@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Been reading since issue 13.

The story seems fine to me. Better than a few years ago with Tommy the Turtle and ADAM.

But back then Tommy was a background character anyway. Hate him if you will but he was not dragging down the overall story.

...just...

Ugh. How creatively bankrupt does one have to be to have to rely on internet memes just to pad out the dialogue? That 40 cakes meme stopped being funny years ago.

*facepalm*

Just when I saw that page on lulz. What a concidence.

That picture's from one of the luchador stories in Sonic X, so it IS actually a few years old. Terrible, yes, but the Youtube Poop references in his latest Archie Sonic story are so much worse.

Well not everyone would catch the memes/poops thing. I don't know what the hell '40 cakes' is, nor did I know about the 'snoop-ing as usual' thing until someone pointed it out. tongue.gif

No, Ian can write cheery shlock as freely as he can darkfic. He wrote most of the Sonic X stories for one (and let's not forget the Sonic/Teletubbies crossover fic from days of old). He's also largely in control of the direction and tone of the comic. I'm afraid any issue of inconsistency is entirely his fault.

Maybe he just can't write without looking bipolar.xD

I'm not entirely sure, but I think Ian may have been referencing the "Over 9000" meme in this scene.

Looks more like a general reference to any generic DBZ scouter scene

Ugh, that panel is almost phyiscally painful to look like. And did they have to keep Tracy Yardley's horrible, horrible style? I guess Ian thinks if the art doesn't look that good his bad writing will be less easily noticed. Or more to the point - juvenile art goes with juvenile writing.

It's a shame the comic has fallen in the hands of someone who thinks that writing for a young audience means you have to dumb it down/play down to them.
But then that's what set SatAM and the old comic apart from other Sonic media- it didn't play down to it's young audience.
It treated them with at least a modicum of intellectual respect and trust. Archie's just another bad license now.

But if you're in on it, you can make it." - Vincent Price

To be perfectly honest, Tracey's art is part of the reason the comic feels so inconsistent and weird to me, now. It seems like characters' facial expressions keep bouncing back and forth between various extremes, as if they were stuck in a series of Looney Tunes shorts.

That was my first thought (but then, we were already talking about memes, so maybe I was just primed for it). In any case, I'm really glad he didn't actually say "Over 9000"...

Yeah, that probably would have been pretty embarrassing if he came out and said like that, heh. xD

I'd say one of my main problems with the way the comic is being written at the moment is that there are lots of fights with little context to them. Any clever plans that the protagonists or the villains may come up with are either very simple or subservient to the monthly slug-fest. It seemed like it used to be the other way around, with fights being part of a larger set up, instead of the most important part of the plot.

I might as well say this, but Ian's rationale is inefficient. The book realized that the funny AoSth style wasn't working as well as the darker SatAM style and I think that should say something about what people really want from the book. I mean if the incentive is to make money during a duuuuuh, recession, you cant just do lighthearted stories because you alienate mainly the older audiences...as well as the younger audience who appreciates those types of stories. My thing is, children who're more prone to liking lightherted colorful stories dont have stable income to predictably afford this book. We do. Its not like television where all a kid has to do is turn the TV on and not pay for anything in order for your show to get ratings, plain and simple. Thats not to say that there shouldn't be any lighthearted humor, but its easier to fit that in a more mature story than fitting maturity in a comical/lighthearted story, where the maturity element would have to come across as a forced, pretense in order to perserve the lighthearted mood.

What I like most is the different elements and continuing storyline. That's why I prefer Star Trek, Pirates of Dark Water, and others over set premises.

While most stories are character-driven, Peter Pan and Talespin limit their plots and themes. (Pilot flying a plane vs. fighting in Neverland over and over again.)

If it's well-written in either case then it's difficult to say it's bad imo. biggrin.gif
