Thankfully, the visuals aren't the only good thing about this movie.

Labyrinth - 5.5/10
Watched it with my girlfriend over Skype. She says the last time she saw it, she was sick as hell and on a lot of cold medicine when she first saw it as a kid. I'm not sure, but it might've seemed a better movie if I were high off my ass, as well. The puppets were very good, of course. Very expressive. But who could expect less from Henson? Any seen with Bowie was funny as hell, though. Not a bad movie, and I can see why it has many fans.

I sort of went into this documentary knowing very little about it and expecting a story made to do nothing but tug on the heart strings and offer a bit of a vertical slice of the life of a typical American father.
Going in blind and with the aforementioned incorrect expectations ended up with this film coming closer than any other film I've ever seen to making me cry. It's incredibly heart-wrenching stuff, more impactful than most bona-fide drama films and more authentic as well. Highly recommended.

Plus, don't force opinions.

Don't get me wrong, 2000 is pretty entertaining...but I don't skip any of the original. I skip a lot of 2000. Also most of 2000 felt like they tried to match music to animations, rather than having the music tell them what to draw. It feels like they had the idea but didn't put the effort into it.

The Hunter (2011). A-. The movie was rather good for the most part, but the ending kinda fell apart. The bonus points for freaturing thylacines saves it from being a B.

Life of Brian 4/10
Might have rated it higher if I hadn't heard all of the jokes so many times before, but I felt there was no point in having to watch it when all the funny parts could be condensed into a 5-minute youTube video.

We're probably opposites then: I love Holy Grail (minus the last 15 minutes which was a sloppy ending), since every new scene offers something to truly laugh yourself silly over. I didn't get that with Life of Brian.
Maybe it was because everyone hyped it up, and acted in surprise when I said I hadn't seen it before. People would quote it when the subject was ever brought up, so lines like "He's not the messiah..." and the whole Jehovah spiel just didn't have the effect they were supposed to. Next to everything else felt forced and the jokes didn't feel like they were going anywhere.
I haven't seen any of the other Monty Python stuff, and I don't think I'll bother in future. The British comedy scene has much better shows and films to offer in my opinion.
