Xbox Live Gamer Banned Till The Year 9999

"When inquiring about why his son had been banned from Xbox Live for the next eight thousand years, a father learned something that he probably didn't want to know.
In today's installment of "hilarious bans," we point you to the curious case of Xbox Live user "i am BlaaaacK v." The user in question was suspended from Microsoft's Xbox Live service for quite a while - until December 31st, 9999 - but no notification had ever been given.
The user's father posted an inquiry on the Xbox Forums asking why his son had been banned without reason. The response?
"Your son was exposing himself on camera in Uno."
I would think that would be a very good reason to ban someone for the next eight millennia, actually - especially given we don't know the ages of any of the parties involved. But yes, there is probably a father getting ready to have a very serious talk with his son right about now.
It's okay, though. The guy can always hang out with the one Monster Hunter 3 cheater whose sentence was just slightly less harsh. Misery does love company, after all."

Why would you want to leave him with the option to be a fucktard over text/voicechat? He's proven to be an ideot, so good riddance. He'd continue to make trouble.

If on the other hand the game could be seen by, say, a number of anonymous spectators -- not having played Xbox Live, I don't know how it works -- then there's pretty much no excuse at all, though.
I don't see one anywhere. I know 9999 is over 9000, but that's not really sufficient for it to be a reference (Dec. 31, 9999 is probably the highest date it can store anyhow).

People have to be made accountable for their actions. That's part of what's wrong with modern society: Everyone wants to be able to get away with everything and blame it on someone else. In such a situation, they should ban everyone involved, not give one offender a slap on the wrist. Punch all of the sickos in the face. People who do sick stuff like this should have their junk removed, so they wouldn't be capable of doing it again.

Better than underreaction... As the saying goes: "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out"... If we let the punishment fit the offense more often, there would be fewer offenders, and far fewer repeat offenders...

No. It just makes a lot of people invest in eyepatches. The quote only works if you're talking about revenge, which can be a cycle of violence. Punishing people for criminal offenses is not revenge. It's justice. And if properly done, is a deterrent to would-be future criminals.

No. It's fair punishment to maim sex offenders and other criminals. Douchebags are only punishable by for being a douchebag IRL, as everyone on the internet is a douchebag to some extent. Usually by blackening their eyes and breaking their noses.
Though, you're welcome to try... Just don't expect to be able to walk away from the attempt...
