I wouldn't say I hate Star Wars, though. It's in my "I can't watch this without MSTing it" category. I just don't like it when people geek-out about it.
Speaking of techstuff:
A word of advice: If you can get yourself a good job with a descent paycheck that doesn't evolve soul-crushing work, TAKE IT!!! Many years ago, I actually had a chance to get a descent job at Lockheed, but didn't want to leave the farm... It was one of those 99% assured jobs that comes from a member of the extended family. I can't help but sometimes kick myself for not pursuing that job... Can you guys imagine me if I wasn't stuck on the farm, well below the povery line?

I'd say that my view of Star Wars in general is summed up nicely by that last sentence.
My biggest draw to Star Wars was always the EU. I found the movies even better after I started keeping the EU in mind.
and then Disney nuked it.
I'm not nerdy enough to know what you're talking about... And I'm not feeling up to making a joke involving EU being pronounced as "eww".
Also, why does your avatar make me think of Black Lagoon? (Misk's avatar, that is. Cheif's is just a beaver who HAS THE POWER).

Expanded Universe. It's a term for any Star Wars books, games, etc, that are stories seperate from the films.
Disney removed them from canon.

The expanded universe had some of the best parts of the series. To ignore it is to deny yourself the majority of the bounty. And I am laughing at your loss of your precious EU.
HA. HA. HA.
It be like if Sonic had a really great cartoon that got canceled for no good reason.

Eh, to be fair if they tried to keep the EU in the new films, there'd most likely be an abundance of checks to make sure a plot point makes sense or certain characters are alive and where they're currently situated in the timeline.
Ditching the EU (or the majority of it) makes sure the mainstream audience can watch it and still have it make sense as a movie without having to read the years worth of books, comics and other stuff.

The official claim is that the LEGENDS brand, the former Expanded Universe, are ambiguously canon until the new Canon states otherwise.
Also technically Dark Horse Non-canonized the old Marvel EU, then they did the same to their own EU with their recent Ongoing Star Wars titles. On top of that Force Unleashed Non-Canonized many of the books (about the formation of the Rebel Alliance) which is now being non-canonized by Star Wars Rebels.
It isn't the first time they've overhauled the Expanded Universe.
And don't get me started on the Infinities and Star Wars Tales Canons.....

I wasn't hoping that the new movies would be designed around the EU. I mean, the prequel trilogy certainly wasn't, and the EU was already around by the time Episode I came out. It caused some chaos for a few years but the EU managed to find workarounds.Eh, to be fair if they tried to keep the EU in the new films, there'd most likely be an abundance of checks to make sure a plot point makes sense or certain characters are alive and where they're currently situated in the timeline.

That's more or less what I was expecting this time around, until Disney dropped the nuke.
Also, why does your avatar make me think of Black Lagoon? (Misk's avatar, that is. Cheif's is just a beaver who HAS THE POWER).
I couldn't tell you why it reminds you of that. all I can tell you is that my avatar was custom-drawn on request.
The Thrawn Trilogy comes to mind (one of the biggest losses with the complete reset, in my opinion)The expanded universe had some of the best parts of the series. To ignore it is to deny yourself the majority of the bounty. And I am laughing at your loss of your precious EU.

It seems that by using Adblock to remove Facebook and Google has sped up the loading of all FUS pages IMMENSELY. Someone post an off-site picture not hosted by imigur and I'll let y'all know if it shows up without slogging down my browser. I'll still not be able to see videos, though.
