Really? I heard good things about it. It might be overrated, but is it still good? I was thinking about renting it.

Sure, a fuckton of people went to see it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they all thought it was a thoroughly awesome film, so I wouldn't judge by something like box office figures even though it's the highest grossing film of all time. I'd expect the crazy high gross to have more to do with the kind of film it was than how good a film it was.
Speaking of high-grossing films, I do think The Dark Knight was a bit overrated. I do think Heath Ledger had an awesome Joker, though, and I don't think his death had any effect on my opinion (I was not sold on his Joker in the least until I was actually watching the film). Problem is, there was this thing called "the rest of the movie"...

Give it a few years and it'll seem as corny

'Brokeback Mountain' is another one... take out the gayness and it's another lame-ass romance story with death thrown in to make people cry (I didn't)
I'm not sure if a lot of people actually like any of those movies, but the way the critics raved about them, you'd think they were the best thing since microwave popcorn or something.
Dark Knight and Avatar I agree with too... I did like them both, but I don't think they're the best ever. I know there's a few other movies but I can't remember them right now.

You may enjoy it, I found it boring. The movie managed 97% on rotten tomatoes, yet I don't think it belongs anywhere near there. Perhaps I am missing the point of the movie, like I apparently did with Inglorious Basterds (which I thought was even worse and I only watched a third of it).

Almost everyone who I knew who saw it, say it said it was amazing beyond all belief. I had a college prof reccomend it. Maybe because it has been out for a while more and more people are hearing about those who weren't blown away, but when it came out it was unheard of.

Scott Pilgrim for sure, I've had people bugging me saying it's awesome, but I've read some of the books and I utterly despise the characters, so I wouldn't be able to sit through a movie with them.

The review in that link was the most truthful review I've read about Avatar, as I feel the same way about that movie, I couldn't even stand to watch all of it I got so bored. So that one for sure I'd say is overrated. I've had so many people tell me it's so cool, best movie ever, and when I saw it I was like: WTF? This has so many things taken from other movies, and I just tried to wait for it to get better, and just got tired of waiting.
Dark Knight was another. Yeah, it was ok, but seriously it was not the best one ever. Honestly I can't stand Christian Bale as Bruce/Batman.
Terminator Salvation: You can't have a Terminator Movie without Arnold so the movie was doomed from the start, enough said.

Well, he sort of did. Remember the scene with the first T-800? Still, it was only for a little bit.

You can't say it is overated if you didn't watch it. Watch the movie, then you can complain all you want (I thought it was awsome, I like Scott in the movie more than in the books).
I saw part of whatever-his face-is's Day Off. yeah. overated. it sucked.

I hope if anyone here liked this movie, they don't feel like I'm insulting them. I just bounced off this, hard.

He's also jerk on set, which is kind of funny when you think about it. Though to be honest, nobody on the set of T4 was very professional. Stupidity begets more stupidity.
I don't know. I've never seen Sam Worthington play a role convincingly. He just seems to fall into the "serious acting" cliche to much. He's almost as bad as Christian Bale in that regard with the whispering monologues and stuff, just probably not as obvious. Either way, his acting just doesn't appear honest to me.
Believe it or not...
