@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

As often happens in life it's a simple question that deserves a complex answer. Let me digest it for a while.
"I really think of life as a great expression of joy. And if you take yourself seriously you're going to be defeated I'm afraid.
...Maybe that is the whole recipe of life, is to be in on the joke. Because life is a joke and if you're not in on it you're out.
But if you're in on it, you can make it." - Vincent Price

I want free booze every time I log on. Like, now. mad.gif

Would seriously love to see more projects and such, or more of a push for regular (something monthly) Contests. Something that, as a community, we can all be apart of instead of just refreshing the main page to look for new screenshots.

I'm not particularly sure what to suggest, although I appreciate the passion for the entire FUS project that prompted your question, chief. I'll parrot John on this one and say, competitions!

I heard once of a soldier who owned a parrot. Apparently it had the most awful language. Mind you, I bet something that can say, 'Fuuuuuuck!' in such a gratey voice must be made of win.

'Jesus fucking Christ! Jesus fucking Christ!'
'Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...cking hell!'
'Bollocks'.

'Whose a gobby little twat, then?'
'I am'.

I too think more contests would be a good idea. Indeed, I think finding a way to encourage and showcase fanworks more in general would be a good step, personally.

Hmm well just a thought, since we already voices for a radio show and artist for comics, shouldn't we try to put those two together? Of course me, who is involved in niether of those things, is saying that when I have no idea what amount of work goes into either. Just a sugestion.
More competitions would be cool, but perhaps dont limit it to art. You make somthing out of a triva quiz... I don't know. Or if you are going to do art stuff perhaps make it so people who cant draw/illustrate (me) can participate. I.E a photo shop contest to see who can add somthing funny to a secen of the show. Make them humorus.

I think it would be interesting to see a good fanmade SatAM show starting off from the third season. Partially cause I'd be greedy for voicing as Sally. tongue.gif But I do think I'd like to see something like that. smile.gif

I WAS working on a fan game with Val and a few others, but I had to drop out cause I had other things going on.

*snap* Ooh, idea!

Someone came up with the idea over on SMS - ages ago now - to get anyone interested to come up with a story focussing on how Mobians deal with flea problems. There were several entries and I sent my own in. I made a 1,200ish story out of it and actually found it good fun.

How about we do that - story commissions - and the winner (if you want a winner; the SMS one didn't have one, it was just done to yield a few original stories) gets the prize of a resident artist drawing a scene from their story! We could do it the other way 'round too, if you fancy? Art contests with the winner getting a story written about the picture?

Sounds good. Have to strike the right balance though. Ideas that would grab the attention and imagination of FUSers. And to not have too many contests at the same time/in succession.

I think a SatAM fancharacter contest would be pretty cool, but I kinda liked the idea of story commissions/contests even more (it'd be awesome to have them both though). Stuff like that really gets the mind going and it'd probably be even better with multiple judges to help critique so people knew where to improve. I for one could use something good to read as Archie hasn't been cutting it. Sure there might need to be prizes, but I think Velvet's already gotten the ball rolling with ideas. If I think of any though, I'll post em'.

Can you give a bit more detail on the fancharacter contest, please? On what criteria would it be judged?

I ask because, unless you reply, my fancharacter is better than yours

Well I had several things in mind but I'm beginning to think that maybe its possible for the fancharacter contest and the fanfiction contests to be combined Like for instance, people are encouraged to introduce a fancharacter to the world of SatAM and write a short story with them in it, and are judged by their execution.

Here's an example of how this would work. Lets break the judging into categories:

PERSONALITY: How much does your character's personality stand out amongst the other cast members? Is it unique?

RELEVANCE: How relevant are they to the story you've written? Are they relevant enough or was the character hardly even noteworthy? Were they too noteworthy to the point of illogically interfering with the roles of original cast members? Judges need to back up why they feel this character created a plothole with actual episodes of SatAM (NOT the comics) that blatantly contradict the situation. Otherwise any character's reaction to something is fair game.

ABILITIES: This one's fairly self explanatary. What kind of abilities does the character have and how can/does this aid the others or hurt them if the character is an antagonist? What are their limitations? Are they too powerful to the point they've become a God Mod?

RELATIONSHIPS: How does their personality play off on the other characters and which characters do they play off of? they don't need to connect with every Freedom Fighter or villian, but they need to have definable relationships.

Will Moderators/Admins be in charge of hosting these contests or is this kind of thing free for any member to do? What if everything that happened during a winning conest held weight for the next, as in, these fanfic contests kind of serve as their own sort of continuity?

Perhaps there should also be an non-orginal character contest that reoccuringly emerges with the purpose of writing in characters that haven't appeared in SatAM (ex: Amy, Knuckles, Nack/Fang etc.).

contests would be nice though i'd definitely like to see more than the usual art contests. most of us have internet capability with our gaming consoles. we could do a Brawl contest. call of duty. there's a lot of games out there ^^
