Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

Hey guys, I'm dying to get me a Netbook now that I'm taking a course they'll pay me $1000 when I'm done around June 9.

I've checked many stores near my area to see if they have the one I want.
(This one: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39029 ... -11,00.htm )
But none of them do. I've found it on eBay and my friend has an account so I could have him buy it but I'm skeptic. Already had a bad experience with a camcorder that came defective and though I did sent it back and got my money back it was a hassle to deal with it.
Now, 2 days ago I went to a store I completely forgot existed in my own town and they can order it. This is, there with shipping and damn taxes it will be about $510, while online the most will be $430. Store, however, offers maintenance and help during the process of claiming the warranty if need be so that would be less of a pain.

My very first laptop was bought online and it lasted me a full 4 years before it started breaking down at the lid's hinges and the the mother board died, but it was 4 years without any sort of maintenance and not a single virus because I'm paranoid about that and had the thing full of anti-virus/malware stuff.

So, what do you guys think. Anyone with online buying experiences before. Should I save myself some money and still get good customer support or spend some more to have it from a near by store?
I also will try to check larger stores at the capital like Best Buy, only it's a 2 hour trip. But I do want the best and more convenient way if there's any troubles.

My online buying experience only comprises of purchasing DVDs. I always liked to get electronics from a store, mainly since I handle the shipping from the store to my home. That, and the warrenties are good.
But...

When buying online, I do always look at the consumer ratings of whoever's selling the product. Especially when buying from Amazon or E-bay. (If I'm buying from Best-buy.com 'cuz I'm too lazy to go there myself, I'm not so paranoid.) And I read whatever reviews are posted about the seller. If there are none, I don't buy. If the reviews suck, I don't buy. This keeps me from "newbies" lying to pawn off their old iPod or something like that.

Not sure if you have any best buys around, but their warranties are the best I have come across. plus their prices are not shabby see: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8068507709.

I think thats the same one, although perhaps not considering the model number has an aditional b on it. On the plus side you could go check it out if you have one near you.
Otherwise online I always use newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834220504. They will give you an option to purchase an extended warranty(70$ I think, on top of the one that already comes with the product.) and they almost always have free shipping plus no taxes. Trust me they are great. Just recently the messed up my order and rather than making me send back the product that they sent me by mistake, they just let me keep it after refunding me (This is the first time they ever messed up anything for me). They will not screw you over.

So with the warranty and shipping you should only be spending ~450$. But local stores are always good because you have someone to talk to and take it back to rather than having to deal with shipping. Your call in the end, but Newegg has never let me down, thats where I got my netbook.

We do have a Best Buy at the capital. I'll have to arrange a trip over, or at least call.
Stores on the US ones don't ship to us though.

I've never even heard of Newegg before, so I have no idea how they work.

Not sure either on how newegg works but my friend helped me build this good gaming laptop I have since where he works at, he got a discount per-se on items when he ordered there. I can only offer this advice with delivery.

AVOID UPS AT ALL COSTS!

I've just had bad experiences with them showing up whenever and no way to tell them when a good time is especially when I call them to reship the item for pick-up and they pick louswy times the driver does for when I'm at work.

Done there with the little rant, but eh. Best of luck on a new laptop.

It depends on where you live. Every branch of UPS (or any delivery service for that matter) works differently.

The branch where I live now (Raleigh North Carolina area) is really good. I used to live in Central New York, and they would always accidentally give our stuff to our next-door neighbors.

My uncle flies UPS Air in Alaska, so I'm sure it's pretty good there too.
