@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

You find yourself in a room with very dim lighting. You see an audio tape cassette in front of you...you reach out to take it and press the play button.

"Hello. For years, you have lurked in this forum and only read the comments for your own content, never contributing to the greater good or making friends. You are a loner, a hermit, a leech. Now, we will see if you can contribute something of value. In sixty seconds, you internet connection will be permanently RIPPED open that is unless you can write an interesting story, true or not, about your chosen name in this forum. It can be true or not. Just remember...the choice is yours."

Realizing that you just paid for that awesome service, you immediately go to work totally placing your faith in the audio tape.

(This is TRUE by the way)

A long time ago, when Sonic wasn't with the Nike smile, I was typing a response on this forum and my Mom looked to see what I was typing. Lo and behold, she saw my username and thought it stood for Satan. I can to explain the meaning behind the SatAM in my user name...which was embarassing to say the least.>.<

Really nothing interesting behind my user name. When I joined back in 2001 this was my first ever board. It asked me for what user name I wanted (and because I'm not John thinking that it asked me to put my real name in), I decided to use my nickname. Chief isn't a commonly used nickname for me now, back in grade 9 it was though. People still call me Chief time to time, and I still use it for all of my gaming purposes. Actually.. that nicknames getting more and more popular at my work now.

The only really interesting thing about it is how the 'c' is in lower case and not upper case. Reason for that was I didn't want to join the board and have troubles with case sensitive stuff. Being the first board I ever belonged too I tried to keep everything simple. Ive had a few chances to capitalize the 'c'. We've done a few board moves, and only 1 board move managed to transfer everything over from the previous board (the last move we did). Actually.. Really I can capitalize it any time I want here.. But either way I decided that chief was just tradition and changing it to Chief would be weird. I'm rather..hmm.. I don't think superstitious is the right word but.. I don't like to change things that work.

Well...afraid nothing spectacular to mine. Mine's my first name. I actually had a lot of usernames over the course of my membership on FUS. xD.png And even more that I haven't used on this forum. ohmy.gif At any rate, nothing glamorous, my current one and the one I'll be taking to my grave with is my first name. smile.gif

My username Shadow I've only used around here for the sake of tradition. Back in 2003 I wanted a new username besides Genocyber.
The story behind it is really simple. I liked Sonic Adventure 2 when it came out and at the time I thought the char. was hot shit like everyone else so, I coined the name. Only reason I stuck with it so long was I could never think of a better name. Meh..Marama's is interesting.

chalcara's the nick I had in the first MUD I ever played, nearly eleven years ago. It stuck with it for forums and co, because it's rarely taken.

Originally I stole it from a minor character in what eventually became Traces of Chaos. The minor character grew over time and now people tend to assume its a "fursona", which is well... *facepalm*.

I tried to rename to my first name, but by now even my RL friends tend to call me chal/chalcara, so I'm used to it.

Nothing too interesting about my name: my name's Kef (well, technically that's my pseudonym, but never mind that) and I'm a furry.

I chose this name in 2001 because back then hardly anybody knew what a furry was, and I thought we could use some publicity. Then MTV and CSI happened, and now people think it means I like to fuck animals. Sheesh!

@furrykef, You mean you dont? tongue.gif

I'm struggling to remember where the name XJ came from originally, i'm pretty sure it was something me and my cousin came up with as a Jedi alter ego years and years ago, since then it became the name of a character in various things i've written. All of thats over now though as i dont write for my own stuff anymore.

Based on my my favorite pink hedgehog, Rosy the Rascal, before she became this: emot_amy.gif

sleep.gif I liked her better in her old image, hence the name whenever I see that version, I refer to that as Rosy, and the new image as Amy Rose.

Long ago, elsewhere on the internet, some people happened to meet and formed a roleplaying group. They had a good run, but after about 7 years, the well of RP ideas involving those people's characters had run dry. So, they set about working up new characters. However, life also began interrupting their ability to all be online at the same times, and eventually the group dissolved before the new RP set-up could come to fruition. Vlad was my new character, and was based on a different character, who I've been using in my writings that don't fit into any established series (until recently). He evolved again when we did our little RP in the chatterbox and 1000 pages topic. The name itself is quite simple: I've always liked the name "Vlad", and "Yvhv" is simply Muscogee for "Wolf" (yay for learning a dying language). I've always liked wolves, so that's why I chose that for his last name. It's my primary screen name wherever I go (though, I don't really go much of anywhere, these days). It's also an extremely unlikely combination, so I tend to not have to worry about having to bastardize the name by putting numbers at the end. Plus, it makes some people's heads explode when they try to figure out how to pronounce "yvhv".

Also, you can't permanently open a dial-up connection. All it takes to negate such attempts is unplugging the phone cord from the jack or modem.

Hey, furrykef, keeping the same name for so many years helped me realize you were the same guy that worked on the Alpha Centauri FAQ!

Mmmm, Alpha Centauri. I need to get that working again.

My username does not in anyway mean that I am, or ever will be, a fan of freaky films for any length of time. Nor does it imply that I am kinda freaky myself, or testify that I went to a freaky film school, where one of my film instructors certainly wasn't arrested for selling marijuana. (It's not funny, because the police didn't bust some if the students helping him at a Pizza Hut. I would not have wanted to have been there for that.)

Well, I didn't work on it per se, I just helped with trying to put it in wiki form. But yep, that sort of recognition is why I'm reluctant to change my handle after all these years...

I do believe I once recounted the story on the origin of my name, so I shall not repeat it. However, if one must know, I simply named myself after one of my own characters that I designed. But that story is no longer relevant.

In truth, I've taken the name and applied it fully to myself; it is now my true name. As soon as I have the chance to make the law see it that way as well, I shall take it.

My name is now and forevermore Misk.

My name was pretty much decided at random.. I used to go by Crimson Kitty but then changed it to salamander, I guess because I had grown up a bit since I chose that name and I wanted a new identity. I sort of feel the same way about my username now, but enough people know me now that it would be confusing if I changed it.
I guess it doesn't really matter what my username is, even if I don't feel like it represents me anymore, as long as it's what people know me as it's the same as any other username.

Mine's pretty straight forward if you remember my old avatar. I thought of it after watching Ali (2001) and noticed that more than half his wins were from knockout punches. They called him 'The Greatest' for a reason. smile.gif

Well not like anyone cares about a newbie like me, but actually I joined a Sonic Fan site long ago under the name RedSonic4, but as the years went by I renamed myself RedAuthor due to my likes beyond Sonic the Hedgehog. I tried making a email account to go with it but someone beat me to it, so I purposely mis-spelled it and stuck with it. But actually that is also where my signature comes into play, RS4Productions is short for RedSonic4Productions.
