When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

It's not totally unheard of for American animation (or even regular film) to start a series "in medias res." Anime is harder for me to get into because the storytelling is so different. Rather than tell a story along a western "linear" line of thinking in which the characters are tied to a solid plot, anime seems to have a lot of dribble dialogue where characters express heavy emotional content. That's not always a bad thing, but in Anime it can slow down the pace a lot for me.

Animes are usually much faster then the Manga they are based upon. To make up for that fact, extra content is added into the Anime to slow it down, this can be as simple as more dramatic scenes or as annoying as FILLER ARCS!

This is the reason Dragon Ball Z took nearly 20 episodes to defeat one badguy because the Manga it was based upon was being written AT THE SAME TIME.

Yet another reason why Hayao Miyazaki's movies are a better introduction to anime than anything else. He rarely bases his movies on manga unless it's a manga he wrote himself. (Naussica, for example.) I don't watch DBZ or Bleach for the very reason of filler arc. I just got tired of it after a while.

I also try to avoid Anime with large filler arcs, but I grew up with DBZ so I can't help watching that. Kai just took all the fun out of it.

hah, DBZ was my intro to Anime alongside Cowboy Bebop. Hated DBZ as a young teenager since, in my words at the time, "nothing interesting happens." Liked Cowboy Bebop better, but only because of the background music. Most of the characters were just so...weird.

I liked Gundam, Digimon, Pokemon, and DBZ. Now I watch DBZ mostly because it is fun to see it again. I still really like Gundam and other giant mecha animes. And I think I stopped liking the Pokemon anime after the original games. Now I hardly like the games.

There, I updated my movie list. A few more animated films found there way in there. Only 75 films so far since I really don't find a grand total of 100 movies to be inspiring to me yet. ("Grand total of 100"; isn't that technically the same thing?) Either that, or I'm just blanking out on a few great movies I've seen at the moment. It's not that I haven't seen or don't own 100 movies, but I just don't like "meh" movies in my inspirational film list.

There really should be somthing like a 10 item or less cutoff limit for lists... Really, most people don't care about more than that many... And lists like this are perty much "a rundown of every movie I've ever seen!" kind of thing... Hell, I'd be hard-pressed to properly fill out a top 10 movies list without revisiting my personal collection...

That's exactly what I had to do to fill out a list of 70+ films. I don't limit my lists, but you're right. Off the top of my head I'll only list about 5-10 movies and those are the only ones that really mattered to me at the moment anyway. And really the only time a movie became really important to me was when I would be script-writing or editing and go "Oh! Remember that one movie where they did that one thing? Let's try that one thing here and see if it works!"
