@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

And that's the end of that chapter *dusts hands*

The extra stuff I had planned will take a little longer than I thought. I've gotta take leave for a little while to sort out some RL stuff, but I'll be back up and running soon.

In the meantime I'd love to hear your overall feedback for this issue's artwork- in particular, anything you think should change or be improved on for the next issue. This is the first full length comic I've drawn, so there's a lot I've learned over these past few months, and a lot I'm still practicing. In any case I hope I've done justice to the script, and to Satam in general. It's been a lot of fun, though, and I've enjoyed hearing everyone's reactions to the story as it plays out. I'm gonna do my best to make the next issue even better icon_e_wink.gif

I absolutly adore your artwork - it's topnotch, on model and captures the essence of SatAM perfectly. I love it! Especially your Sally. smile.gif And like I said before, you made Naugus creepy - thumbs up!

Feedback...

Hm, there are two things I'd change. They don't have anything to do with artwork, which, like I said, is top notch and the comic works very well as it is - the following ones are just suggestions for improvement:

First - the comic would definitivly profit from gutters. Gutter's what the space between each panel is called - you right now have no gutter at all, all panels touch each other. Introducing a gutter will improve both the layout and readability. For example it will help the eye to seperate the panel from each other - it keeps differently colored panels from clashing. The gutter in a comic page is like the space between words in a sentence - you can go without (Latin often did, for example), going without sometimes gives nice effects, but in general having this space around makes things much more comfortable to read and understand.
Oh, another thing - if you plan to play around with a gutter, you could set the background color to black, so that the panels look like they sit directly on the webpage. That can give a real nice effect!

Second - I'd pick another font to text, a comic lettering one instead of the current one. The current one works and is readable; yet changing it to a comic lettering font would make the whole comic look more professional - especially in the combination with your great art. There are a few free-to-use and good comic lettering fonts out there, I can even sent you links some as soon as I am home. The right font can do alot for the style of a comic - even if most readers will never waste a thought about the font, it will set the tone in which the reader hears the voices.

Hope that helps!

I have to stress again, You've done a great work with this first chapter. My suggestions are details, but you asked for what to improve. wink.gif

Nicely done with the chapter ending with Nagus knowing about the Chaos Emeralds. I'm very curious on how they're going to be played in the series, but anyways, great work you guys, I'm always on my toes waitng for the next page every week.

Glad to see reaction to the final page so far is positive. I know there's a lot of tension in the SatAM community about bringing elements from the Games into the story, but I still ultimately believed this was the best direction to take the story in. Rest assured, I intend to keep true to the SatAM spirit regardless, and intend to be very careful in how I implement the Emeralds.

Anyway, congrats to salamander on a job well done, I couldn't have asked for a better partner in all this. smile.gif

Also, big thanks to John Roberts 'n' Chief, whose mon...er, morale has been an excellent motivation to keep me going. happy.gif

And like salamander, I openly invite anyone who is so inclined to let me know in full what they think of my writing thus far, both positive and negative. biggrin.gif

I have to say that this comic has been excellent so far and has felt like a true continuation to SATAM. I'm personally interested with what you are planning for the Chaos Emeralds as, if they are done well, they could prove to provide an interesting element to the SATAM story.

The first chapter started out good and it ended with a bang on how Naugus knows about the Chaos Emeralds.
Personally, I don't think it's a bad decision at all to include them, because if they're used right then it works perfectly.
Can't wait for that 5 week short!

The Chaos Emeralds are only a bad thing if used as a plot device just to create some uber-powerful incarnation of somebody with limitless potential who destroys their enemies and then lives happily ever after. I know you won't be so tacky smile.gif

This was in Ben Hurst's original plans for the third season. Not saying that makes it a sure thing, but I would bet on it.

Thus far, I have to say it's pretty good. I am surprised that you brought the Chaos Emeralds into the story as fast as you did though. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's just something I wasn't expecting so soon. But that's probably because I tend to compare things to either stuff I've done, or to other works (which is really something that you shouldn't do when giving an opinion on anything).

Overall though, it's pretty good, and I do like that the plot is more less to the point, which is what SatAM should be anyway.

Oh dear, Chaos Emeralds. nooo etc.

On the previous pages: a hut in the middle of a huge clearing? On a hill no less. Good thing Robotnik doesn't have anything that can hover and look down. Also, the Great Forest appears to be comprised of pine trees for some reason.
On the other hand, Sally looks cute.

The latest page showing the bleak Robotropolis HQ is lovely.
