@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Just saw a commercial for the new Terminator movie. Looks to me like it could be interesting. No doubt, some of y'all probly won't agree... But not everyone has as good a taste in movies as I do... I wouldn't go as far to say that it's goinna be a good movie, but it certainly looks like it won't suck. Since it costs 2-3 times more to see a movie in the local theaters than to get the DVDs, it seems that I've got another DVD to wait around on...

Projection: If Intruder Organsim reaches civilized areas...

Entire world population infected 2,7000 hours from first contact.

Here's my experience with the first Transformers:

------------------------------------------------
"Oh... Micheal Bay. Yeah, it's gonna be dumb."

*watches movie*

"Ooh! Explosions! Cool! Awesome! Robot! Wow! Something else blew up!"

*creates a list of things that make it a poor movie*

"Lots of near plot holes. Poorly handled exposition. Shallow characters. Overly broad performances..."

*rents it on DVD*

"Ooh! Explosions! Cool! Awesome! Robot! Wow! Something else blew up!"

*creates a list of things that explain why Micheal Bay is a poor director*

"The man uses explosions to hide the fact he can't tell a good story. Needless blocking for the sake of more explosions. (the bus on the highway, for example)..."

*buys it on 2-disc DVD*

"Ooh! Explosions! Cool! Awesome! Robot! Wow! Something else blew up!"
------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I've done that with every Micheal Bay film. The guy's an awful filmmaker, but I can't seem to stay away from his movies.

HOLY FRIGGIN' COW! I must be going blind or something. Sorry about that, folks. I should probably sleep more or something...

Yes, I remember that movie trailer. You're right, Chaosmaster8753. Micheal Bay is NOT involved.

The movie looks like it's gonna be interesting. The effects look pretty cool, and you can see how the environment is on the verge of turning into the flash forwards you see of the war with the machines in the first two Terminator movies, so it looks like it's another bridge to the T-800 being sent back in time. I wonder if Conner will be able to stop the Terminator robots from going back in time in the first place.

I know we're just talking about the movie itself, but there was some huge conflict between Christian Bale and the Director of Photography that occurred on the set of Terminator Salvation. The language is pretty vulgar, for those of you who have virgin ears. It caught my eye because I was trying to avoid similar situations on some of a video project I was working on.

I just wanna see this scene:

John Connor: Dude, I have a very important task for you.

Kyle Reese: Sure!

John Connor: To ensure that I exist, you need to go back in time to stop the terminator...and bang my mom.

Kyle Reese: umm...

For some reason I'm imagining that scene being read by Bill & Ted.

Anyway, I'm gonna reserve full judgment until I see it. I've seen some extended trailers and they can be misleading. Plus Terminator 3 wasn't all that good. Okay it was terrible. But maybe a (would it be considered a prequel given that although the first movie was based in 1984 the Terminator came from the futur–never mind) story explaining the backstory behind the rise of the machines will give it a fresh feel without it just being Arnie vs Next Gen Terminator.

I think they should have done something like this instead of what they did with terminator 3, which just felt like a rehash of the others. That way, this could act as a prequel (even though it takes place after the others?) and the story could still technically end on a high note with terminator 2.

Also, any new villian they introduce can never compare to the T-1000, who still frightens me to this day.

That's kind of the point. The thing with temporal paradoxes like this is that eventually a sequel will also function as a prequel.

I wouldn't say terrible... "Not good" is a better description. But it's still a half-fun movie.

I grew up with this so it's something I'll see at some point. Yes, it's really hard to impress me. I know we should get our ideas produced but it would probably look different on screen.

Haha! I saw that on some film forum. The beat's not half bad (at least it wasn't put to the "This is Sparta Remix" like everything else out there). What's sad is that someone probably had a too much time on their hands to do it.

Looking forward to this.

Say FreakyFilmFan, what do you think of Roland Emmerich? he's easily comprable to Michael Bay. RE is the director of "Independence Day", "Stargate", "The Patriot" (Mel Gibson), "Day After Tommorow", "Universal Soldier", "10000 BC" and the 1985 Cult fave "Making Contact (a.k.a. Joey)"?

Yeah, you're totally not egging me on. I don't even know if this is the proper topic for it, but apperently that didn't stop my Michael Bay rant above. So here it goes anyway...

Whereas Roland Emmerich is similar to Michael Bay, Roland strikes me more as a modern day version of Ed Wood. Although that might be a little unfair, since The Patriot was a pretty good movie (and maybe even Independence Day). Every one of his other films were poorly executed ideas for the sake of special effects that always seemed second rate for it's time anyway. Jurassic Park had better CGI than Godzilla (1998), and Twister had better effects than The Day After Tomorrow. And both those Emmerich films are more recent than the older, more photo-realistic looking films I compared them to. And of course every cheesy line and corny character that has been or has yet to be written needs to be put in most of his films. I'm waiting to someday see strings holding up little 5-inch spaceships in front of his camera in one of his movies. How this man finds work after people actually see his films is beyond me.

Now for some topic related material. How many people heard that the ending of Terminator Salvation was leaked, and that the ending was changed due to that leak?

Gosh, wouldn't it be strange if Terminator Salvation ended in the same was the first Terminator film began?

Ed Wood rules. I'm a proud owner of a glorious boxset. The thing about his "bad" movies is that they have a cult following because they're actually pretty fun to watch, unlike many modern "bad" movies which are just plain bad.

True. They are fun to watch. So maybe it's just unfair to Ed Wood to be compared to Roland Emmerich. I mean, Roland has never had a cult following like this before.

Have you seen Roland Emmerich's earlier German works like "The Noah's Ark Principle" or "Making Contact (a.k.a. Joey)"? two nice cult favorites from germany. "Noah's Ark Principle" is a fascinating early and very expensive Student Film about a futuristic global disaster that will happen like Noah's Ark. It won for best student film in 1984 in Berlin then he later made his debut in 1985 with "Joey" (a.k.a. Making Contact) which is a fascinating and very dark yet endearing horror supernatural fantasy modern fairy tale inspired by the works of George Lucas, the Grimms Brothers stories and even "The Twilght Zone" TV show. It's about a 9 year old boy who's dad just died recently as later he discovers he has telekinetic powers and psychic abilities as he can make his toys including Star Wars Toys come to life and can even communicate with his dead father on a toy phone. He becomes an outcast at school cause they think he's nuts, one day he finds a creepy ventriloquist dummy in a old abandoned mansion that belong to a famous magician. He takes it home with him only that later he discovers it's possessed by a demon with powers like Joey's only stronger as it terrorizes the boy and threatens his mother, friends, enemies, teacher and city with demons from another dimension as the boy is the only one to stop this evil force.

It's highly underrated and well done stuff as it's perhaps Emmerich's best movie that isn't from Hollywood. Has some suprisingly good acting even from the main child lead who is quite talented for a first time 9 year old Joshua Morrell who is better then Anakin Skywalker from Episode I and has a nice not-too-sugar coated fairy tale element to it with darkness included like the dummy trying to stab Joey's mother. It's perhaps Emmerich's only movie where he cares about characters and stories rather then the special effects which are they quite good for it's time the 80's and is an imaginative fable that has gained a cult following, it's definitely his only cult movie.

To watch it, check it out in it's uncut extended German version with subtitles on Youtube:
