play.
