Hey guys! Guess what?

Are you freakin' kidding me?
Looks like you missed a backdoor.
Going back to my question from last time: Why us?

I don't know whether I ended up leaving in a backdoor that they exploited again or if there's a new one they got in through. Since they made posts to FUS's front page using our Wordpress's admin account, it's possible they got ahold of the Wordpress password somehow.

So... its Wordpress' fault now?

Gladly.

No idea, really. We think a Wordpress security breach was how they got in last time, but our Wordpress is currently up to date and shouldn't have security issues.

Anyway, you guys may have noticed FUS went down last night and didn't come back up until a couple hours ago. That's 'cause our webhost noticed the malware on our site and pulled the plug, and to add insult to injury, they called it a terms of service violation (like we wanted to get hacked...). chief had to call 'em just to get things back up so we can back up our files in preparation for either another wipe or a move to another host. Since Bluehost is treating us like the criminal rather than the victim, we're strongly inclined to move to a new host.
This means don't count on FUS being up too long right now. I have no idea when it'll go down again, but it will probably be soonish.

Well either your new host is rather poor or Bluehost has decided to dedicate the virtual equivalent of a netbook on dialup to the site out of spite. The site is almost unusable. If a page finishes loading in under 90s it's doing remarkably well. Even posting this took about that long and all it had to do was post a form. Better than yesterday though. A slow site is better than no site.
I hate WP more every time I have to use it. It makes me feel dirty.

Thing is I can't even look into it just yet because a client is bugging to work on his site, and that's sucking up all my time this morning. I'm almost done, though.
If I had to guess, I think maybe hackers are running something that's hogging all of the CPU. But right now it's only a guess.

yeah, there was a strange program named "host" that was hogging the CPU. I killed it and the site is running fine now. I don't know whether the program will start up again on its own; let's hope not.
If we move the site to a new host will that end this mess?

No because we would just be transferring this mess with us. Kef has to manually get rid of the crap on our server.. Which just sucks. Cause hard to make sure you get it all.

Yeah, the decision to move to a new host would be much more relevant to us, the admins, than to you guys. It looks like chief wants to stay with Bluehost for now, though, so that's what we're gonna do. (EDIT: We didn't. We're on DigitalOcean now.)
There are three main reasons I want to get off Bluehost. One is that to wipe the server we have to file a support ticket, which is just ridiculous. We should be able to just click a button and be done with it. That's why the forum was unavailable for a whole day or so last month, because we had to sit and wait and wait and wait for them to wipe the server. I consider leaving the site unusable for that long over a function that should be readily available to us unacceptable. By the way, since we're sticking with Bluehost, we will have to do this again.
The second reason is that when they pulled the plug on FUS, they called it a "terms of service violation" -- as if we wanted to be hacked. We're the victim, not the criminal! Now, when chief called them, he found out they were only concerned about security and they lump all cases where they have to take down a site under "terms of service violation" -- but, in my eyes, that doesn't make the nastygram that chief got in his e-mail any less thoughtless. It really would not be that hard to send out a different, more appropriate message for this case.
The third reason is price. If we switch to Linode, which is where I wanted to go the last time we switched servers, then our hosting would cost rather less. The server currently costs $30/month, and on Linode I know we could get $20/month for a better server than the one we have now, and we could possibly even go with their $10/month plan. But it's chief's money, not mine, and he doesn't mind paying the higher price.
But chief's the owner of FUS and he's the one who pays for it, so it's his decision.
