Well...I'm currently visiting family in KC, MO right now. This should definitely be an interesting 4th of July weekend. How so? Well...

I'm somewhat libertarian, but I'm definitely not one of those Ron Paul kooks.
Yeah, hope that video was illuminating though. I recommend the book because it shows you how much this "fascism light" (this Obama bailout-based socialism) has really hurt the nation.
But I agree with you as I am a "somewhat libertarian as well."
I'd like to know detail wise what you find so 'kooky' about Libertarianism though before I give my complaints.

Not enough fireworks Tony
Bear in mind: That's for the NEIGHBORHOOD I'm in. Not a city or for a park festival...just ONE neighborhood.
But yeah...it's probably not enough.

Let's be thankful that we don't live here.

In what way are you pluralists though? Third option or Fourth? It's a pretty broad term. I am basically somewhere in between a pluarlist and a libertarian myself, but I find the belief in a "victimless" crime as idiotic...I have lost loved ones to drugs - I saw their corpses choked dead on their own fluids in their own floor- and my family were indeed victims... Only a fool could deny this reality.

Vice only scratches the surface on that. Look for a little documentary called Camp 14.

I've heard Ron Paul is a bit out of synch with the rest of the Libertarian Party, so I can't comment on them, but I'm not crazy about Ron Paul's states' rights thing. For instance, he said "The Civil Rights Act of 1964 not only violated the Constitution and reduced individual liberty; it also failed to achieve its stated goals of promoting racial harmony and a color-blind society." As far as I know, he hasn't exactly advanced any better ideas as to how to achieve that goal.

That's a lot of politics on all fronts. A lot of people say "this is wrong" or "that needs to be fixed" or even "do something about something". However we rarely see any action because neither side proposes a solution or alternative.

His son differs with him quite a bit and is seen as more in touch (for one he really wants Baener to stop bickering and simply defund King George III Obama's corrupt administration instead of suing like a self-centered baby. I am seeing some great ideas from the right right now about how to deal with the corruption and ineptitude, but with a mostly Democratic super-majority and a bunch of R.H.I.N.O's, you are not going to see any big changes until this years senatorial elections. But I will look into Ron for you and see if all that's true and if he had better ideas.
He does have one point though...big government has done more to increase racial tension than help because it politically polarizes people. What's best for social justice? Grass-roots reform, not politics at all. Those policies will practically make themselves when the people make 'love thy neighbor as thy self' their own personal policy.

Shadow, I know about the camps ...Just didn't want to be too much of a downer on a holiday. Thanks for the documentary though, I will look it up.

I'm basically a fourth with some caveats, but the main tenant of the political philosophy that I back is that it takes into account that people have varying needs and that the government should only act in a way to accommodate in a manner where the diverse requirements, ideals, and needs are met equally so to minimize suffering. In other words, any law or action by the government should be for the common good of all, not a few who happen to have privilege or are cronies of who is in power.
Personally I am not one that can stand by and mock or belittle someone who is in bad straits even if it's caused by their own poor decisions, (i.e. "it must suck to be you", "do you mind being poor where I don't have to look at you," or "you should've done this, but you're stupid and screwed, ha ha"). In my opinion any political philosophy that does so is pretty bad and I wouldn't want to be a part of it. The only people who could follow such a philosophy are those who have no empathy and only care from the mighty dollar, which might as well be their god.
For me if one person suffers we all suffer, or at least that's the way it should be.
Anyway, off of my soapbox now....
