@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Neon City: C+. A bit too confusing to properly be a B movie. The coherent parts were perty nifty, though.

The Expendables: C

The special effects and action was epic, just the story needed help, I lost interest in it quick.

Gamer: A--. Just too good for me to hit with a B rating... But too much with the sexual stuff for me to rate it as a proper A-... The commentary track is downright hilarious for the most part, though. And there is some cool "the making of" stuff on the DVD, too. As with any creative work, when the creators have fun making it, some of that translates into the product and just seems to give off a nifty feeling that you don't always get from the entertainment industry. This was certainly worth rescuing from the dollar store's bargain bin, but I wouldn't pay non-bargain bin prices for it.

Cannonball Run 2: B+. Some hot cars, some hot women, more stars than you can count, and Jackie Chan beating the crap out of stereotypical Vegas mobsters. James bond wishes he had Jackie Chan's car, too.

Horror of Party Beach 1/10

Fucking terrible movie, the MST3K riffing just barely made it bearable to watch. It's full of pointless party scenes, terrible acting, abysmal writing, shoddy cinematography and one of the most fucking retarded ways to kill the monster. (On par with Slugs) I bet Eli Roth was inspired by this shit what with all the fucking partying.

Skyline. Kind of like Cloverfield without the clever script or the shaky cam. It's shit.

The last 2 movies I saw were The Mummy (1999) and Cahill (John Wayne).

I Think the mummy did very good. I think though they introduce too many characters just to have them killed off though. And Cahill was good, but it ended way to fast. The dramatic final gun fight barely lasted 30 seconds. Most wasted talking.

At the risk of sounding like an absolute douche, I thought that movie was just so lame. Maybe it's just because I was forced to watch it, against my will. Seeing the bunch of old guys trying to look like "I've still got it!" really remind me of, well...

Poltergeist. I finally saw this classic horror, and while I wasn't scared, it was an ok watch. I guess I'd give it a B or something... Also, Coach (Craig T Nelson) was kind of hot when he was younger O.o (at least my demented mind thought so) The short ghost-cleanser lady made me lol. (yay for short people!)

I still want to see (in theaters) Megamind and Unstoppable. *shakes fist* I wish there was a theater with weekday matinees closer than a half hour away from me! >< Our local theater only plays matinees on weekends and I work those...

Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006)

The fuck did I just watch? I mean, I knew it would be bad, but it feels like the makers just used the NotLD title to sell more copies! Still, at least I didn't watch the 3D version.

No rating for this shit pile.
'Star Wars' is my story, just like my house is my house. So if I wanna paint my house green, even if everyone else thinks it should be red, guess what? I'm gonna paint it Jar Jar! - George Lucas

"The Devil Inside is the new scam from director William Something Something. The movie stars actors and was edited on a computer. Somewhere. This movie is the latest film in a series of very low budget films designed to look like real movies! And be released in theaters to make a quick buck via a horribly off kilter budget to profit ratio that the general public seem to be stupidly unaware of! These films use to be called 'direct to video' but now they are called 'first run features'. These films then vanish from the theaters, like a rapist leaving the scene of a crime." - Mike Stoklasa of RedLetterMedia

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Very well done. This movie really set the mood for the final chapter of an amazing series. I would say that the movie kept withing about 75-90% of the book. Yeah, they had to take some stuff out, but there's no way any movie can stay 100% true to the book, not remove anything, and keep it at a decent length while having theatrical appeal. I only wish that they had
Spoiler:
prolonged the fight at Malfoy Manor a little bit. I always figured the first movie would climax with that fight and end after Dobby's death. It would've been much more dramatic if they had spent maybe 3-5 more minutes on that scene and really played it out.
Other than that there's not much I had against the movie. They didn't completely butcher parts of it like Half Blood Prince did. Well done and I can't wait to see the last one! 8.5/10

The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

This one left me a little less fulfilled than Harry Potter did. Fox took a few too many creative liberties in my opinion. However, I must look at this movie from a cinematic point of view. In all honesty, I believe that had this movie been made 100% from the book it would've lost much of its cinematic appeal. The action sequences they added really made the movie come alive so I can't really discredit them for making those changes.
Spoiler:
I would've liked to see more of Eustace after he changed back to a human. It's too bad they waited til the end of the movie to change him back. The scene I really hated to see changed was when Aslan actually turned him back to human. There was so much lost and I thought there was a great moral to be learned with the way Lewis wrote it.
Again, overall this was a great movie. I prefered Prince Caspian but, then again, I liked Prince Caspian the book better than Voyage the book. 7/10

This was a fun week, watching two movies from two of my favorite book series. Overall I was very happy with them. There's some good movies coming out for a change, it's about time!

I wrote this review for 2001: A Space Odyssey, and another one for Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone.

In short:
2001: ASO is stunning and very strong both visually and thematically, but if one isn't that impressed with the strong photography the pacing will get on one's nerves. Anyone with any interest in film history, sci-fi, or intellectual works should probably watch it, though.

Evangelion 1.11 is a great animated film, but mainly by the default of the original TV show episodes it was based upon. The above link also has a comparative essay between the movie and the TV series.
I believe in what I want to believe in, you believe in what you want to believe in, so when someone wants to believe in something, no one will know what to believe!
Believe it or not...
