@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I don't any of you that well personally so this probably won't matter to you but I can't go on this trip.
I simply can't afford it, it's too far away, and I'm probably busy on that date too.

So, which is it Chief? Seattle or Canada? tongue.gif At least you seem to have understood the need for the site's current owner to take the reins on setting up FUScons. (Gives it more legitimacy that way.)

I (and I'm assuming anyone else sitting on the fence) need more details than what the thread is offering so far, though. I can try and make it to Seattle, for instance, but right now that's not enough information for me to consider making the trip. How many else agree? Have you started a poll yet? (I'd recommend doing something like this first. You need to build a consensus.) What kind of stuff can we expect to do when we get there?

This thread needs to generate more ideas than it has so far.

Well, its in Vancouver. Pen can drive some people from Seattle to Vancouver if you wish to do it that way. Easyer to cross the border and probably cheaper flying to seattle if you are a yank.

As for a poll? Fuck that, its in Vancouver.

As for stuff to do, Salamander posted a bunch on that. I can look up some good hotels we can cram into for a few days. I know we can do the trip around the PNE http://www.pne.ca/ so we can see that. As well as Van has a few big malls, a aquarium, and a whole bunch of shit I haven't seen before.. Oh oh! Science World cause it kicks ass. But I'll put Salamander on the knowing everything about Vancouver part because she lives there.

What I would like to do as well is get a few of us while we are there to record some commentarys on full episodes. Of course these will be posted up on FUS.

As for dates.. I'm looking around August 9th to 13th or around that area. Maybe not the full 5 days, or maybe the full 5 days. Depends on people and avalability.

You and salamander aren't a consensus, though (you're more of a Canadian circle-jerk). You need others that are interested posting their thoughts or suggestions. This usually helps generate more interest. No previous FUScon ever started out with one person deciding where it was going to be right off the bat; it wouldn't have gotten anywhere.

You need more ideas. To generate ideas, you need a forum for discussion devoted to it. A forum of discussion on this subject has traditionally meant a poll. Hence my suggestion. Your opening post was open to any old place, so long as it was on the west coast. Then you seemed willing to settle for Seattle. Now you're dead set on Vancouver? (Did Penance help change your mind? Lack of general interest?) Why not ask the forum what they think?

You also need to keep interested parties around. The few that posted have been scarce for weeks (which seems to apply to the entire forum, by extension). FUS is not as active as it once was, so the battle is a lot harder. Have you been promoting this thread elsewhere, for instance?

One, I did ask people if they wanted it in Seattle or Van.. No one really bothered to reply to that.
Two, if someone has ideas on something else.. Go ahead and post em. I was just tossing out a initial thing.
Three, no I posted this on FUS and thats about it. What else am I going to do? Post it on SMS? No.. No I don't think so.
Four, try taking that stick out of your ass CTM.

But if anyone has sudjestions, go for it. Post em here. The main problem with a West FUS Con is there really aren't too many members on the west coast. Thats why up intill now, its always been the East States.

Vancouver or Seattle for the West Con. The vote seems to be tied on that in the vote topic.. But as Pen is renting a car in Seattle regardless could be easy for a lot of people to get into Vancouver. Providing you have a passport.

If anyone else has more ideas on this Iid like to hear them out. We need to choose a place for sure soon, so we can plan out exact dates etc.

Even if Seattle was the final choice, it’s not like we couldn’t go to Vancouver for a day or two.

Heck, if the rallying point was Seattle…then we’d get to see and visit two diiferent cities in two different countries, all for one con!

How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

Well if I understand The Man correctly…

QUOTE
If you want it, here it is come and get it.

I vote Seattle. Maybe I could fit a few strangers into my small place.

...The Man is from Seattle?

If the con was held in Seattle then we all could stay at The Man’s place, free of charge I would I guess. :^D

And then if we were to go to Vancouver, we would be staying only a few days and thus would not have to pay 4-5 days worth of hotel fees or whatnot. More like 1 or maybe 2 hotel days...

If The Man wants to offer up his place that’s cool.

And Free is good.

At least that was what I was thinking about when I popped the idea…so if that is not the case...then it prolly would be too much of a hassle....

We never understand what The Man means... So i wouldn't take it that way. We have already voted that he picks random words out of a hat to string sentences together. Which makes everything more interesting

Alright, I need to confirm people here. Dates, Vancouver or Seattle. If people know more about Seattle and what we can do let me know.

I also need dates... Penance is one of those who wants to come for sure and he needs to fly. So if no one starts to give me any ideas I'll need to make junk up here.

Bad News... For the West Con atleast.

Well, I got put into a different position at work today.. came with a nifty raise and all. Now I'm dealing more in the parts line of the shop, then working outfront. Which is nice.. The bad news in this.. It requiered me to forfit any time off in July and August. sad.gif

I'll help as much as I can and offer the sites services to anyone who wants to pick up the con for 2010. Chances are the West one is dead now, lack of interest in that area anyways, probably be something in central or east states though.

Anyways, sorry to all who were expecting me to show up to one and plan one in the West.. Things were working out till I got that bloody raise.

Also, I might be moving but in the same city. I could let you know next month if anyone wants to stop by. I might charge 20$ for the whole time. We can do this without chief. (We don't need him) I'm sure it's all right if several people want to come.

It would probably be late August. Kinda a mature meet-up before people go back to school again. Boeing, Microsoft, Washington is really a business state so I guess dining out and gaming is what we can do for fun.

I'd have to plan touring destinations if anyone wanted to come.

It's a shame this didn't go anywhere sad.gif

We usually meet up in summer but since Summer is almost over, do you guys wanna try for a fall meeting instead? YEah there'd be no water parks but maybe we can do something else.

Also lol @ my avatar I forgot I was using that xD.png

...Allison? Where have you been?

No, chief's proposal (or anyone else's, for that matter) didn't happen, for reasons best summed up in one simple phrase: lack of sufficient interest. That, and no one's sheepherding techniques were up to snuff--something that's become something of a required talent nowadays if you want to rope people in. Building consensus is harder than it used to be.

I'm pretty sure the reason we've done these in the summer in the past is because it's the time of year where schedules are the most flexible (obviously). Any other time and real life obligations tend to get in the way too much. But if you want to try, by all means.

Just remember that it helps to be a good shepherd. (Pun intended; and yes, I know it's groan-inducing.) That, and to keep your audience in mind. As noted before, our forum community is a lot smaller now than it has been in the past. If the past two FUScons are of any indication, the only people you're likely to get now are those who have always gone--in short, those who know you and have met you (and we know who we are). And I won't pretend any different: it's basically been a gathering of friends rather than anything resembling a con. Nothing wrong with that, of course--just something worth mentioning at this point in time, when you come out of the blue to make an appeal this time of year. Few jumped back in the spring; I don't think you can expect things to get any easier now.

Speaking of which, you can count me out at this juncture. It turned out I didn't have any spare change a couple months ago, and I certainly don't now, unfortunately. So long as I'm unemployed living off state checks, that is.
