In other news, I love peppermints.

Actually, our town's reasoning has more to do with geographic location. Something about the contour of the land and both of the rivers or something... I'm not sure anyone ever took the time to explain it to me properly...According to some story, the Holy City or something to do with Indians keep Lawton from having tornadoes as well. However, Lawton's last tornado tore through the area of the city I presently live in back in 1979. I'm told the house I live in though was still standing even though the tornado went right across the top of it and demolished the surrounding houses. That doesn't mean I'm okay with a swirling mass of death though.
And I found out the exciting high risk area wasn't actually over Lawton (earlier today they said it was). It only went halfway through the county eastward. So east of I-44. We were just in the moderate risk area. However, we didn't really get much of anything except rain, little hail and some wind. Oklahoma City and Norman fared worse though. Someone we know in Edmond had four tornadoes in the area. Not sure how many went over their house but as far as I know their house is fine. Or at least still standing.
You understand that the concept of Hell = Eternal torment and suffering, right? As in, unending horrors the likes of which can't be properly grasped by mortal minds... Stuff that would make you wish you could die again, but you won't be able to, because souls are immortal... And worst of all would be the skylight, which lets you see the perfection and absolute awesomeness of Heaven, but you'd never be able to get anywhere near it. Plus, they wouldn't have any candy down there. Ever seen the science experiment where they burn sugar into charcoal? That's the closest you'd ever get to candy down there... Needless to say, it's a place best avoided...We get to spend Halloween in hell though. I mean whats better then that?
Wait... Can rabies even infect cold-blooded creatures? And if it could, wouldn't it kill a bug before it could actually go insane? They're too expensive. Here have a rabid scorpion.
Indeed. Unless you're working on something like historical fiction, where the base audience will call you out of discrepancies, you don't usually need to know every single little detail from the past. And more generally, trying to be too realistic can actually detract from fictional works. Because reality sucks most of the time. That's why we have fiction in the fist place: as an escape from reality.Never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.
True. Though not directly in contrast to my previous statement, you do need to know stuff about your subject. You can't go around using stuff like "people only use 10% of their brain" in a modern or futuristic setting, because it's wrong. Likewise, you shouldn't fall into the trap of "phonier than a $2 bill" (it's actually "$3 bill"; $2 are actual [albeit rare] currency). So, yes, if you're going to do something involving a specific place or time, it does help to know what you need to about that setting. But don't get so obsessed with the details as to lose track of the story. Sure, there's always goinna be some nitpickers. But as long as you can avoid glaring inconsistencies or flat-out wrongfulness, you should just go with what your expected base readers would probly pick up on. Anything more than that can be filed under the "nifty bonuses to work in if it doesn't mess with the story" type of stuff.Research is important.
Few things pull somebody faster out of a storyline that stumbling about something that your reader facepalm at the sheer lack of knowledge.
Get a good ol' fashion outdoor manual labor job. Then you'll at least appreciate summer more, since your winters will totally suck.Yeah I don't really do anything in the summers anymore. Back when I was going to school (before college), I'd spend my summers relaxing. Generally stayed home but sometimes went as far as the mountains. Since college though, my summers usually were spent still attending school since I took courses during the summer months as well to finish up my degree a little faster. I'd been working since then up until a month ago when I started school. So... no, haven't really enjoyed my last few summers.

I don't think Morgan has, or ever will, work a real day in her life. Sometimes waking up before 9am is a hardship I wish I was blessed with.
Hahaha oh bite me you old man! *wedgies John!* I have too worked! ...kinda... sort of... maybe.
Well okay. I repaired computers when I felt like it.
Bright and early is excellent for a busy day! Bright and early should be mandatory, especially with my recent intense studying.
