Supposing they don't blow themselves up, that is.
How many Apollo rockets were lost in the process? (including test vehicles) before they achieved success?

Uh only one Apollo Mission technically failed. The other partial failure was a flight error but the crew made it back safely.

I know 1 failed but there were other rockets and test craft that were lost in the process as well

I was referring to the fact that some of the more modern space stuff has been getting destoryed. Sure, it'll be awesome if they can send a crew to mars. But they've gotta be able to have the confidence of those who fund them to proceed. People aren't as gung-ho to get into space as they were in the 50's and 60's. Nowadays, they're more willing to write off the space program if more manned craft explode.

"In the '50s going to the Moon was Science Fiction, Now it's ancient history"
Challenger was because the unusual cold weather during launch weakened one of the O-Rings on the booster.
Columbia was a piece of foam broke off during launch and they never caught it. After that the crew took one space walk to look at the shuttle to see if there was damage during launch.

Both were the result of neglegence. The Challenger wasn't just that, though. It was NASA's own huberus taking precidence over the science that was sreaming at them to abort the launch. They were behind schedule and didn't want to get further behind, so they ignored all of the warnings. And look what happened. Should they do this sort of thing again, I'd say that you can kiss the space agency goodbye.

1: Die Hard. Anyone who doesn't know this one is dead to me.
2: Die Harder. Anyone who likes this one is dead to me.
3: Die Hard With A Vengeance. A hell of a lot better than the second one.
4: Live Free or Die Hard. You have to get the unrated version, but it's worth it.
5: A Good Day To Die Hard. Proof of why John needs someone to save. Good, but the villains weren't tough eough to be a serious threat.
