@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

On a note of criticism, no amount of cool looking animation will make up for a terrible story! God help us all if this thing comes to fruition because I seriously doubt anything good can come from this!

True. I've never read it, but...

QUOTE ("furrykef":16lqn959)
It has been attached.

I'll be fair and give it 10 pages to interest me (that's common for movie producers when they read scripts, right? ).

EDIT - I read maybe 2 pages. Even though it looks like a movie script, the format is all wrong. "The year is 2012"? How do we know that? Does a title appear and tell us? Then it should read:

BLANK SCREEN

A title appears. it reads "Year 2012".

...or something like that. And it is not common to put ages next to the name of the character names before they speak (if those are, in fact, ages I am seeing). Instead it should read:

A LARGE MAN walks to a PODIUM on the STAGE. He looks to be about 40 years of age.

And the action is all too unclear. I'm not reading the rest of it, and it doesn't surprise me that an actual movie producer wouldn't either.

Yeah, don't forget paying for FILM SCHOOL was his excuse for pirating and selling copies of SatAM. Although at almost the exact same time he had enough money to spend five hundred dollars on a Sally doll.

QUOTE ("FreakyFilmFan4ever":16lqn959)
Well, that's just common practice to copyright everything you write. The Hollywood guys have more ability to steal than we do, only because they've been doing it for years and they can profit from it better than we can.

Of course he doesn't actually own any of the characters or the devices he uses, so he can't copyright it anymore than someone can copyright any other fanfic.

No, he can still copyright the film to keep people from stealing it. It's just that he'd still need Sega's permission before using any of the characters. Basically, he'd own the copyright to his own story, but it'd be considered a derivative work of the first Sonic game, so anybody who would publish the movie would need the permission of both Sonmanic and Sega.

At least, that's my understanding of it.

Yeah, but he's already freely released it to the public anyway.

Technically everything is copyrighted as soon as you write it whether you register the copyright or not. But registration gives you proof that you wrote it, and you must register the copyright to seek damages against another party. (My understanding is that the laws are slightly different in the UK, where the "poor man's copyright" of sending yourself a copy in the mail to get it postmarked is enough proof of authorship. A lot of people think that works in the U.S., too, but apparently it actually doesn't.)

I confess, I don't much care for AKR in a lot of ways, but I'll be damned if the stuff they showed on the ScrewAttack show wasn't pretty impressive looking for a Fan Project.

Yep, and let's not forget that A.) He's a plagarist who tried to pin his plagarism on an artist he hired who couldn't speak english very well. B.) Those bits don't say anything in the way of story. And C.) It wasn't actually *him* doing the animation work on it.

Quoted for truth.

Unless he somehow gets a professional to go through (AKA work miracles on) his script, I honestly don't see any of this in any completed form as being 'greater than anything Sega can put out'. Beware the lure of shiny appearances (or fancy animation) for they give way to traps from which there is no escape!

Pinning the blame on someone else? So he's already acting like a Hollywood producer!

Seriously, though. "He" wasn't doing the animation? Then who was it?

I'm telling you what he said. Whenever the DVD pirating (of rips that he didn't even make and that were available for free) came up who would go "BAAWWW I had to pay for film school" but at the same time as this supposed desperation (which he initially credited to a wife that doesn't exist as I recall) he had five hundred dollars to burn on a piece of cloth.

The artist that he hired to do the animation. Oh, he might have storyboarded but he didn't actually go in and draw/animate it himself.

And I don't really find his shameless theft and then attempt to blame it on someone he hired (again, probably because they couldn't speak english that well) that funny really. Rather despicable in fact.

So after reading this thread I did some research on this guy... not a very cool person. Either-way, I followed the links at the top to his youtube page, left a comment on just one of his videos that read something to the effect of: Don't take this guys seriously, his script is a joke, he is only doing it for the publicity, he has a reputation that precedes him. I wish I still had exactly what I wrote, but he deleted the video so no one else could see the comment. I have never seen anyone do that before, the video was just gone when I woke up this morning. You think I touched on a sensitive spot?

Possibly. I dunno why he'd delete the whole video when I'm sure he has the power to simply delete the comment, but somehow it doesn't seem terribly uncharacteristic of him either.

Well, it's just this unspoken rule of shady people I've know who worked in television: "Always have someone to blame" (although they didn't stay in the business for very long ).

I do find his actions shameful, but I also find it very odd (and almost amusing) that he would only learn that rule in the industry as opposed to all the others that make him appear somewhat professional. He's not gonna get far with that attitude.

I also commented, although on a less harsh note. I said that I highly doubted he could pull the entire project off and that I would eat my hat if he ever turned out a half decent product. That comment is now gone and the only ones I see are those of praise and awe. Though, it doesn't take much internet research to see that AKR likes to bask in the praise of his 'works' and has a nasty tendency to leave 'anonymous tips' (and then later reveal that it was him, as if to say 'Hey, it was me, I'm the one you should be praising!') about his...well, let's face it, the absolute disaster that Sega is now sending cease and desist letters for. Can we get a collective facepalm for this guy because he obviously has some ego issues...
