@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

Some say that he knows 2 facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong. And that 61 years ago he accidentally introduced Her Majesty The Queen to a Greek racialist. All we know is, I'm going to the tower now to have my head cut off, and he is called The Stig.

Heh, I'm stuck (offline) with the PS3 version of Legendary Edition, so modding is out of the question.  I -have- seen pics/videos of some amusing Skyrim mods in action tho'.

{edit: found another funny video ^.^}

I pray all this smoothes out. It usually does with willful people. He probably just needs to get a pacemaker or a readjustment  and reevaluation of his medical needs.

Man, you should see the kids in Special Olympics. Many have physical disabilities but they can run a typical person into the ground athletically. I've worked with them for years and when you see a guy with no legs from the knee down run the 400 yard dash and get a gold medal in a state-wide championship…well it shows you how much people can achieve despite their predispositions. It’s something I believe we are losing in our deterministic and vainly entitled postmodern America. It doesn’t matter what way we are born, we can change and grow and change beyond that, and even become stronger because we had the incentive to do so.

Did you watch Jeopardy! a week ago? They had a blind guy on there, Eddie Timanus. He was a five-time champion in 1999, which was the maximum allowed back then, so he was undefeated until the 2000 Tournament of Champions. He didn't win this time around, but he had a decent shot at it, since he had the most money going into Final Jeopardy.

Sure, but the satisfaction of a job well done is good enough for me.

BTW, speaking of Jeopardy!, today -- after I waited a whole week to see Arthur Chu play again -- they interrupted the end of Double Jeopardy! to report a fire. Then they cut back just in time for commercials, then when the commercials were through, they started the news five minutes early to cover the fire some more. I can understand interrupting Double Jeopardy!, annoying as that is, but could the news really not wait five minutes? Sheesh...

Unfortunately, our local Channel 4 pulls this crap all the time. We, the viewers, are their source of income, but in moments like this they throw us under the bus. And the worst part is they can get away with it because they know it's not going actually cost them money.

I wish I could figure out a good way (short of just torrenting Jeopardy! episodes or something) to cost them money anyway just so they'd stop doing it.

Well the consumers are sovereign (unless you are in the U.S.S.R xD).  If you amassed a big enough mob. it would happen.

Take for instance the case with McDonald’s and their controversy over the quality of their menu ever since Super Size Me and various other investigations. Government didn't make that happen, the consuming public did. Once people are aware of something's import they start to do something about it.

Jeopardy! butchers the heart of my inner editor. When I read its proper name I feel like the speak has turrets syndrome.  Speaking of which...I one time yelled at the TV when watching teen jeopardy as a 13 year old. Why?

Catagory: Gods/Godesses

Answer: "Ra, Isis, Orisis."

Questioner: "What are the Norse Gods?"

What's the most stupid thing you've seen on Jeopardy!?

There have been some times I screamed "NO!" at a Jeopardy! contestant, but I don't remember any of them except today. The category was "dialects" and the clue was (paraphrasing from memory), "Kansai-ben is a dialect spoken in cities such as Osaka and Kyoto, which are on this Japanese island." The first guy to buzz in guessed, "What is Hokkaido?" Arthur Chu followed with the correct response, "What is Honshu?" I study Japanese (and, as it happens, my studies have included a bit of Kansai-ben), so I know that one pretty well. :P For what it's worth, Hokkaido doesn't have any cities most people have ever heard of, except maybe Sapporo. Honshu has most of the big cities, including Tokyo.

Obviously, I wouldn't expect most people to know the answer to that one at all, and at least he did name an island of Japan. But it strikes me as odd that he knew enough to know Hokkaido is a Japanese island, but not enough to know that there aren't really any famous cities on it.

Hokkadio, like Okinawa, had a very unique culture before Japanese Imperialism as well. Ainu and their languages are surely very different than Honshu's Kansai-Ben and should be noticable to those wanting to study or answer questions in that field. Afterall they have a unique heritage. It's sad to see those languages, those unique forms of expression, growing more and more endangered.

Care to educate us on these differing dialects? If I recall the aforementioned accent is the "redneck" accent of Japan, correct?
