@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I have it somewhere on VHS... It is pretty good. Sarah and the President are just annoying though.

I think the only best part is where Sonic cracks his nuts on the aircraft.

Technically there can only ever be one "best part" of something. Unless there's a tie.

I didn't like this movie at all, though the silly cameo of the crab was silly. I think it's pretty obvious why SEGA dumped the TV series, cut it into an OVA, and went ahead with Sonic X. But, hey. The movie was a neat little find.

Hehe yeah the OVA wasn't that great. MAYBE entertaining the first time or so watching, but that's probably it.

And honestly, why is the presidents daughter a catgirl? It's completely random.

I've got the Sonic OVA as AVI - it's pretty fun, love the Metal Sonic arc. smile.gif

I bought Sonic: The Movie on VHS one day -- VHS was already in its death throes, but still not particularly uncommon -- because I was looking for a SatAM DVD and the video store didn't have it, so I figured it was the next best thing. (This was back in the days of the crappy 5-episode DVD, looong before the complete box set.)

Boy, I hated the thing. Still do, too. The dubbing was crap, I didn't like the excessively Japanese style (yeah, I know Sonic is Japanese, but...), I especially didn't like the resemblance to DBZ, and the whole thing just seemed infantile. I don't get how an adult could enjoy it at all. (Adults obviously weren't the target audience, but I think a good cartoon should at least hold an adult's attention, 'cause parents often watch movies with their kids. And remember, parents are where VHS/DVD sales come from!) It just seemed like a total train wreck.

The worst part is, thinking I'd get something at least vaguely resembling SatAM or its dark style, I made the (in retrospect, very stupid) decision to watch it in the den with my grandmother and uncle. Well, I didn't really expect them to watch it, but they were there. My uncle got fed up with it and walked out halfway through, and when it was over, my grandmother told me, "I think you really need to grow up, Kev" -- as if that kind of crap was what I wanted to watch. It felt like being punched in the gut. (Later my uncle added that if I wanted to watch something like that, I could watch DBZ... they didn't seem to comprehend that it wasn't what I wanted to watch at all.)

Wow. That was Epic.

I liked it when I first saw it. Over time however I have grown to like other Sonic continuities better.

I watched it on Youtube when I was about 15. The voice acting was like nails on a chalkboard, to me. The whole thing just seemed like a mess to me, really. Maybe I would've appreciated it more at a younger age.

Man, Kef. That sounds freakin' embarrassing. I feel for ya, no joke.

Aside from being totally weird and suffering from mood whiplash, it was alright, at least compared to the joke that was Sonic X.

I saw Sonic OVA when I was around 9 years old and for some reason.....I liked it. huh.gif When I look at it today its probably the worst form of animation I've ever seen but when I first saw it I thought it was awesome. I even showed it to my mom the day after I saw it. I don't remember if she enjoyed it or not.......she probably didn't.

Really? the only reason I bought the dvd was for it's animation, which I find beautiful and the setting is pure japanese Sonic.

I guess it depends on one's opinion of anime. Some people don't like the low framerate, stilted movement, mouth flapping, etc. that's a hallmark of the field.
At least the scenery is quite striking.

I did definitely like the song heard in the beginning that can be heard during the fight with Metal Sonic. Still like that one to this day. smile.gif

When I say animation I mean the film itself. It was just a mess from top to bottom. sleep.gif
