@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I saw this film and personally, it is.....(big word comin')

Unprecedented! emot_amy.gif Yeah, It's THAT good. It's completely original and truly ''The best of the Decade''. From start to finish I was couldn't even get out of my seat 'cause I didn't want to miss a second of it! I highly recommend watching this movie IN IMAX 3D. Not normal, not 3D, It HAS to be in IMAX. I've seen it in 3D and in IMAX and I have to say IMAX is the way to go. Yes, Its got a hefty price but its worth second of the film. Yep. All 9660 of em'. And if you don't like it, I understand your opinion. Apparently you think JAW-DROPPING VISUALS AND AWE-INSPRIRING CHARACTERS AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL STORYLINES SUCK. Sorry but, I don't know how anybody could dislike this movie. Its the best movie I've ever seen! I've seen Titanic too but this one takes the CROWN! Eh....yeah. Vote your opinions! biggrin.gif

Yeah, the images were great and it left a big impression, but the story just couldn't palm me in and that's the most important to me. It was alright, but I've seen much better movies.

Visuals, smisuals - the 2 Matrix sequels killed any faith I put into pretty visuals winning me over to enjoy a film. It was a nice safe story to follow. And I thoroughly enjoyed it; definitely up there with the best of them this year. For a James Cameron movie, however, you have to raise the standards and sadly it was lacking anything truly complex in the writing department.

Was good to see Sigourney Weaver again. Still sexy!

I liked it quite a bit, mostly for the eyecandy. The story was simple but to my taste, so I don't mind. I'm also of the mind that 'original' doesn't equal good. You could make a movie about a ball of lint who was the one stealing all the socks from the dryer and sure that might be original but would it be good? tongue.gif (Actually I smell a blockbuster! *goes to sell story*)
Also, Neytiri was wicked cool, though I always like those sorts of characters.

No IMAX for me. There's actually an IMAX theatre in the city 30 mins from me but they don't play any movies other than just the IMAX specials (like 'adventure in the arctic' or 'helicopter ride over NY' or whatever) Regular 3D was cool though...

The story was quite cliche (European invasion and destruction of native inhabitants... alien style!) but it was executed brilliantly and the 3D visuals, while taking some time to get used to and suffering the usual flaws that come with attempting to fake depth perception, were also excellent.

Sherlock Holmes was better than Avatar because it had a villain that was Obviously Evil™, replete with black cloaks and a plot for world domination.

dry.gif Did you REALLY see Avatar? The villain in Avatar was also cold-hearted! I saw Sherlock Holmes, but I would give that movie a 7/10 stars. Didn't enjoy it as much.

The villain in Avatar was very much the stereotypical tough guy American soldier who just doesn't give a damn.

I have to agree with you on that. To tell the truth, I sorta see that a lot. But I still enjoyed it. :/

And there's nothing wrong with you enjoying it. Every now and then I rather enjoy having a bag guy that is wicked cool without any of that morality nonsense or a sudden change in heart making them grey.

I loved it. Mind you it was like futureistic Pocahontas. Even had the Mother Willow thing going on. Some glow in the dark willow tree of fiberoptic cables connecting them to the world (organic internet).

But nah it was a fucking good movie.

Gimmicky. Look pretty (very pretty), but that's all it had going for it. Shallow plot, no character development at all.

I dont think it needed much character development. Its not a film where you NEED to know everyone inside and out. You just look at it as a whole.

I agree with Chief! angry.gif

Although now that I think about it, the plot DOES seem a little similar to Atlantis: The Lost Empire... mellow.gif

I haven't seen it yet, and i'm not sure yet if it's worth it. The adverts really didn't sell me on the movie because it doesn't tell me anything about the film other than how it was going to look. All the other advertisements i've seen were James Cameron saying "there's nothing more immersive than a 3D experience." Seeing as i'm blind in one eye, nearsighted in the other eye, and have no depth perception, 3D movies do absolutely nothing for me, and there's nothing more immersive that a well written story, which wasn't really featured in the adverts. I'm waiting to hear back from my trusted friends in college who went to see it, as we generally have similar taste in movies. I did go see Sherlock Holmes with my folks, and loved the crap out of it. happy.gif

Eh, maybe. I mean, I don't want to know every character in that film inside and out. But I do wish James Cameron did something with the main characters' development in the film that didn't seemed so, slapped on. There were plenty of opportunities to do that within it's 2 hour 40 minute running-time.

Maybe the promised extended edition will do that.

That would be nice, hey? The entire LoTR-style extended cuts for the film would be wonderful - if such character development cuts were even filmed for Avatar. I really don't need to see extended visual candy.

Loved it, seen it twice, will probably go one more time, and I eagerly await the sequel. COOL DAMN MOVIE, which albeit was not very original, but because I already love all of the things it borrows from ("Dune," "Lawrence of Arabia," "Dances With Wolves," "World of Warcraft," etc.) I see no reason to hold that against it. Plus, it gives me more hope for Sam Worthington's career since as far as I'm concerned he was the only thing really holding up "Terminator: Salvation" (except for maybe the $2 million CGI glory-shot of Schwarzenegger) and for that he deserves kudos. Anyways, this is the sorta film that I want to see when I pony up $10 at the ticket window, but rarely get; thanks Titanic guy!

I will probably watch it again in the IMAX, rent the Extended Cut when it comes out on DVD, and then be done with it until Avatar 2. That will just go straight to the Netflix queue so I can see if it gets any better story wise. If it does, then I will go see the last installment of the trilogy in theaters. If not, then I simply saw two really pretty movies... and that's not a bad deal, overall...
