@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Hey everyone! Sorry for the long delay between registration and my first post. Real Life had me real busy for a while...mostly college and work.

My name's Val. I'm 23 years old and a Liberal Arts major at Penn State. I also sell gasoline, lotto, and cigarettes at a local convenience store for minimum wage. Meh.

Anyway, I'm a long-time Sonic fan. Sonic 2 was actually the first video game I ever owned (though I still like S3&K the best out of the Genesis / Mega Drive titles). As for Sonic games I own, I have Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast, Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Advance 1, Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Battle, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Sonic Chronicles, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic and the Black Knight, and the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed.

Concerning the various TV series Sonic had, SatAM was, of course, my favorite. Otherwise, I wouldn't even be here to begin with. My least favorites were Sonic Underground (although it did have some interesting aspects about it), and the abomination known as Sonic X.

Beyond that, I have a huge stack of Archie comics in the back of my closet somewhere. I stopped collecting them when the North American Sonic franchise had the "continuity crisis" that started to occur around the time of the Dreamcast (character redesigns, name changes, continuity issues between games, etc.). There are enough continuity issues in the games alone, let alone Archie trying to incorporate all of the games into their already-established comic world. But hey, at least Sonic Fail ('06) retconned itself, right? I just hope Sega doesn't botch "Project Needlemouse" for 2010.

But, yeah. Enough Sonic rambling for now.

My other interests involve my pets: 2 rottweilers, 3 cats, 1 leopard gecko, 2 bettas, 2 other fish, and 1 Dekay's snake. I'm also a huge tech geek. As far as music, I enjoy metal, industrial / EBM, synthpop, goth rock, darkwave, goa, and psytrance. I also enjoy martial arts, airsoft, and I'm a huge roller coaster junkie. I live within 3 hours of Cedar Point, so that makes me a very happy girl. biggrin.gif I also watch anime, some TV (I get most of my stuff on the computer), and video games.

A very interesting intro. smile.gif I happen to enjoy martial arts myself and DID own 2 bettas, though that was years ago now. I have a cat myself and own many of the Sonic games and comics. Although I stopped buying the games at SatSR and stopped with the comics at the late 180s. SatAM was also my favorite. smile.gif I don't draw very often at all, but I certainly do like to look at art.

Greetin's. I hope y'have a good time here.

I have a couple of dogs, myself. We presume they're mutts, as both were strays who decided that living with me was preferable to living on their own. Both were apparently owned before, as they've always been quite well-behaved and I didn't have to house train them.

Anyhow. I wish you and your pets all the best.

Welcome to the forum! That's quite the collection of Sonic stuff you've amassed there. I pretty much gave up after Sonic Adventure 2, although I do have Heroes and Unleahsed and have given up on them numerous times already thanks to the gameplay. Rush is the only decent modern game I own, and Chronicles isn't great but I kinda like it.

You're in the right place if you wanna get on a sane modern-Sonic rant without it getting to the point that people start resorting to insisting we need to 'cleanse' the fandom. Least said about that the better.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it here!

The gameplay of the 3D games certainly isn't the best. Although, I will say that I do enjoy how Black Knight plays. Controls are simple, and you get a good sense of speed without game designers spamming up the levels with springs and dash pads. The Rush games are fun, except I think the game developers used too many instant-death bottomless pits of doom. Chronicles was OK, but the novelty of using the stylus for everything quickly wore off. I'd prefer using the DS buttons. I also liked how equipping different chao could buff player characters.

The Rush games were a little too short too, but still amongst the best recent effort on all formats. And yeah the blind bottomless pits got old really quickly, if anything all it did was increase the games lifespan through needing to replay the levels. But just imagine how short the game would've been without them!

There is a lot of crap that goes along with the recent games, but I don't think they're quite as bad as some small sections of the fandom sometimes make them out to be, they are showing minor signs of improvement here and there since 06, which isn't exactly difficult.

Heh. Rush took me two days of playing to even get used to the constant switching between game screens, let alone the pits of death.

However, I will agree that there has been some improvement in the series as of late. Now if Sega would just cut back on game characters (They have a bunch to work with already, we don't need more) and fix some continuity issues. Especially regarding Blaze/Marine/Silver/Eggman Nega. In the Rush games, Blaze, Marine, and Egg-Nega are said to be from a parallel dimension that basically mirrors the main universe with their own version of the emeralds. However, in Rush, apparently Silver and Nega are from a future timeline. It just irks me that Sega couldn't decide on parallel dimension or future timeline (Nega is in both, so if only they could straighten that out). It would clear up some confusion. I'm not going to go into '06 since it retconned itself anyway and effectively never happened.

Greetings, Divine Insect.

Although my reply here is somewhat late, I wished to share a greeting and welcome you here. I am not one for debate over the recent games (as I rarely take the chance to play games in the first place), but it's good to see your lively discussion here. I very much enjoy your choice of username, as I have long been an admirer of insects and their many complexities.

I am simply one of the flippant local 'artists' here; I supply little more than a sketch-thread and some occasional input in various threads, but it is always good to see new individuals here - hopefully your time proves rewarding. robotnik.gif

I think I mainly got through most of the levels through a bit of trial and error, but mainly thanks to dumb luck whilst having the boost button pressed down so hard it left an imprint on my thumb. It's the same sorta method Chief uses to run the site. But yeah, still an enjoyable game, and also introduced one of the only decent new characters the franchise has produced in a long time in Blaze.

All I'll say is amen to all that before I end up turning your introductory thread into a full out 50 page Sonic debate, which makes for interesting discussion when there are sane, rational people around. Fortunately we're mostly sane enough here. tongue.gif

Blaze is, indeed, awesome. I'm surprised it took Sega this long to make an element-themed character. The ending of Rush Adventure also hints that Marine the Annoying Racoon also has element-related abilities involving water. I'd be curious to see where she goes as a character, if only they tone down her stereotypical, near-incomprehensible Aussie gibberish.
