@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

You will once somebody starts a group, providing you've used Steam. If not, well that's probably because your Internet connection isn't up to scratch and you've never used digital distribution for games (downloading them legally basically).

Start a group on Steam? Could be Seriously fun to get some Co-op or DM games going.

I am all for that. I would be more than happy to start one up. If someone else does be sure to add me.
Here I made one: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SatAM
Just PM on steam or here and I'll add you asap. Although I will be asleep for the next 8 hours so consider ASAP starting after that. If you guys want I can just make it public.

Unfortunatly, not all of us have the internet connection and/or gaming consoles to be able to compete in gaming contests...

That is going to be the case with any contest we end up running. No everyone can write, draw or juggle midgets... there's always going to be some few that can't contribute. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is and we shouldn't limit what others can be apart of because of it.

Not really all that interested in Gaming contests per say. However, I love Vel's and Shorty's ideas. Most of them, in point of fact, were to be among some of the 'official' FUS contests we were planning to go ahead with. As the Contest rules say anybody can start their own though - it doesn't need Mod/Admin oversight (as long as it's not PORN).

And to not have too many contests at the same time/in succession.

Indeed. We'd have to set so only one (or two) active contest(s) run at any given time. Perhaps have other Contests on standby until it's their turn? I know the idea behind the FUS contests were to have one every few months or so since they will have actual winners and prizes.

I cant find you on steam. You can PM me your email that you used for steam or friend me on steam (An7imatt3r). My suspicion is that you wont be able to find me either, this happens more often than I like with my friends. I am just going to make it a public group until everyone joins and ill kick anyone out who doesn't belong. Use the link in my previous post to join.

If you don't have steam and want to join in on all of the fun you can get it here: https://steamcommunity.com/
Steam is digital distribution agent and game manager. Basically you can purchase games online and they are downloaded directly to your computer. Steam keeps track of the cd key for you and you can download the game as many times as you need to at no additional costs. Its way better than buying a disc, because you cant loose it or the stupid cd keys that come with the games. Down side is you need a good internet connection because most games are well over 4GB or more. Steam also lets you see what games your friends are playing, and join them if they are in a joinable game. The community functions are also very cool.

Yeah... Count me out on that. I have a rather sub-par dial-up connection (it claims to be 23k, but is more like 3k) and virtually no spending money. But, good luck to all who can take advantage of that.

Line speeds are normally measured in kilobits/second, while download speeds are measured in kiloBytes/second. To give you a very rough idea by simply converting kilobits to kiloBytes, 23/8 = 2.875kB/s. So your speeds are about what they should be, even though it's terribly slow...

Oh, I'd be lucky to reach that download speed. Mine usually hovers around 1kB/s or lower.

To make this relevant, I'd suggest avoiding adding many features that require higher-speed connections.

I think the contests idea is very good, but I would limit it to 1/month or maybe 2 on occasion. There are a whole list of ideas that can be made with that.

1. Best fanfiction
2. Best fanart
3. Best gamer (adding to gaming idea)

These are just some ideas I have got from reading comments on here and thinking of them myself. There could defintley be a award for winning, which would add competition.
I bet there are a ton of innovative ideas out there.

Ouch, I dont think I could live on thoose speeds. Then again some people just don't spend a lot of time on the internet. My conection speed is litterally 5,000x faster. I on a regular basis download things at 5.2MB/s. Best part is I don't directly pay for it, my school does.

Yeah a rotating group on contest like this would be cool. I am sure we could probably come up with enough varients to have one different contest for each month of the year.

Joined the Steam group but don't think I'm going to be participating in any contests for it or anything like that. I like games but that doesn't mean I'm particularly good at them xD.

Actually, I think they should all go on at the same time, and if popular enough, gain their own subforums entirely. I say this because, by doing this no one is ailienated and can participate in the area of their prowess without having to wait and get bored for the next contest they're good at to arrive. Also, quality writing and fanart may take awhile for people to submit and for others to judge; especially if both are amongst the older crowd and have got other responsibilities like school, a job, or kids to tend to. By having more than one writing contest, and adjusting the deadlines properly, we can eventually have it so that there's a winner once a month instead of once every three months or so.

I think it'd also be cool if, once or twice a year there was an award event for winning enteries in:

1. Best fanfiction
2. Best fanart
3. Best gamer

Or an All-Stars contest, where people who have made winning entries are invited to compete with each other.

I agree with the multiple contest types at any given time. But, I think it should be a combination of 2 or all 3 categories, rather than multiple contests of the same type. If there were multiple writing or drawing contests, then someone who might want to enter those would have to stretch themselves a bit thin at times, likely reducing the quality of both entries.
