Judge Dredd Movie is Green Lit!

Rebellion and 2000 AD are proud to announce that Judge Dredd is coming to a cinema near you soon!
Together with DNA Films, the movie production company behind such great sci-fi movies such as Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, Judge Dredd will go into production in 2009.

Stallone's film hilariously misses the whole point and pretty much blindly supports a fascist police state, and in the details just generally isn't faithful to the source material. I'm guessing reboot would be a better term for this new film if all goes as well as it seems to be going and 2000 AD is more involved/has more of a say this time around.
(This was also found at aintitcool the other day btw, the original reason I was there when I found out about the New Dr. Who from the other topic.)
