I can't really think of many, though. Castle of Cagliostro comes to mind, 'cause it's not a good Lupin film and it doesn't really seem to be particularly great even if I try to judge it on its own merits. A lot of anime fans love it, though...

Ha what are you implying?
It's all dependent on the viewer and what they're expecting/looking for when it comes to ratings really. But-
I think Hitchcock is overrated though. He made some good movies, but he also made a few that are only outdone in convoluted-ness by their power to induce boredom, but which critics can't seem to pry their lips from the rectum of anyway. VERTIGO comes to mind.
Yeah, it's cool that we can have anti-social self absorbed heroes on the screen now. Gotta love Sherlock Holmes. The mystery was REALLY weak in that movie though.

But if you're in on it, you can make it." - Vincent Price

...And this thread really shouldn't be in the animated section.
Believe it or not...

I agree with you, there. A lot of my friends were a bit disappointed with it, too. But, to me, the most overrated film I've seen (besides Avatar) is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I know a lot of people see it as a classic, but what I saw was a movie about some rich, manipulative, slacker. After seeing the Nostalgia Critic's review, my opinion was just reinforced.

Another one that I would have to say is Alice in Wonderland. The computer animation was wonderful but I found the story to be lacking. It was a one time show for me.

One quality of a true masterpiece is a film that can appeal to all ages. Look at many of Disney's classics. Yeah, they were cartoons and made for children, but they appeal to all ages and now, many years later, we can still watch them and enjoy them just as much now as we did then.

Exactly! I remember seeing it when I was a little kid, and thought it was just awesome. It had Looney Tunes and freakin' Michael Jordan! How did I miss that horrible writing?

Ah, yeah.
Avatar... it was beautiful... I just didn't care for the story all that much. Not a bad movie by any means, I just don't think it's one of the greatest ones out there... Actually, a friend talked me into seeing it, and every time I say "Eh, it was ok," she tells me I always have to critique everything. It's hilarious.

One possible quality more like
S'why I've found myself actually enjoying the original Star Trek more now than I ever did as a kid. I've been a Trek fan my whole life* but as a child I had trouble understanding why the future was sooooo slllllooooowww.
*Being a pre-schooler who liked Scotty because of his mustache and Geordi La Forge because I recognized him from Reading Rainbow counts right?
...And yes, I'd wear an engineering insignia if I ever had to choose between the 3, not fool enough to put on the red uniform though.
