Frankly I'm not happy about "Sonic the hedgehog 4" because with the way the company works now it won't continue the SoA storyline. It'll be Sonic the hedgehog 4 for the JP version perhaps. But I wasn't a huge fan of that storyline. I preferred the American interpretative approach to the Sonic world. It's kind of sad because the implication is that they're trying to erase the SoA genesis gaming storyline out of existence. To make everyone forget it. Now I'll have to deal with more dumbass fanboys who think it was just a localization of the JP story. 9_9

I understand where you're coming from, but there may still be hope. Despite Robotnik being called "Eggman" and being drawn as his post Sonic Adventure self, the story in this game may be simple enough that it could fit into the Mobius-based Western back story without any problems.

Well for one thing, I personally think they should have the Homing Attack as a special shield powerup. I'd rather have the Insta-Shield be his default "Push jump twice" action. I feel special actions such as the Homing Attack and air dashes should be things that you have to earn by finding them in an item capsule and have skill to keep by not getting hit rather than being a regular move (Kind of like keeping your fireballs all the way through a stage so you can use them on a boss in the Mario games for example)

To answer your question, something like that.
but if we wind up with something like Sonic Advance I won't cry.

Although I'm not quite "whining and bitching about it", I'll point out that any Sonic that isn't retro will probably never feel like "Sonic 4" to me. I think calling it Sonic 4 is silly; there's no way it's going to capture the same spirit of the original trilogy.
Which is a different thing from saying it will suck. Hell, it could be a fantastic game for all I know. It just won't feel like a true sequel.
(As for it continuing the storyline from S3&K... come on. The games didn't have a storyline. Oh, sure, there's the whole thing about the Death Egg and the relationship between Knuckles and Robotnik, and... that's about it. I doubt many people have ever really cared.)

Which would at least bring traffic! Seriously though, If dealing with them were something to eagerly look forward to, I'd be elated.

Because Sonic 1 was TOTALLY centered around story.

You know that makes for two rather heated comments from you in a row only 2 minutes apart. Are you on your period or something? It's not like I was telling you something like "ur an idiot drinking the Sega kiddy coolaid!!!!11" Nor do I expect everyone to share or understand my sentiments here. I just wanted to say I'm not especially thrilled right now. That's it. I have that right.
Someone has clearly missed the canon wars where many a fanboy whine about how everything that was written by Japan is the 'true' story. Lucky you. I only care about it, because I get sick of people bitching about how I'm not a true Sonic fan if I don't like the Japanese story. And it wasn't as much the content as much as the ideas behind the writing. I agree more with SoA's interpretative approach to Sonic that allowed Sonic to be for everyone. He was what you imagined.

About what?
I'll wait and see. I do think 3 seconds of gameplay's a bit little to make judgements like that though. It's not like I'd swear off looking at the game. My discrepancies simply make me somewhat uncomfortable.

Those comments aren't "heated" at all, and I think you're taking them far too personally. It's perfectly reasonable to point out that the Genesis games had paper-thin plots that always took a backseat to the gameplay, and it's also reasonable to point out that it's ridiculous to take those storylines too seriously, no matter how much fanwank there is over continuities.
I'll withhold any solid judgment on the game until we get to see more footage, but for now I'm cautiously optimistic. SEGA at least appears to be putting effort into this, and they'll be walking on eggshells if they're going to try to please a fanbase that's notorious for being unpleasable.

I'll have to disagree. Within two minutes he attempts to belittle me (in two different topics) for having an interest in the subject of storylines regarding Sonic the hedgehog, even if it's mostly because of things like canon wars. I think I got it the first time and could see if I was imposing my feelings on him. He could've at least contributed something else to the discussion in such posts or even something to make it clear he knew for what specific reasons I am worried about the storyline (that he'd know if he read the other topic).
What does that have to do with the fact fanboys go about ruining the experience for people whining over what is the "true" canon for Sonic the hedgehog regardless? It's something I made mention of in OP the other topic he attempted to be witty in (and it's written very early on in the post too I might add). So if he's going to make responses he should at least make it clear he knows why I'm bothered. It's not wrong to be somewhat uncomfortable about such fanboys' reactions to this game and I'm not asking him, or anyone else to share my feelings.

No one is attacking you.
And, no, don't reply to this with more of your paragraphs, for Christ sake. Just let it go for once, will ya? Please?

Only, I don't think that Miko's complaining so much about the lack of storyline, so much as the potential problem we might have if SoJ attempts to merge Sonic 4 with their mainstream (failing) spin-off series. I think that might also be the fears of many other fans as well. With Sonic 4, they want the opportunity for the series to go back to a simpler period in time, however, with potential (even if) rejected spin-off characters such as Shadow being considered as potential candidates to enter the game for example, makes one ponder just how true to the classic they intend to make this. Is this yet another marketting gimmick to sell new-aged games like how Next Gen was?
