@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

So, to have a bit of fun with my crusty drawing history, here's a small bunch of stuff in order from 1993 to nowish - to the best of my bloody memory.

Attached File  Bloody_awful.JPG   79.8KB   16 downloads
1993 - the oldest piece of art I was able to dig up. Sonic! The first page of my history school book.

Attached File  Very__very_old_drawing.JPG   258.89KB   13 downloads
Ermm.. 1994? And don't ask what this was about. I have no comment.

Attached File  Sonic_1994.JPG   337.59KB   8 downloads
1994 - Sonic again, with the wrong coloured arms, and a much better muse to copy from (Scott Shaw!).

Attached File  Gypsy_Sally.JPG   414.15KB   9 downloads
1995 - Maybe? Whenever that Archie issue of Evil Sonic came out. All I remember is I drew it before the following:

Attached File  Bunnie2.JPG   198.08KB   19 downloads
1995 - A random, weird idea I sketched that later took on bigger random, weird ideas for a comic.

Attached File  Fan_comic..jpg   262.58KB   14 downloads
1995 - And this is the front cover of that random, weird idea comic. A Sonic comic, to be exact. Or, as I like to refer the comic as, learning to ink. Unfinished.

And here's the rest of it:
Attached File  1.jpg   199.92KB   23 downloads
Attached File  2.jpg   148.65KB   17 downloads
Attached File  3.jpg   152.98KB   15 downloads
Attached File  4.jpg   165.65KB   20 downloads
Attached File  5.jpg   158.59KB   19 downloads
Attached File  6.jpg   181.06KB   19 downloads
Attached File  7.jpg   118KB   18 downloads
Attached File  8.jpg   170.18KB   18 downloads
Attached File  9.jpg   195.82KB   12 downloads
Attached File  10.jpg   202.34KB   20 downloads
Attached File  11.jpg   185.02KB   20 downloads
Attached File  12.jpg   190.99KB   23 downloads
Attached File  13.jpg   189.15KB   16 downloads
Attached File  14.jpg   161.45KB   19 downloads
Introducing Carmen, the dreaded fancharacter phase we all go through. More on her later.
Attached File  15.jpg   103.89KB   16 downloads
Attached File  16.jpg   112.92KB   11 downloads
Aaaand that's as far as that ever went. I make no excuses for the script, but I reckon I got pretty darn good at the whole comic drawing thing and inking.

Attached File  Bang_bang.JPG   92.83KB   10 downloads
1996 - A sketch related to the above comic.

Attached File  Carmen.JPG   767.74KB   9 downloads
1996 - Carmen. We won't see her again for several years.

Attached File  bwah.JPG   46.44KB   3 downloads
1997 - This character again. I got no fucking clue was this was about.

Attached File  Mario.JPG   200.46KB   13 downloads
1997 - Boobies!

Attached File  Aeris.JPG   113.76KB   3 downloads
1997 - Aeris, or Aerith, or whatever-the-fuck her name is now. Sketching from a FFVII playthrough guide - the same guide that spoiled the whole Aeris dying scene (Bastards!).

Attached File  Tifa.JPG   111.58KB   3 downloads
1997 - Tifa! Same as above.

Attached File  Horsie.JPG   84.12KB   7 downloads
1998 - A Zombie horse. Playing with charcoal for the first (and only) time.

Attached File  Jason_x_John.jpg   100.67KB   14 downloads
200X (haven't got a fucking clue) - The Mina/Rikku picture I drew with Bleak when I visited the bugger.

Attached File  Tails.JPG   76.83KB   14 downloads
200X - Female Tails, with a really ugly bum.

Attached File  Mina___Sally5.jpg   103.13KB   19 downloads
2004 - Went through this whole Mina/Sally phase, even wrote a crappy fanfic about it.

Attached File  Carmen_Rosemary_Completed.jpg   53.55KB   12 downloads
2004 - Carmen makes a comeback - as a completely different species. The first attempt at photoshop colouring. Also the ONLY attempt at photshop colouring, ever, for obvious reasons.

Attached File  Snively_s_new_outfit1.jpg   63.01KB   7 downloads
2004 - Drawn for an old FUS competition.

Attached File  ziiiiip.JPG   150.03KB   9 downloads
2005 - Another FUS comp. Cracks me up still.

Attached File  Godzilla_.JPG   82.22KB   10 downloads
2005 - Godzilla looking for a Job - No fucking idea what inspired this.
Attached File  sally_bum4.jpg   56.51KB   14 downloads
2005 - A third comp pic. Never finished this one. One of my better bum drawings though!

Attached File  tamara.jpg   53.33KB   9 downloads
2005 - Tamara - a friend's character from an RP group I was apart of for several years.

Attached File  Ace2.JPG   52.17KB   6 downloads
2005 - Ace - another RP character.

Attached File  lovely_cass.jpg   91.64KB   5 downloads
2005 - Casssar - the best and greatest fancharacter ever. MistressAli's character. All bow to Ali.

Attached File  Fluffy_blanket3.jpg   91.81KB   5 downloads
2007 - Carmen - a really crappy drawing.

Attached File  Umm...3.jpg   85.67KB   14 downloads
2007 - Carmen - a less crappy and more funnier drawing.

And the last one I can find, and my personal favourite:
Attached File  why_do_i.jpg   72.24KB   16 downloads

I have nothing between late 2007 and now to show-off, mostly because that's when I joined the army and decided drawing was not worth the effort (aka - I kinda sucked). I tried my hand at a Web-comic once upon a time, but the less said about that disaster the better. And that's pretty much it, apart from some porn I drew that's not very good and not worth being judged at for it.

Oh, well, except for THIS one!

Those are some pretty good pictures John. That comic of yours was also interesting. Quite a shame that its not finished though. sad.gif Some of your other drawing were definitely...different, and by different I mean that I've never seen a MinaxSally pairing anywhere before.

It's not a bad pairing though. biggrin.gif

I always did love Carmen. She was such a cute Koala. She and Kaige had a fun relationship.

And Tammy is still based on your drawing that you did of her. (Little updates here and there over the years of course).

All kidding aside, it's sorta cool to see all these pics of yours, watch your style mature and evolve over time. You've got a real talent for this, I think. happy.gif

I love your art John. :3 Always did.

You've got heaps of talent, all that you need is practice and you'll be *really* good. biggrin.gif

I have. I bet this is the sort of picture that John keeps near his bed:

John, considering you're in charge of one of the upcoming Sea3on shorts, I'm surprised you've only digitally coloured one drawing all these years. I fail to see what "obvious reasons" are holding you back. It's not as if it's a poor first attempt. Are you disappointed? Did you expect it to look perfect on your first try? I mean, Jesus, you should check out some of the tripe I made when I was first learning Photoshop. Here, take a look at this abomination that I made a decade ago. Does it look any better than your picture? What would have happened if I threw aside my tablet and vowed never to paint again because of an early failure? It takes practice and perseverance to become as powerful as I am now. That, and a little bit of tech savvy. I got my Photoshop savoir faire from one of Scott Kelby's Photoshop Down & Dirty Tricks books, but there are also plenty of Photoshop magazines and YouTube tutorials out there than can teach you some neat effects. Photoshop is a complicated program, and you'll be surprised how effectively it can jazz up your art when you know how to create chrome letters or multi-coloured light bursts. Look it up.

I see you're no stranger to comics at least. The story of Bunnie being deroboticized looks strangely familiar somehow. shiftyeyes_anim.gif I have to give you credit; Sonic, Sally, Antoine and Rotor especially all bear a good resemblance to how they appeared in the early Archie issues. Only Bunnie remains a shadow of her official look, with bizarrely-shaped limbs and inexplicably black hair. It doesn't help either that she has two sensors conspicuously located on her breasts. *snigger* I can't really comment on the plot when it's incomplete, but you might want to run your script through a spell-checker first. "Taung medication"... "Your urgently needed"... "No civilians are aloud"... and what the hell is "investigatement"? This is all on one page! Even if you do fix your writing, I still think you should let Chief take over for the next short. His drawings are proportionally correct, highly expressive and they provoke a deep emotional resonance within me. (Laughter.)

PS. I just love the sketch of Bunnie bound and gagged because of how totally misogynist it is. Does this also get you off, John?

Thanks everyone. smile.gif

Glitcher: I won't be colouring my Sea3on short. I only dabbled in the digital colouring those many years ago 'cause I thought 'Gee, that looks easy'. And it wasn't! I had no further intention in putting in the hours of practice needed to get good at it, and I still don't. It's not about expecting to be perfect at it the first time, it's about 'well stuff that idea'. Paying someone else to do it is my motto! As for putting the script through a spell checker, well, first of all that was 15 years ago. And secondly, there was no script. I was making everything up, word for word, page for page, as I went along. There were no Cylon plan for my little comic.

"PS. I just love the sketch of Bunnie bound and gagged because of how totally misogynist it is. Does this also get you off, John?" Many things got me off when I was a teenager. Especially the bound and gagged Bunnie. Many years later and now it's 'bound and gagged Claudia Christian', or 'bound and gagged BY Claudia Christian'. I like to think I've grown as a person.
