@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Ken Penders thinks so.

QUOTE
Yes, Rotor was to be our gay character. Frankly, Cheez, your comment about the writing was one of the reasons. His character was still mostly undeveloped, even after all these years. I'll let Ken explain (from his aforementioned post):

"I thought it was fairly obvious Rotor was gay, and begun laying the groundwork for that storyline during the MOBIUS: 25 YEARS LATER segments. I even showed his life partner without saying as such and planted clues between the lines."

So there's your next question, though I think it should be an easy one now. Who was Rotor's life partner? (And yes, he did appear in the comic. And No, it wasn't Tommy (who's now dead, remember?))

the life partner is apparantly Cobar, the echidna scientist from one of the Mobius X Years Later arcs. I never heard of him since I don't follow the comics anymore.
I don't get what was "obvious" about Rotor being gay? If he had said Antoine, I could understand.. And going for subtlety in the Archie comics? hahaha.

Well, no, Antoine would not make sense at all. Still, while a gay character's fine and dandy, the reveal's a bit of a letdown since Ken sucked at writing Rotor.

It could work but I don't really see it. I guess if anything Rotor was depected as the most A-sexual of the whole group. (Unless he had more sinister intentions for robecca... just why the hell DID he build that thing anyway?) So I think he lends himself better that way to whatever sexuality you want to put him than the other characters. But as far as it being "obvious" I don't see it.

I never thought of Rotor that way, I just thought he hadn't found the right girl or decided to focus on other non-romantic things. I hope Archie doesn't go though with that, it would ruin Rotor's character for me, because I don't agree with the lifestyle. No, I don't hate gays, I just don't think that lifestyle is right. Besides, I wouldn't want Archie to deal with such a converical topic.

I read M:25YL (about the only part of the comics I've read) and I can't see how he appears gay. To me, Cobar and Rotor are just two old guys working as colleagues.

Rotor being bi in Archie comics? Maybe. Rotor being gay? No. In issue 57 Karl had outlined which old stories were still canonical and which weren't. One of them (in issue 11 where Coconuts has the FFs captured and ready to bomb the building) have Rotor asking Sally since they were about to die where he and the rest of the guys fit in her heart, with a bashful expression on his face. If he were gay that's not the kind of question he'd have asked. So no it really wasn't obvious to me, because it would've never made any sense. I agree with those who initially thought of Mighty and Ray. What the hell was the point of even introducing the idea of giving Rote a relationship if he was going to be "blessed" with the most uninteresting of the bunch. It didn't even look like a relationship. There was no thought put into how Cobar as a person could've completed Rotor as a person. There was no effort put into it. It was just like he put a homosexual relationship in for the sake of doing it.

I still remember, in the last story arc of Ken's that was run before he was fired, there was a scene where Robotnik is walking into Knothole. Rotor tells Tails that they cannot arrest him because he isn't doing anything wrong.

Well, okay, he wasn't doing anything wrong right then, but he was still guilty of many, many war crimes by the time that scene took place.

I have to wonder what Ken was thinking...or indeed if he was thinking. He tended to do great work for Knuckles, but for some reason his Sonic material was often sub-par.

LOL. Those captions fit those pictures like they were MEANT to be written that way. Rotor Gay? Now I have not been keeping up with the comic (being that it has sucked royally for a long time) so maybe I am missing something. However, there was no such evidence in SatAM. I always seem to think that if anything, he might have a fancied Bunny. There is no proof of this, but as a kid I used to think of it like this. Bunny brakes a metal part one day and she lets Rotor fix it. lets say for whatever reason, the part keeps braking. Sooner or later, Rotor turning that bolt..they lock eyes. Ok, this sounds sappy, but...could work.

I suppose I'm meant to say something on this thread, but there's not really much I can say. Just the same as I said over on SMS, really. If he is, he is, if he isn't, he isn't.

I just think that in a continuing comic where you can't really get away with saying the characters are in different incarnations, you risk the writers coming up with their own ideas about the characters and you end up with an untidy patchwork. I think that might be what's happening here with Penders - he's trying to write something that's incompatible, unless he's clever about it, which I gather he isn't.

I'm not sure what's 'obvious' about Rotor being gay. It's not that I'd care, considering I like me some seXy guy-on-guy, and I suppose someone 'seeming gay' is a stereotype since most gays act perfectly normal, ie: not over-the-top flamboyant drag queen sort of thing... LOL. I suppose the assumption is a character is straight unless shown otherwise, and Rotor doesn't really show that much romantic interest to say anything about it. Though I do agree about the Rotor/Bunnie thing. She's part machine, he's a mechanic, and they can connect over that... smile.gif

I read this fanfic where Rotor got captured by Snively and Snively totally had the hots for him... hahahaa. Unfortunately it turned out to be a nightmare of Rotor's and he woke up before anything good (or bad... LOL) happened.... Damnnnn!

I personally don't like it either when guys support "girl on girl action" while denouncing male on male romance as sick, or when gals support "guy on guy action" while denouncing female romance as sick.

If you're going to support gay pairings, support all of them, regardless of your personal sexuality is.
