Sonic Colors

Now I haven't played the game but I have read all the hype on the internet about it. Ive also seen some of the video's and they look pretty good. Much better then the last few Sonic games Ive seen. Hell, Sonic game mods have been having more of a front line in the game department then actual Sonic games recently, example being this Sonic 1 mod where you play as Sally. Can Sonic Colors pull Sonic of that downward spiral? Should I even waste my money on buying this game?
With the Sonic world going through some stupid stuff, such as the Archie and Ken Penders lawsuit it would be nice to have at least 1 good thing going on.
So what are your views on it?

I'd say rent it if you want to play through it once and don't plan to backtrack and find all the hidden goodies.

The boss fights are pretty easy though, The first boss took less than a minute for my first time through and the final boss I beat on the first try. That's probably the only Con of this game.
Going for the S ranks does take some effort so there's another challenge right there.
Lastly the new voices want to not make you skip the cut scenes because they are so much better than they were before.
If Sega follows the Colors level design format for the 20th anniversary game & puts more challenge into the boss battles, then that game should be golden for all sonic fans.

An7imatt3r is my XBL gamer tag. I can also be found on Steam by searching it as well.

The only things that bugs me is that the backgrounds seemes to be so crowded with stuff, just because the technology allows it.
Also, I hope that the 3Dview is there for a reason, and not for that reason meantioned above.
I'd like to see a pure side scrolling game using modern technology sometime :3

EASILY the best console Sonic title of the decade. They've taken pretty much everything that works from "Sonic Unleashed" (that is to say, the daytime stages where you play as normal Sonic) and made it better. The Wisp power-ups allow the stages to have a lot more depth and flexibility than past Sonic titles, and they control quite well for the most part. Sonic himself is likewise a blast to play as; you get the handle of things fairly quickly, and once you do it becomes very satisfying to homing-dash your way through a streak of enemies or slide under obstacles and the like. The stages are well-built, with lots of hidden areas that can only be reached with specific Wisp powers you unlock throughout the game providing them replay value and a nice, even-handed challenge level. It DOES hinge a bit on trial-and-error at times, but for the most part it never leans too heavily on it.
The voice acting is also DRAMATICALLY improved from the last few games. Our new Sonic really has personality and flair, showing off a bit of that old-school attitude many of us have missed over the years, and the script is likewise quite enjoyable with its lighthearted sense of humor and nice, quick pace.
Admittedly, there are some problems. For one thing, I can already tell this game's going to be pretty short in the longrun; I just cracked it open today, and I'm already almost half-way done. The Red Rings and a bizarre but enjoyable multiplayer mode where you play as robot Sonics to unlock special bonuses will probably add some time to it overall, but it still seems a little too short to me. This is exacerbated by how the Wisp abilities unlocked throughout the game are used; because you can't use certain Wisp powers until after you've unlocked them, there are a lot of areas in stages you can't access 'til you get the right Wisp power. Most of the time, this is fine; it just makes you know to revisit once you have the right powers and gives the game a solid sense of replayability. The problem is that there are also times where it renders some stages WAY too short; there's one stage in the first act you can successfully clear in under half-a-minute, since the only things of value to be gained when you first go there are pretty much all out of reach since you don't have the right Wisp powers yet.
Still, on the whole, "Colors" is shaping up to be a LOT of fun, and definitely a strong step forward for the Sonic franchise. I truly believe, if SEGA knuckles under and starts REALLY pushing this model of Sonic games, we could see an outright classic finally emerge from the Sonic series again; for now, I'm more than happy to content myself with what is a damned fun game.
Grade (so far): A-
