I agree with anyone who mentioned these factors:
*Dulcy
*The shorts
*Rotor's redesign
*Kid-friendly animation style
This is my rant about the comparisions of season 1 and 2:
1st of all, yes it seemed that Dulcy was practically tossed into the season 2 cast with very little background. Even though in the episode Dulcy she would later be known as a protector for the dragon species, there's nothing really supporting her character. Except the fact she may be missing her mom since she mentions her a million times LOL. But as far as personality, yeah i could've seen more potential with Dulcy if season 3 would've been done. There could've been more depth into her personality and her background.
The shorts...omg...epic fail! Well, with the exception of Ghost Busted and Odd Couple, they were alright. I did lmao in Odd Couple a few times when Sonic was makin chili dogs at antoiine's crib. And Ghost Busted seemed a little cool with the whole Headless Gopher mystery haha. But Robecca and Fed Up With Antoine? Nuh-uh, they were the worst things to happen to SATam in my opinion. They were pointless, a waste of time and energy to the writers and animators.
Rotor was awesome in season 1. I liked his design, it made him more mature. And Mark Ballou's voice fit perfect for him too. Season 2's design of rotor was kind of a disappointment. There shouldn't have been a reason to completely change Rotor's image, he was cool the way he was.
Apparently there must've been some complaints about the SATam animation and plots being too "dark" for a children's show. Otherwise i'm sure it still would've been the same as season 1 and then there could've been a 3rd season. Then supposedly there was competition with the Power Rangers airing at that time and ratings started to drop. I say if the animation directors or producers (or whoever was in charge) would've kept the same flow then maybe the ratings wouldn't have plummeted. SATam was more entertaining with that edgy, semi-subtle, post-apocalyptic tone it had in season 1. I really loved that growing up as a teen.
However there are some good factors about Season 2. For starters, the episodes ran together like a storyline, as to where season 1 was just random plots or missions. I noticed Snively developed more as a character, showing that he also had a yearning for conquering Mobius and, like some of you said, he was waiting for him to fail so he can take over. Tails developed a bit more as well, finally getting acceptance into the freedom fighters for his intelligence. And of course last but not least, the cast has increased to more characters, like King Acorn, Ari, Lupe, Rosie, to name a few. I thought that was pretty interesting to see there were other freedom fighter groups around the world and not just the Knothole group.
Well, that's all i gotta say about my thoughts and rants about season 2 in comparison with season 1...for now. Tty guys later, peace
