would you have wanted them to be Knuckles or Metal Sonic? As much as I like the idea of Naugus getting more character development, this is just a question as to what if it WASN'T Naugus. My vote goes to Metal Sonic because it's a badass and it's really underused.

I think pretty much everyone figured it was Knuckles, so that'd probably have been the most satisfying conclusion.

This question seems to come up a lot, I feel.
Regardless, though, of the two? Definitely Metal Sonic. Knuckles, I think, could've worked too, but those glowing red eyes screamed "Metal Sonic" to me from the second I first saw them all those years ago as a young'un.

If it weren't for the SatAM bible stating that those eyes belonged to Naugus, I would have said that it was Metal Sonic.

The shape of those eyes was of a hedgehog's, including the little nose, if you look close enough. I think either the artist did it on purpose even after being told it was Naugus or they just changed to him last minute or something, because the eyes just don't fit with the guy even if it was meant to be him. So Metal Sonic, even if maybe it wasn't even a robot.

I always thought it was Knuckles myself, course most of that guess was out of hoping. Would be cool to see the rivalry between red and blue.

Metal Sonic seems more logical... Even though Iwould have loved to see Knuckles too. But he could have brought in as another villain later in the season.

honestly, i don't know why Len decided to say it was Naugus. In fact, i don't know why Naugus was even conceived. I might have said this before somewhere, but there's something about "magic" in SatAM that feels out of place. Naturalism vs. Industrialism seems to be one of the major themes of SatAM, and considering the show already places strong emphasis on science and mechanical invention, magical elements don't really need to be there. This could just be a personal irk to me. What do you guys think?

I kind of have to agree with you there, and I think that's where possibly the ABC executives may have pulled the plug on it. (Probably a 1% chance, but what other good reason is there? The executive thing sounds reasonable I guess, but the ratings thing is weird, especially for its time slot.) It would have "jumped the shark" for the show, except if Robotnik returns midway during the 3rd season. However, the only we'll know about this for sure is if or when Ben Hurst releases the outline for season 3.

My sisters and i actually thought for sure that it was going to be Shadow the Hedgehog...
...Until we read the interview that explained that it was supposed to be Naugus just before the Void closed again.
We were pretty bummed. Shadow would have made a sweet sidekick for Snively for a while there.
Though i would have LOVED to have seen Knuckles come in, too. Ah, Season 3... what could have been.

I hadn't seen the episode till after I knew it was Naugy.
Between the Knuckles and Metal Sonic I would have preferred Knux but it looks more like Metal.

Metal Sonic definately. No way it could be Knux. Knuckles is a guardian who lives on the floating island. Why would he help Snively?? Besides he does not have red eyes and has no ability to turn his eyes red like Naugus could with his magic or Metal Sonic could naturally.
