@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

Next week I'm doing finals! :P Among other things. :o

Aw Disneyland. I haven't gone to Six Flags in... 17 years I think. :o Someday I might get a chance to go again. Recently felt like going to the mountains again. We don't go to the mountains often. Maybe once every two summers. Have fun at Disneyland! :)

In other news, I love peppermints. :D

Yeah I don't really do anything in the summers anymore. Back when I was going to school (before college), I'd spend my summers relaxing. Generally stayed home but sometimes went as far as the mountains. Since college though, my summers usually were spent still attending school since I took courses during the summer months as well to finish up my degree a little faster. I'd been working since then up until a month ago when I started school. So... no, haven't really enjoyed my last few summers. xD

My crazy friend wanted to go to disney, at the same time my crazy sister wanted to go to disney, so my family decided to kidnap my friend and one of my sister's friends and go to Disneyland.

I can relate to Morgan completely. Summers for me were mostly spent taking courses so I could get my degree done in 4 years (most do music ed in 5, I didn't want that). Now I'm looking for work, and it's giving me a lot of anxiety to not know what's going to happen to me. We'll see.

OK... Now, I'm starting to hate the rain... I can't mow the lawn when it's wet, because it just bales up in the mower deck and then the deck has to be turned off and slammed up and down to dislodge it and then fired back up to spit a glob of wet hay. And yes, I said hay. For the newcomers, or those not paying attention: My yard used to be part of a cattle pasture. As such, it has all that fast growing grass and weeds that cattle and buffalo like, and that can be cut and baled into hay. It also has a lot of ruts and partially exposed large rocks that make it so that I can't mow with the deck down without tearing up the blades. After a good rain, it takes the yard a couple of days to dry out enough to be mowed without clogging the mower very much. Unfortunately, it's been raining too much for the past 3 weeks and the yard is rather overgrown at this point. And it's raining again right now... Plus, I'm rather allergic to about 95% of what's out there, including the ceder trees.

According to some story, the Holy City or something to do with Indians keep Lawton from having tornadoes as well. However, Lawton's last tornado tore through the area of the city I presently live in back in 1979. I'm told the house I live in though was still standing even though the tornado went right across the top of it and demolished the surrounding houses. That doesn't mean I'm okay with a swirling mass of death though. ;)

And I found out the exciting high risk area wasn't actually over Lawton (earlier today they said it was). It only went halfway through the county eastward. So east of I-44. We were just in the moderate risk area. However, we didn't really get much of anything except rain, little hail and some wind. Oklahoma City and Norman fared worse though. Someone we know in Edmond had four tornadoes in the area. Not sure how many went over their house but as far as I know their house is fine. Or at least still standing.

Actually, our town's reasoning has more to do with geographic location. Something about the contour of the land and both of the rivers or something... I'm not sure anyone ever took the time to explain it to me properly...

We get to spend Halloween in hell though. I mean whats better then that?

You understand that the concept of Hell = Eternal torment and suffering, right? As in, unending horrors the likes of which can't be properly grasped by mortal minds... Stuff that would make you wish you could die again, but you won't be able to, because souls are immortal... And worst of all would be the skylight, which lets you see the perfection and absolute awesomeness of Heaven, but you'd never be able to get anywhere near it. Plus, they wouldn't have any candy down there. Ever seen the science experiment where they burn sugar into charcoal? That's the closest you'd ever get to candy down there... Needless to say, it's a place best avoided...

They're too expensive. Here have a rabid scorpion.

Wait... Can rabies even infect cold-blooded creatures? And if it could, wouldn't it kill a bug before it could actually go insane?

Never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.

Indeed. Unless you're working on something like historical fiction, where the base audience will call you out of discrepancies, you don't usually need to know every single little detail from the past. And more generally, trying to be too realistic can actually detract from fictional works. Because reality sucks most of the time. That's why we have fiction in the fist place: as an escape from reality.

Research is important.

Few things pull somebody faster out of a storyline that stumbling about something that your reader facepalm at the sheer lack of knowledge.

True. Though not directly in contrast to my previous statement, you do need to know stuff about your subject. You can't go around using stuff like "people only use 10% of their brain" in a modern or futuristic setting, because it's wrong. Likewise, you shouldn't fall into the trap of "phonier than a $2 bill" (it's actually "$3 bill"; $2 are actual [albeit rare] currency). So, yes, if you're going to do something involving a specific place or time, it does help to know what you need to about that setting. But don't get so obsessed with the details as to lose track of the story. Sure, there's always goinna be some nitpickers. But as long as you can avoid glaring inconsistencies or flat-out wrongfulness, you should just go with what your expected base readers would probly pick up on. Anything more than that can be filed under the "nifty bonuses to work in if it doesn't mess with the story" type of stuff.

Yeah I don't really do anything in the summers anymore. Back when I was going to school (before college), I'd spend my summers relaxing. Get a good ol' fashion outdoor manual labor job. Then you'll at least appreciate summer more, since your winters will totally suck.

Hahaha oh bite me you old man! *wedgies John!* I have too worked! ...kinda... sort of... maybe.

Well okay. I repaired computers when I felt like it. :P Ooh... waking up at 9am or before hasn't happened since we closed the store though. :o Except when birds or car alarms wake me up! A car alarm woke me up at 5am today. :hmmph: I have had to recently be up at 9 ish I think for when my dad had business on base and I wanted to go along. Sat in the lobby and played with my DS but it was a fun trip. :) Not sure how long ago it was that I was up at 8am though and had breakfast for the first time in...years.

Bright and early is excellent for a busy day! Bright and early should be mandatory, especially with my recent intense studying. xD
