Sorry, but I'm a little less than sympathetic here.

I highly doubt even he would make a prank about something that intense.
Making somebody fall in love with him and then breaking his heart is all fine and dandy, but making up some cancer story, why, that just isn't done! Seriously, do you really think somebody with a history for attention whoring behavior is somehow above making up some cancer story (which is just about the #1 way of getting attention)? If he does have it, he's the boy who cried wolf anyway.

Who's joking?
By the way, I've had a cancer scare myself recently. Still do, sort of. I've got a strange mole on one of my calves. It's the size of a dime and multiple colors, and it itches, when it never used to itch. And the worst part? I can't even go to a dermatologist to get it looked at because I'm too goddamn agoraphobic. So there's actually a small but nonzero chance that I'm dying of cancer myself. Still doesn't make me sympathetic to Reed one bit.

Speaking of cancer... I've put this off for quite a while... But my dad has cancer. First bone cancer, and low Leukemia... That's why it's taking so long to get my new house moved in. He got sick again in the fall, so we couldn't get ahold of the folks he had lined up to pour the concrete. And now the weather's too cold and wet. That's also why I've been mentioning taking care of my grandpa (he had a stroke a little over 2 years ago, and is paralized on his right side and is learning to talk again [he's got infliction and "Goddamnit" down rather well, but most everything else is "boom"]; and he's diabetic). Since my dad's down (and currently in the hospital for treatment for the next 21 days), he's cut way back on the winter oilfield work and sold all the cattle, so there's not enough work for me to work for him as more than a gopher now and then. So, now my primary job is to fill in when there's no one else to watch my grandpa and to generally hang out with his other caretakers when dad doesn't need someone to do gopher work.

You don't know half the people I know. That's for sure...

I had my Grandmother die from ovarian cancer that ended up ravaging her entire body; I'll never forget the last time I saw her alive: she looked like a skeleton with skin wrapped over it. So, I'm one that doesn't take the subject of cancer lightly; if you had to see someone suffer from terminal cancer you'd understand. It's not something to take lightly or to joke around about.

There are still dipshits and assholes in this world, and many of them don't care. They'll joke about cancer because they're dipshits and assholes. They either don't know how stupid they are, or are doing it to purposely rile everyone else up.
On a brighter note: Happy New Year from Kansas, Y'all! Hope 2014 treats us all better.

I'm not taking it lightly. I really hate him that much.
Opinion noted.

My only living Grandfather has cancer. I joke about it all the time. It's the only way to keep if from terrifying me.

Here, here! Enough of the heavy dialogue; although we still have a couple of hours left of 2013.

I still have a couple of hours left... I'm also being boring this year and drinking alone at home watching Dr.Who. But thats cause 90% of my friends work at the local mill and are sadly stuck on night shift tonight.
So to be fair we kinda knew that and last Friday we had a good party.

I'm spending it at home with my family; my boy and I got to watch the festivities from the east coast feed at 9:00. My wife went to bed early (she's got a cold).

That sucks (for your wife). I know a few people coming down with a bad cold recently in my area.
My daughter is with her mother tonight, dunno what they are up to but I'm sure I will hear all about it tomorrow.

We've all been passing the cold around since a family member gave it to my son over Christmas; I've caught it, but it hasn't affected me that bad except lethargy.
