While the comics will sometimes have their "darker" momemts. we're really more interested in telling fun stories.
Is he saying Other M wasn't a fun story then?
That crazy Amy face keeps getting funnier.
I guess Ian accidentally insulted his own work.^_~
I haven't read the issue yet, but I've heard that, after Sally decides she wants to ask Khan out, Sonic and Amy have a heart to heart over lunch. I'm not sure what to make of this.

Ian being Ian however, doesn't feel like building it up, obviously. Sally just falls in love with him for no reason and the two get abruptly slapped them together, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of fans-- whether they liked these two as characters or not.

Cyborg, technically. He was originally organic, but Julian put a lot of internal technology in him. It's kind of confusing, heh.

This pairing isn't being written with the intention to last. He's just trying to use this as an excuse to pair SonSal (or as close as he can get to it) by saying its what the fans want because they rejected Khan. I won't be surprised if he plans on doing something similar with Sonic/Amy. Poorly writing the pairing and then, when fans complain will claim that they hate it because they want him with Sally more.
Remember guys. The only reason Ian's bothering with Sally/Khan is because his #134 review got leaked and he got exploited for his BS. Fans have been accusing him of his SonSal bias constantly, so now he's trying to do something that'll cover his ass, albiet poorly.

As someone who can't stand SonSal, I should be happy. But I can't. One. it's Khan. Even as someone who presently dislikes Sally I wince at it. Actually it's probably not so much that I hate her, it's more to do with how she's placed in the story and how that affects the cast arround her (and I don't just mean love interests folks). Second it's my philosophy to give at least an open view for all of Sonic's love interests. I may a little iffy on that standard Fiona and Bunnie because they don't really have that kind of dynamic (and in Fiona's case while she had some defining characteristics she needed a lot of fleshening out ) but I suppose Sally is an option now the way Mina Mongoose is and I'm annoyed by Ash/Mina myself.
So I guess what we see here is Ian trying to decide what's more important: Seeing what he wants or covering his ass as per usual. A damn shame the options conflict huh? I don't buy any of this even after Blazey gave it to me. Even as I see it I'm still thinking to myself
1. He had that 134 review stating preference of SonSal
2. He practically parted seas for this pairing and made several dozen plotholes to go so far as an have an almost-kiss between the two.
3. It's perfectly possible to change your mind on things as Ian says when pressed on this issue. Ken Penders changed his views on Sally from wanting to kill her, to wanting to pair her with Antoine to wanting to portray her as Sonic's wife. The differences is he didn't do a 180 after fans uncovered his bullshit. And actually Ken's been very open about saying whether he thought Sally was parasitical to a Sonic story and only saving her because of SEGA and the management at Archie. And his attitude seemed consistent as Sonic and Sally drifted and Sally was giving a prophetic marriage to Antoine to set the tone of her removal wasn't Sonic's beholden one and only or whether he was in staunch support and wrote with the intent of them one day being married. Ken didn't give a crap how many of us he pissed off and he pissed a LOT of people off. In short he's had a relatively better history of doing something before fans uncover something that Ian doesn't. Ian's response is reactive.
4. It's only after everybody catches on and then you do a 180? Oh come on. That's one shocking twist there, you sure had me! Sonic and Sally about to kiss before Bean and Bark comes, all that leading up only to just go, "well to hell with it, I'm gonna ditch it and go in a direction I wasn't even indicating. " Hell he didn't even like Amy a year ago by his own testimony and I'm to believe he just had this bigass "shocking twist" ready? No. Just about if not every "shocking twist" he's ever come up with has been his simply trying to retcon previous ideas (ex: Fiona and Scourge ). He has not proven he's very good at making shocking twists or that he has a history of doing that with the very works he creates.
So can anyone see why I'm reluctant to beleive there is any sincerity in this? Even if he hypothetically abandoned his desires for Sonic/Sally and ended Sonic with someone else, it's not because he just loves this fanbase. It wouldn't be the first time his ass gets caught red handed and he sacrifices immidiate comfort for ass covering. I think the phoniness of his PR stunts inviting us since last December is what has shaped my attitude around his board to this. What am I saying PR stunts are phony by nature, pretty much. I can't stand the bullshit and the pretentiousness and it's hard to act like that kind of thing I should deal with when it's not even a formal/professional setting.
Getting cronies to persistently bother me, Exor and a few other folks here to join that damned board and then making it look like we just happily skipped along in the damn place and were just shitting all over everone's fun. Yeah, maybe if I'd happily gone along with it, I WOULD have been troll -like but somewhere along the line Ian and co sort of forgot that he not only "invited" people, he got cronies to make sure we WENT. I got more than my share of PMs there asking "why are you here" from his ignorant (and I don't mean that condescendingly) members as if I and few other critics hadn't been "invited." And did he defend us when this obvious reaction occured? Like hell he did because he wanted it to look exactly how it looked. It pisses me off, even if I don't like SonSal because Ian's BS pisses me of many times more than SonSal ever could. From personal experience, I don't think this is anything more than his usual ass cover.
P.S: Didn't SEGA say they couldn't do SonAmy? At least not for long term? I know Amy's been allowed to date Sonic in the Sonic X series but to actually be his girlfriend steadily?

Isn't it supposed to be an adventure story? Where does all this relationship drama come from?

If nothing else I think he'd be kinda humourous in a 'Barby girl' video.
...Omg no. Now I've got Sally in my head.

Seriously, I've always hated that guy. But now he has to have a stupid back story?

Gaaaag.
I used to think it was silly when people argued over who should be paired with who in a given show/comic/whatever. Now I think I'm starting to get it.

The backstory was quite good actually; Julian was in top form.

Maybe it's all part of Ian's plan to make Sally pink again and retcon us back to 1993.
