@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Well, just so CTM can get his stick out of his ass and stop pestering me... What would work for the best of you for FUS Con 2010?

I put the East Coast choice in here because, if there are enough of you on the east, feel free to create your own con or get together over there. Would be pretty cool to have 2 of them going on this year.

Now, as for the West Con, I don't know much about Seattle however if people do know a bit about it feel free to post it in here. And if it is easyer for you to get to and all.
Penance is also willing to drive some people from Seattle to Vancouver if we do it that way. As he will be flying from California to Seattle.

So anyways, what will work for you all?

The east and west coasts hate eachother. And those of us between them think both are out of touch with the rest of us and hate them both equally... But, good luck with the con (or cons as it may be). I lack the money to really go any farther than into town lately... Maybe after I find a better job... Also... Aren't you too far north to be able to call anyone a yankee? That's sort of a southern word...

We call anyone who lives in America a Yanky here. Just like we are called Canucks.

If the coasts really hate each other that bad, then why can't there be attempt to have it somewhere in the midwest?

We've already had cons in the Midwest. It's just that people on the west coast tend to label states like Wisconsin (where we went in 2007, visiting the Dells) as "east coast".

Trust me, it's not.

QUOTE (chief)
Well, just so CTM can get his stick out of his ass and stop pestering me

Stick in my ass, eh? Someone needs to get this jump-started; it's April and I haven't seen much of anything being done in the way of planning beyond a few vague promises (Vancouver) and little forum activity (i.e. little to no interest). I don't blame you, though: I blame the forum's current state of affairs, in which it's confined to a smaller pool of posters than it has in the past. We had the same problem in 2007. FUScon wouldn't have even happened that year if I hadn't pestered Sonique about it. In fact, she did so little about it, I was stuck doing most of the initial organization and planning.

Point is: if no one's going to pull teeth in a sea of apathy or disinterest, nothing is going to get done. I happened to notice how slowly the ball was rolling, based on previous experience. I also noticed that, despite you leaving it (somewhat) open, there were few responses (and even fewer positive). While having a con on the west coast is a noble idea, I don't think arbitrarily deciding on Vancouver is the best option if you're looking to get more people. While I'm not certain on this, I would assume that those of us from the more western regions of North America are a minority here, while those in that same vein who are Canadians are fewer still. A few forumites all from or near the Vancouver was all I saw as affirmatives for the idea (save Penance), and I assumed you wanted something more than just a few Canadians and Penance. (Sorry Penance.) [/stealth joke] (That was basically how the first FUScon went: Sonique, Tristan, Nightweaver, and GamemasterAnthony were all living in Minnesota, with Ali the odd one out.) Polls in the past have been good at stirring discussion, hence the suggestion (which you seem to agree with, since you went ahead with it).

In short: I'm trying to help, chief. There was no attempt whatsoever to belittle you, or whatever it is that's got you feeling grumpy about the whole thing. This is also the first time I've even approached you on the subject, if my memory serves me; I haven't been here in over ten months.

Personally, I think the idea of having more than one con this year is a good one. We've been kicking that one around for years now. As far back as 2006, I remember people from California and other places farther west (such as yourself, chief) clamoring for it, yet falling short due for various reasons (usually obligations like school or a day job). It might spark more interest, too, because then we wouldn't have as many people in our already small pool deciding it's not worth the trouble. Knowing where these otherwise interested parties live would go a long way towards coming up with an ideal solution.
There's only one CTM.

To be honest it was never my intention to get a ton of people or open it up too much. There are a few of us on the West that have talked for years, and thats pretty much what I was aiming at here. And still am. If others can come, awesome, if not okay. Originally John was going to come however chances are he will be deployed in September so that fall out. still trying to pester Matt into comming though.

Thats partly why I mentioned two cons, if the people in central and the east wish to get together, feel free. I'm just trying to set up something on the west for us westies. If anyone has any other ideas for somewhere on the west honestly feel free to say where.

So, actually thinking here.. If we do do two cons this year, that seems like a good idea. East and West. we should try to toss them in at the same time, do a video chat during them. Just a idea but could be a good way to get members from both sides into a similar area.

What would be nice once we finalise a list of people that will attend is to have the first issue of Sea3on published as a gift for each attending member. Heck, if Salamander and that other person who wrote it is there (Gumby, or someone?) they could sign 'em! We'll make rock stars out of our Sea3on staff yet.

This Other Person Who Wrote It is not terribly likely to attend unless it's very close to where he lives (like, say, Boston). Not for lack of desire, but lack of time and ability. My sincerest apologies on that front, but I sincerely hope the rest of you have a good time. happy.gif
