This is probably my primary issue with depictions using the Freedom Fighters. Sonic is the only one ever learning to overcome his flaws in the story, the rest are usually limited to periphery characters or their stories revolve around their abilities or generic missions than their actual personality. This has the problem of not just making the Freedom Fighters a bit empty in use outside being Straight Men to Sonic but also means Sonic comes off as a bit negatively portrayed, since he is required to act flawed on a much more regular basis, learning the same lessons over and over again, and when that fails, having his redeeming aspects compromised to make new ones, making him less an equal to the team and more a manchild kept at bay by a bunch of sane young adults.
The games aren't the best for development, but they do at least remedy this, since many characters have had moments in the limelight concerning their flaws and making errors (eg. Lost World spotlighted Sonic's flaws very accurately, but still kept hold of his redeeming qualities, especially when contrasting other characters such as Tails). Characters such as Amy are just as deranged and accident prone as Sonic, so he doesn't look out of place with them. Sally on the other hand borders as Sonic's babysitter.
Then you need to speak you mind. In detail. Note that you advice will be heard (afiirmed or contested) but note that the goal is to great a better Sonic story. Criticism is useless without proactivity. We tear things up to build them better, not to leave it to rot. You and I both know that there is potential untapped here. So let's get cracking.
