@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

One of the side effects of packing up my apartment and moving (only eight blocks) has been realizing how sadly dependent I am on increasingly ridiculous material possessions. "Really? I can't bear to part with this? How sad."

Going without Internet for two days is already going to be traumatic enough. Actually throwing things away becomes too much of an emotional burden.

What's the most ridiculous possession you can't bear to part with? For me, it's a toss-up between a stack of unopened year-old Archie Sonic comics, and the unfinished giant jawbreaker I got at the Dells two FUScons ago and turned into a piece of desk art.

I'm not sure I can say ridiculous for myself, but I do have lots of old stuff of mine I'm planning on selling. Some stuff I've had emotional attachment to but have decided to sell since I have no use for it. Have SOME stuff from my past way way back I'll keep, but probably not much of it.

It's surprising what one can sometimes find just laying in a field or in the yard... I've got a couple of old golf balls, a carrying case for some small electronics or something, and a few rather unique-looking rocks (one of which has a nice sharp edge).

* My Archie Sonic collection (contains most issues up to #78, plus #100, #200, and a very small number of others)
* My video game collection (I still play games from it, but the occasions I do are increasingly rare)
* I probably have quite a few more books than I really need, especially out-of-date books on stuff like Visual Basic and a probably over-10-year-old book on Linux
* My guitar equipment, or at least the stuff I rarely ever use

Also, the vast majority of my Nintendo Power collection is missing and I wish I still had it, but it'd still be rather silly and useless for the most part.

Beyond that I really don't have all that many possessions beyond the basic necessities and my computer stuff.

- Kef

I don't think keeping the comics or old games is ridiculous, at least you can sell them on Ebay or something. They have monetary value.

I don't like clutter, I tend to throw shit out or sell it eventually if I find I'm not using it. A couple weeks ago, I burned a crapload of stuff in our backyard, like old manuals for things I don't have anymore, old notebooks with handwriten fanfics, old drawings and fun stuff like that... >:}

I have a pair of pants from high school that I've had in my drawer forever. LOL. They're actually old military pants my dad wore in bootcamp, then I wore them in high school. They're all ripped up in the ass now but still I keep them... lol I also have an old hoodie with a skull on it with sleeves all ripped to crap but I can't bear throwing it out... xD I'm sure I have other dumb stuff. ^^

It's simply getting a truck from someone to haul it away. I try to keep all the important stuff. I'm sad to have misplaced four Chess Trophies all of 1rst place during one of my moves. Bad move on my part. This topic reminded me to buy myself a new one this Christmas. Engraved "Champion 1996-2000".

Yes, but I think it's silly that I do cling to them instead of selling them on eBay. I'm not a collector, I just kinda like having them, even though 99% of the time I forget they even exist.

Ditto. I spent the past week revisiting Rock N Roll Racing on the SNES.

My old sketchbooks. They hold a very sentimental value for me as a historical record of how I learned to draw.

My Dragonforce Sonic Firestorm and Inhuman Rampage albums, I am looking for some poor sap to inflict this horrible power metal pieces of shit upon. tongue.gif

But that's not silly at all smile.gif it's good to have those records. Both for sentimental reasons and to see how far you've come/your progression.

xD

And as for me in this topic I honestly wouldn't know where to start.

"I really think of life as a great expression of joy. And if you take yourself seriously you're going to be defeated I'm afraid.
...Maybe that is the whole recipe of life, is to be in on the joke. Because life is a joke and if you're not in on it you're out.
But if you're in on it, you can make it." - Vincent Price

"What have you got to lose? You know you come from nothing you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!"

Why not start with the post you won't let us in on, Rand? Was the objects sentimental or family-ornament?

Overall, I've lost everday things like soccer balls, clothes, and cables like many other people.

Seriously, Tristan? I remember you chewing on that damn thing, for crying out loud.

I'm a pack rat. I've got lots of things hanging around in storage that I won't throw away. To name just a few small objects off the top of my head, though:

I've got a pair of old watches that don't work anymore. They're both over ten years old, sitting in a desk drawer in my room somewhere. They hold a certain sentimental value to me as they date back to my childhood.

I also have a collection of tickets from every movie I've ever gone out to see since 1998. However before you sit and try to imagine a stack longer than your arm, it's actually closer to the amount you could snugly fit in your wallet. I don't see many movies in any given year.
There's only one CTM.

Well I don't suppose any of us could be as bad as the woman I saw on this show called 'Hoarders' the other night. Holy shit. They removed like, 8,000 pounds of garbage from this lady's house. Shit she kept over the years and just let it pile into a disgusting stinking mess. They even found a damn dead cat (two actually) buried under the filth, and no lie, the cats looked like they'd been steamrolled. They were -flat-. I have never seen a flat cat before so that was pretty amazing. 'Oh so that's where kitty went to...' duhrrr...

Also, CTM, where have you been hiding? xD

I'll have to bring it to the next con!

Other ridiculous things I discovered I won't throw away in the process of moving (now thankfully over): piles and piles of papers left over from MFA workshops, broken headphones that I'm fairly sure I can't fix, and CDs I'm sure are too scratched to work again.

No dead cats :X

hehehe, i've got a white bookcase under my stereo with tons of random crap from over the years I need to throw away. Two of the biggest shelves are filled with old "expert gamer" mags, made by a company that's been out of business for years. my school yearbooks, dictionary/encyclopedia set, and a bunch of old novels I read for school will probably be kept. Of all the things I NEED to throw out, it should be the damn mageknight figures and pkmon cards I collected a decade ago...crap. just found my old CD player that I bought before the mp3 age. This stuff will probably get sold off when my parents move and retire after I get out of university.

For me, I won't throw away

-My brother's Wolverine comics collection, including Strange comics
-My computer (heh...)
-My bedside lamp (It's an empty liquor bottle with a blister and a lampshade, and I'm proud of having it.)
-My MP3
