@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Who remembers this Filmation made animated show? it's one of the best ST spin-off series and served as the fourth and fifth seasons of the legendary TV Show. It was made by Filmation who made delightful shows like He-Man, Bravestarr, Fat Albert, She-Ra, Ghost Busters and of course animated movies like Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night.

It had two new characters like Arrax who looks like an alien camel with the voice of Dan Ackroyd (Sort of) and that gorgeous feline alien chick M'ress, sure the animation is very stock like most Filmation productions but it was an intelligent series.

I watched this religiously everyday on Nick back in the 80's when i was little.

Nope. We didn't get more than the 2 local stations until sometime around 94 or 95. Even if we did, I'd have found something more interesting than Star Trek to watch. Never have understood why it has such a big following...

I remember it semi-fondly, though I haven't seen it in a decade-plus so those memories may be distorted. I remember watching it in preschool.

I do *not* remember the animation very fondly.

It introduced M'ress into Star Trek cannon. I liked her well enough. Trek needed some actual alien looking recurring characters that were more than just humans with rubber things attached to their heads.

Eh. Only decent thing I've enjoyed with Trek was that latest movie JJ Abrams made. Oh, and that Whale one a few years back. First Contact was good too, I suppose. It's never been my kind of Sci-fi, really. Too stuffy.

As I recall isn't all but one episode of TAS considered non-canon to the live action series' continuity? Which I guess would explain why I've never seen a cat-person on Star Trek.
For anyone who like me hasn't ever seen TAS this'll explain the above hullaballoo http://memory-alpha..../en/wiki/M'Ress I find it amusing that her Peter Pan Records rendition looks like a blue/green version of Chiana from Farscape. I guess the artist wasn't good at drawing lions xD.

Whole thing is kind of like that green Rabbit they had in the early Star Wars comics (nope, not confusing Bucky O'Hare with Star Wars).
Whom Lucas apparently hated as much as everyone else hates Jar-Jar.

...Well, maybe not that much.

Actually, there have been cat persons in one of the old-crew movies. Not sure which one, but they were in one of the Federation Headquarters audiences.

AND there was the three boobed dancer in Star Trek 5, she was a cat person, too.

D'OH! Yeah I've not seen all of the movies. Just 4, 3 and Khan for TOS crew really.

Sorta yeah, sorta no. The Star Trek Encyclopedia always considered TAS to be non-canon. (However, its most recent version was released in 1999.) And I think the one episode of TAS that's considered canon is only because a character from it was placed in a live-action episode or something.

Roddenberry considered TAS canon until TNG came about, and then he declared it non-canon. Recently it seems to have become some kind of "quasi-canon"; Paramount is taking it a little more seriously, but still probably not as seriously as the other series. I imagine most fans feel the same way about it and don't really care if it's canon or not.

To an extent, canon is kind of a silly concept anyway (as long as a given series isn't inconsistent with itself, at least). It's all about determining what "really" happened in the Trek universe, but does it really matter what "really" happened, anyway? Star Trek novels aren't canon, but people continue to write them and people continue to enjoy them.

Sonic as a whole has a rather loose notion of canon too. (So it's a loose canon? Hur hur.) The games, SatAM, AoStH, Sonic Underground, Archie Sonic, and probably Sonic X (I haven't really watched it) all take place in completely distinct universes that are mostly mutually exclusive (though Archie Sonic overlaps with several). Sonicdom as a whole doesn't really suffer for it. It suffers for a lot of things, but canon issues aren't really one of them.

Ahh so that would explain why some Caitians ( http://memory-alpha....en/wiki/Caitian ) appeared in the early films and not later. They were canon at the time!

But yeah people obsessing about canon is something that made a lot more sense at 7 than it does as an adult.
As if all the creators weren't just making this shat up as they go along. Nothing wrong with mutually exclusive stories as long as they are entertaining and done well.
Though one thing that DOES burn my bacon a bit is when licensed media is just a cheap cash-in and demonstrates an utter lack of familiarity with the source material. Like 2 of the 3 Farscape novels. Wherein it's painfully obvious the writers couldn't have possibly seen more than 2 episodes of the show tops.

But back on subject (sorta). It's just too bad a lot of people in fandoms (especially sonic) seem to be perpetually stuck at age 7.

Also lol they look more like something that would be fought with a torn shirt than have had on the crew in TOS-
