@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

When did Sally decide to become a businesswoman? She's got a suit going there. With platform shoes.

....I'm stuck on Sonic's detached mouth in one panel and the awkward eye bubbles. Not attempting to throw an insult in there but I literally did the eye bubbles thing when I was 12 and not as dramatic at that. ohmy.gif

The "eye bubble" thing was also a hallmark of other Sonic artists... I think Steven Butler and Fry. Though they usually positioned them better.

Anyway, I... actually kind of like that Sally design. (I'm assuming there's a reason she's dressed and groomed like a businesswoman, and it's not the artist's whim. In other words, I'd like it in context, not if she were to look like that all the time.) I mean, yeah, her body is absurdly small compared to her head, but that's something of a stylistic choice. One that isn't entirely appropriate for Archie Sonic (cf. the DBZ style discussed earlier), but hey...

Both might have silly costumes and strange proportions, but if I were to choose between Paddock's "Business Sally" and Ron Lim's "Princess Leia Sally" (you know which Leia outfit I'm talkin' about!), give me Business Sally any day.

I think that was an alternate other Zone where Mobotropolis was really heavy on law and Sally and Snivley were lawyers (It's been a long time since I read that issue but I think her name was Sally McBeal...*groan*)

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I give you the horror of Al Bigley's super-deformed Sally:

Oh, and Rotor is totally ripped in this story! Just look at how he's drawn here:

I also want to go on record and say that this story blows poodoo! After all, it was the predecessor to Nicole getting her holographic Lynx form, and there's so much potential in the premise of Sally and Nicole switching bodies. Unfortunately, it was crammed into five short pages that went absolutely nowhere, leaving a wonderful idea go to waste. Bad Archie!

I quite like the layout presentation... but Jesus Christ that's one fuck-ugly Sally. And how can the giant deformed hands be anything but disgusting in this comic lately?

I like the big hands. The artist is, unfortunately, inconsistent as to how many fingers Sally has, though! (I don't terribly mind if it varies from artist to artist, but at least be consistent with yourself... or at the very least, be consistent with yourself within the same story!)

As for the Sally and Rotor designs... I'm wondering if this is Ron Lim Syndrome ("can draw humans, but not furries"), or just plain ineptitude... the art really doesn't seem too bad besides how it's mismatched with the SatAM/Archie Sonic style, and how Sally's face doesn't work at all.

Just to give an idea of what a let down #113 was. This is the cover

I remember getting it in the mail back in the day when I had a subscription/the writing wasn't total ass.
I took one look at that cover and at first I was like ": D" but then

Many hands = the only artist(s) worse than Ron Lim to work on the comic. (To be fair Ron Lim could draw, I think he was just constricted by the time limits and Sonic style when he was used to drawing people.)

Ron Lim's actually a pretty good artist, he just got stuck with an assigment wrong for him and his style. His humans are great and he'd do well in a book like Spiderman or Batman. Wrong matches happen sometimes, and they suck for both - for the reader and the artist. Just imagine how Tex Avery would do with an assignment like Sin City - and that's kinda what happened for Lim with Sonic.

Shame on Archie to letting that continue though, but if Many Hands is an indication they did have alot of artist trouble.

On that note: Holy shit, I can't believe that went to print. ohmy.gif Did they make the writer draw it? It almost looks like that.

I just noticed the Al Bigley example has bad lettering, too. The lettering seems to shrink in places because the letterer drew the balloons too small or something. (Isn't it all done on computer anyway??)

It wasn't proofread, either. "Tommy" (in the first panel) shouldn't have a comma after it, not to mention the emphasis seems very strange. There should be a comma before "princess" in the same sentence, though. "The problem is this" should be followed by a colon, not a comma. "The rings stability" should be "the rings' stability". A couple of these are fairly nitpicky -- not really for a professional publication, though -- but there is no excuse at all for missing that apostrophe.

God, this cover is AWFUL. I especially hate the way Espio is drawn, it's so hard for me to describe how it feels.

I dunno, it has pretty good foreshortening on Sonic's foot. I agree that it's unappealing in most other respects, though.

Forgot the issue...but what of this.... Snively-thing? Eesh (ignore lame attempt at humor on picture)

xD.png Being an amateur artist I really hate calling people's art 'awful' or saying they suck, but in the context of a professional comic book, some of this stuff is pretty bad.

The weird thing about that Snively is that it's not too far removed from a well-drawn Snively... you just make a few tiny changes to his face and it looks all weird...

The main thing with that Snivley is that his face has been drawn too realistic...it doesn't mesh well with his cartoony proportions, nor does it really match how he usually looks.

Someone needs to meld the Grand Naugus together. Zek from Ds9 and Naugus from SatAM.

But it's easy to crisize something that isn't yours. It's also deserved in some cases too.
