@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Pat Allee is still going through Ben's stuff. As was mentioned in a different topic most of the SatAM stuff should end up going Nique's way they from there being spread out.

The stuff released here was just something Nique found in one of her emails. Sadly all the other stuff that was sent was on the old email server for FUS Kentar (I think thats the company). That doesn't exist any more. This was dug out of her hotmail account.

So for now this is it. We will just have to wait and see whats dug up by Pat Allee.

But the fun part - is that left a colony out there that could discover a faster way to return - and that could remain as a possible story element

Them coming back would make things more interesting.

And that doesn't mean there aren't humans somewhere on the planet in some form

I think there should be a remnant of humans somewhere on Mobius. Why should Snively and Robotnik be the only ones left?

Makes sense to me. Maybe they could be survivors of the Great War and some of them be soldiers similar to those like from G.U.N.

The Great War on Mobius is another tale I wish Ben could have shed more light on.

I've seen Archie's version of it, but I'd like to see if he gave more insight to it during his lifetime.

Ben might have had more notes that he just didn't show me. This is all I have. There were things he didn't even tell me (Like what Dulcy's powers would be) but we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

I just wanted to tell you that the hardest thing I've faced
Wasn't the teasing or the pain
It was convincing myself I wasn't stupid, strange, or lame
And helping others do the same.

I was just thinking, if RockyRaccoon decided to register on FUS again, would he be allowed back on?

Anyway, I dig the "Nicole's an upload of a proper human idea", despite the fact that the sci-fie writer at me balks at the concept that a) a hivemind would HAVE to be something bad (for a well done beign hivemind, see Mars in the webcomic "A Miracle of Science" ) and cool.gif that she'd be incapable to find a solution that doesn't include sacrificing her own personality.

This could simply be due to a flaw in the design, similar to how the roboticizer wasn't meant to remove one's free will. So, perhaps Nicole got stuck with a "I must solve all problems" mentality as a result of the transfer? Or, perhaps it's a simple case of "too smart to think of or consider simplistic or 'stupid' solutions" (perty much the formula for every episode of Eureka)?

Forgot to mention that I like the idea of Sonic growing a maturing too because I also could find him a little annoying though being around the Freedom Fighters toned that down a little.

Finally got around to reading this today. It's a great idea that really continues on the central themes of the first two seasons. In season one we are introduced to the war, while Season 2 reveals through uncle chuck the concepts of free mind and free will. Ben's ideas almost "tie the knot" focusing on the necessity of free will against the hive mind, even if the hive isn't run by Robotnik.

Sonic's maturity is obviously a welcome change. Very rarely in cartoons does the hero ever have to think about what to do after he/she wins, I.E. Joseph Campbell's "Freedom to Live." In fact, I don't think it's ever really been touched on in many mediums of modern storytelling.

Typically, once one side has won, the story is over... It can be quite the difficult hurdle to write over, as it really does present the problem of "Now we've got heroes without a villain to fight. What the hell do we do with them, now?". To quote a line from Smokey & the Bandit 3: "What good is the Roadrunner without the Coyote?"

hell, that even happens in history. After the Norseman were driven back from the British Isles, a lot of the soldiers/knights were left with nothing to do with all their skills, and took to causing all sorts of horrible mischief. The First Crusade eased a lot of that tension for them (I realize that's a really simplistic summary of a lot of history, but you get the idea). Maybe Sonic would have been like those Knights after battle (cept probably without rapin' the women).

So, not to bump a year old topic, but did I miss a memo on this? Is Pat still going through the mountain of sticky notes, or does Nique have everything now, or did something go wrong? If it's a matter of not having time to transfer it all to a computer I'm sure there are people who'd be willing to help. If there's some big surprise planned I guess you don't have to say anything; I just want to know if I should keep holding my breath or if it's really over.

Maybe the reason they haven't is because they're going to use some of Ben's undisclosed notes in that Sonic fan film coming out later in the year.

Just a guess.

I'll just nip that in the bum now before it turns into a rumour: There has been no secretly discovered SatAM material from Ben's vault passed onto Eddie to include in his film. All that we have on Ben's notes is what you guys already know. There is nothing else so far.

I see...

Well, thanks for clearing that up.

I hope they do find more of his notes.

That just can't be all they found.

It is quite possible that there weren't that many "notes" at all...just ideas inside of Ben's head. If that's the case, it's quite sad that they're all lost now.

Based on what he told us, that's rather impossible.

Don't ever for a moment believe that ideas aren't percolating inside me every day. Not a day goes by that I don't jot another post-it to add to the very large pile (big thanks to the incredible fan who provided an entire box of them imprinted with an image of Sonic).

[22:11] <this_guy> Last year you talked about that if your plan for getting the third season of SATAM made fell through that you would write it up in narrative form and release it on the net. Do you still want to do this and if so when would they be released
[22:12] <Swriter> I think my phrasing was "might." Pardon me for fudging, but until all hope is extinguished - I'll not spill the beans on the (who knows if it will happen?) third season
[22:13] <Swriter> There's always hope.
[22:13] <Swriter> At least until I croak. Then, I could care less. LOL
[22:13] <SSNWadmanKiddo> If there's always hope, then that means logically we'll never see the spilled beans.
[22:13] <Swriter> JK
[22:14] <Swriter> Nah. I actually have a storyline and copious notes - and now with your question, I'll add to my will that they be released.
