@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

on*

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

And do you think Tentacle rape hentai like Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend gives the anime genre a bad name?

Rape in any genre gives that genre a bad name... What kind of effed-up in the head sicko wants to watch someone be raped?

Except this rape stuff in some hentai is with demon tentacles since they can't draw dicks in Japan.

It doesn't matter what it is. Rape is rape... And only someone fucked up in the head likes it...

I love how this topic went from Anime to Hentai and rape.
'Star Wars' is my story, just like my house is my house. So if I wanna paint my house green, even if everyone else thinks it should be red, guess what? I'm gonna paint it Jar Jar! - George Lucas

"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

'Tis the natural progression of a topic about anime donchaknow. Someone should make a "Descent of man" style illustration of this.

The question of consent in fetish-orientated material is a tricky matter. I didn't say 'sexually-orientated' because I think simply the concept of non-con is inescapably fetish. It's one that needs to be handled with care, and it is the reason I love the fetish scene so much: in practice, the people are incredibly respectful and very aware of listening/watching for others' limits. It's a wonderful thing to contemplate that, in fetish, the submissive is the one with the power. It's delicately-balanced and, in a word, beautiful.

I am very wary of any raucously positive reaction to the idea of rape.

Regarding anime itself, I'm not sure but I don't particularly like it. I really prefer Western animation, to be honest.

I haven't read any manga. Nothing against it, I just never got around to it.

Kinda want to read the Gunslinger Girl manga though, since season 1 is my all-time favorite anime. Hopefully I'll have money to spend on stuff like that in the future. Right now all I can afford to do is pay bills and occasionally update my film collection when I can get a break.

What do you think of Hayao Miyazaki's stuff, Ninja Scroll or Wicked City?

I've never seen a Miyazaki film that I didn't like in some way. Sure, some of them fell a little more mediocre than the others. But there was never a film of his I saw that I thought was bad. Spirited Away is currently my favorite film he's ever made, although I'm still be introduced to much more of his works as I'm discovering more anime.

As for the other two, all I have to say is I REALLY WANT TO SEE THOSE!!!!! Blood and violence in a film is like friends at a party: The more, the merrier. smile.gif I saw some clips and trailers for them on a DVD I bought some time ago. They looked awesome! biggrin.gif

AWKWARD BUMP

These two animes have been under my radar for a while now:

Funimation gets the U.S. rights to Evangelion 2.0 and Summer Wars.

Madman is even giving you Aussies theatrical releases of the films. Funimation said the States would get theatrical releases as well, they're just not telling us when yet.

I got into anime mostly because good 2D animation is practically a dead art in America. It's sad to see such a wonderful art form taken over by 3D animation. Don't get me wrong, I love a good 3D show...but I also love my classic 2D goodness. I happened upon Inuyasha one day about 6 years ago and that introduced me to that fact that high quality 2D animation is alive and kicking in Japan. Inuyasha taught me something else as well...167 episodes is too long for a series!!! I tend to enjoy shorter series...all plot and no filler. Some of my favorites are:

Inuyasha (I know it's long...but it did introduce me to anime)
Outlaw Star
Tenchi
Trigun
Clannad
Ef-a tale of memories
Fantastic Children
Now and Then, Here and There
Kanon (2006)
Last Exile
Romeo X Juliet
Scrapped Princess
Xam'd: Lost Memories

And of course Hayao Miyazaki's works....my favorites of his:
Laputa
Nausica of the Valley of the Winds
Tales of Earthsea (actually his son's but I'll include it anyway...he still played a big part in it's creation)
Princess Mononoke
Howl's Moving Castle
