@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

But it's easy to crisize something that isn't yours.

For a good artist, it's easy to criticize something that is theirs, too.

Hey! I loved Sam Maxwell's work. He made Robotnik awesome~

Sonic #108
The one comic I wanna hunt down every single issue in existence and torch them all!

Oh, and I don't mind criticizing "professionals" if their work looks worst than my "amateur" work. I believe it takes more than a title or certificate to say how much of an artist someone is.

Now excuse me while I go bleach my eyes and brain and go back to pretending that blasted thing ever existed...

What mostly astounds me is how they forgot to color in Robotnik's pupils. How do you fuck that up?

It might not have been an accident... it isn't the only time Robotnik's sported white pupils, though of course he had red ones for most of the comic's run.

Heck, in some of the oldest issues -- certainly the first one or two of the miniseries -- he actually had human eyes...

The last picture of Robotnik reminds me of something...

Here's more of Ron Lim's work from issue #119. The art itself is bad enough, but what really kills me is the writing on the third panel:

Sonic: "It's a dangerous move, but if I vibrate fast enough to slip our molecules through Cater-Killer's... then we're in!"
Caption: Please don't try at home!

I mean, can you imagine if kids did try this at home? I can just picture hordes of demented children shaking rapidly while running into walls in an attempt to pass through them. Kinda makes me wish that warning wasn't there.

While I'll agree the writing is...sketchy, at best...I actually think this is one of Lim's better pages. Admittedly, that ain't sayin' much, but that last panel in particular is surprisingly well composed, Sonic looks effectively disheveled given the presumed intensity of what he just did (absurd though that is), and-while this isn't to Lim's credit since he didn't do it-the coloring is very nice and atmospheric.

It still sucks on the whole, naturally, but at least it's got that little going for it.

He'd better be careful he doesn't vibrate his molecules apart from each other.

Vibrate... to get inside...

God. That's as bad as the time Sonic threw dirt in his shoe while he was falling to construct a bridge he could run on (beginning of Sonic #48 or #49), or the time he reached into a lake or some such to use his super speed to craft a water ball (I think that was in Brave New World). And the time he oscillated his speed to create afterimages (Sonic #50) doesn't really make sense either.

Seriously, does Sonic's super speed mean he can just make up whatever superpower he wants?

I guess Superman, the Flash, etc. set a precedent that you can do anything if you move fast enough. Like how Superman can go back in time by flying around the earth backwards, or something. I think the Flash did the "vibrate through the walls" trick too. Just mumble something about molecules and space time and it just sounds sciency enough to work.
