When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Know in Japan as Evangelion, New Theatrical Edition: Break, CINEMA ASIA RELEASING, ELEVEN ARTS and FUNimation Entertainment bring Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance to only 100 screens in the United States. This movie is a sequel to the film Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, which retells the 1995 hit Japanese television series Neon Genesis Evangelion.

For those of you who are a fan of the English dub, FUNimation managed to bring back Spike Spencer as the voice of Shinji Ikari and Allison Shipp-Keith as Misato Katsuragi. The sequel also reintroduces into the series the character Asuka Langely... Shikinami (that's different), as well as a series of entirely new characters piloting entirely new Evangelion Units battling entirely new Angels. No word yet as to who else is casted for the English voices for these guys. (Even Asuka's English voice hasn't been announced yet.)

For fans of the Japanese cast, it's the same as the 1995 cast for the TV series. No worries there.

So, yeah. Major changes on the horizon for fans of the old Evangelion TV series.

Already seen the subbed Japanese version. What can I say, I went in expecting a badly diluted remake of the series and walked away eating my words. It's certainly lighter in tone (as in 'more hopeful', not necessarily 'less serious') and heavily abridged, but everything that made me love the series is still there. It's awesome.

I still haven't seen it yet. I'm still kind of a romantic about seeing movies for the very first time in theaters, which is why I'm completely STOKED about this news! I'm not a huge fan of English dubs of foreign films, but I'll forgive it if it means seeing this on the big screen.

But most of those I know who saw it also liked it. There was only one person I know who hated this movie, and it was because it didn't feel like as much like an animated Stanley Kubrick film like the original series did near it's end. I'm still very excited, though! I have been since seeing the original Japanese trailer a while back.

I never saw the first one...guess I should. I usually prefer the subs over dubs, but that's only because the dub quality is usually sub-par at best. If the voice acting on a dub is good then I'll watch it and enjoy it.

English Dubs all the way for me on this one - Misato is not Misato without Allison Keith!

Very excited to see this. It's been a very long time coming. The first one was quite good, it felt much tighter in the story telling department compared to the original series (not that there was anything wrong with the original), and it did throw me rather unexpectedly with the early reveal of Kaworu at the end of it. So, I have me some high hopes that 2.0 continues to surprise me with some new takes on this brilliant little series.

I have my fingers crossed for Tiffany Grant coming back for Asuka.

Ive watched all of Evangelion and the original movies. Needless to say, I'm not watching any of the new remakes. Why? Well I watched part of the first movie and it pretty much just re does the first so many episodes of the series. I mean it might go more in depth or something I dunno I stopped watching after 20 minutes or so.

The show ended when they did the last original movie. I don't need any more or care to ever see any more.

The first of the new films pretty much is faithful to the original anime frame for frame but the second begins to diverge. I won't say it's better or worse (it's very very good), but it does do things different.

I don't see why she can't voice Asuka. Tiffany has worked at FUNimation for quite some time now, and it would be kind of silly for the company to overlook her for someone else.

Yeah, that was one of the things that kind of annoyed me about the movie as well. It was good, but good by default of the TV series. There were slight changes made to the story later on in the film, and they seem to promise bigger changes in the second film (and it does change dramatically in the second film), but they were still only very slight changes and didn't effect the viewing experience that much.

The best way to watch the first movie is just as if you wanted to rewatch the series. The following films should compensate you for sitting through stuff you've already seen. And all of this would have been a little more obvious if FUNimation kept the original Japanese title to the first movie Evangelion, New Theatrical Edition: Prelude, suggesting that the film preludes all of the changes made later on in the series. But instead they renamed it Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone for some reason, and now we're all expecting something new and exciting.

The biggest change in the first movie story wise is that
Spoiler:
Misato actually shows Shinji the Lilith nailed to the giant red cross right before the battle with the big blue diamond "Ramiel". The first time Shinji saw Lilith in the original series, it already looked kind of like Rei/Yui, and it was in the last movie where everyone was "dying". Also Kaworu is revealed right after the battle with Ramiel, rather than just having one rushed episode right before everyone "died".

There are a few cinematic changes as well, but the only difference is that you can tell Hideaki Anno directed Love & Pop in between the two Evangelion franchises. (With the camera sliding around on the ground looking up at stuff.)

Awkward bump for an update on theatrical releases. Don't worry, I'm thoroughly punishing myself for double-posting by wearing shirts with itchy tags.

Evangelion 2.0 gets one-day theatrical screening across Canada January 20, 2011. Check your local theaters for times. Not that anyone in Canada seems to care on this site, but there it is. tongue.gif

No word yet on exact U.S. or Australian theatrical screening dates.

Must see this. Though, I highly doubt Australia will see cinema screenings of this. Will probably have to wait for the DVD, as usual.

Closest screen for me is all the way in Greensboro, NC. That's a 2-hour drive from where I live. A screening closer to Raleigh would be amazing, but......

It looks like it already screened in Australia, albeit at only one anime festival.

Itchy shirt tags are itchy, but Funimation releases their official trailer for the movie, along with a list of theaters showing the film. More theaters will be added soon!
