@  furrykef : (25 July 2015 - 03:35 AM)

When was that? Depending on when it was, it might have been a DNS issue. Those should be gone now.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 10:10 PM)

Red said he couldnt get one

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

Thank you for commenting, Silicate.

The input from multiple sources was fun, and very spontaneous. It makes everyone feel included as well, and spawns some form of creativity in young minds, and I like attempting to inspire the little tykes around me with art.

As for the feathered edges, I naturally feel more relaxed when drawing landscapes or backgrounds. I don't really know why. That's what accounts for the feathered lines. It also helps me to not get all hung up worrying about how straight the lines are on the architecture. When the architecture is the main focal point of the picture, I do spend a little more time on it. But feathering the background kinda makes the characters stand out more; like a cel animated show when the characters drawn on cels are up against pastel backgrounds. It helps out the focus on the characters.

Something I did in about three hours before I forgot it. I've been going though this huge creative phase. It generally happens every Fall for me. This time I had an idea for a web comic series that I'd like to do. I'm going to incorporate many different drawing styles to define the features of different characters. Some will look like silly Chuck Jones characters, others like dark DC comic characters, ect. It's whatever design fits that character's personality best, and then throwing all of those characters in the same world and watching their visual designs and personalities clash.

These characters are from the Anime/Manga culture:

The girl's name is Emiko Kôchi. I took the first name from the female lead character in Gojira (1954) (or Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which ever title is more recognizable to you), and the last name from the Japanese actress whom played her.

It's going to be fun to see her cute, Japanese personality try to interact with the darker DC Comic-esque characters. Floating next to her is her Imaginary Friend. Emiko is the only one who can see her imaginary friend, but that doesn't mean it's not real. After all, the absence of proof is not the proof of absence. tongue.gif

There will be other characters, and I might post those later on. But I really need to get the ball rolling on the script for a sci-fi short film of mine if I want a February shooting schedule.

More commentary on the deviantART page.

It's been a while since I've updated. I've been busy with a LOT of other things. I'm working with a friend of mine for an animated Flash video Christmas special for his web comic. And I'm also still writing the script for the sci-fi zombie short film.

But in the midst of this craziness, I managed to find time to vent on the Twilight "saga".

More commentary on my Deviant Art. But in short, I was tired of Twilight removing the original metaphor of vampires being dangerous sexual predators. (Or maybe it keeps it and condones Bella becoming one anyway.)

^Thanks for that. I've being waiting for some new Twilight parodies...I'm not a big fan of the series persay. They give vampires like Dracula a bad name. Too bad my little niece is into it.

I agree. My all time favorite vampire movie is the silent film Nosferatu.

Films like this need to be made again. And vampires need to stop being marketed only to teen girls.

Greetings, FreakyFilmFan. It's good to visit your thread again.

I was looking at your concept picture of Emiko, and I thought I would offer my thoughts. First, by and far I am no person who is familiar with Anime-style artwork in the least. But my thoughts are that your light lineweight style adds to her equivalent lightness of personality. One gets an excellent sense of energy from the picture, and I find that your use of the unified lines of her pose (such as in the placement of her arms and lower legs) and the gentle pastel coloration lend an air of both direction and calm. The only thing I find minorly akward about the picture is that in her pose she is not directly seated on the ground, but suspended somwhat - which is accurate, but largely only whilst someone is balanced on their hands and feet, or otherwise in the process of getting up, or leaning back.

Now, as for your Twilight-parody work, I am not familiar with Twilight either, and I was sure to stay far away from it upon first hearing of it. My primary amusement comes from the note of the V-8, which I also jokingly call 'blood-drink' for it's strong flavours and rather cupric taste. The rest of the context of the image is rather lost on me, but it's amusing to see it lampooned anyhow. tongue.gif I also smirk at the inclusion of the 'pretty-boy sparkles,' and it makes me wonder just when sparkles came to become included as marks of some sort of desirability or perfection?

Thank you for showing your work here, FreakyFilm! I do wish you earnest luck in your ongoing productions. (Now, if only I had time to make such ample progress with my own sketching...)

It makes 'em easier to snipe in the dark. Rifle scopes typically don't like to work properly in low-light conditions.

@ Silicate: Thank you for your comment about both of my works of art. As for the position of Emiko, I kinda shrug it off by saying "She's a happy, bouncing little girl, anyway. Of course she'd sit like that. She's probably fidgeting." When in all actuality I shaded a little to far with a black color pencil, and I find those pencils difficult to erase. As a result, I don't even attempt erasing it. But it's nice to build a character in such a way where you can blame any slight peculiarities like that on the character itself. ("It's all HER fault!" *points accusingly at Emiko*)

Haha! You are SO blessed to not have seen Twilight. My sisters forced me to watch it. The sparkling character depicted is actually the main vampire character in the movie. The 'pretty-boy sparkles' thing actually came from Twilight itself. Apparently vampires don't burn in the sunlight... they just glitter like that.

I almost broke the TV upon seeing that, first for realizing that they ruined the perception of vampires for modern audiences, and then again upon realizing that the movie would have been over by now if the vampire had just burnt up when he was supposed to.

I know there are a few of you who couldn't care less about Anime, and I can understand that. As much as I like the good examples of Anime, it's not hard to dig up butt-loads of Anime that seem childish, simplistic, cheap, or just really creepy examples of fan-service. (And no, KorbenDallas. I am not referring to Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend. smile.gif )

Well, I though the same for a while, until I saw some choice Anime. And I was won over. I still don't like Anime simply because is animation from Japan. I'm just interested in the ones that tell a good story and plot in a way that is entertaining and/or thought provoking. And I believe Neon Genesis Evangelion to be one of those Animes.

If it looks a tad unfinished, that's because it is. I'm not rushing through this. Basically, I'm adding to this every time I need to relax from work and preparing props and re-writing the script for my upcoming sci-fi short film.

Front and center of the illustration stands what is labeled in the Anime as "Evangelion Unit 01". It looks like a robot, but it's actually a giant synthetic humanoid that is used as a metaphor to religion, relationships, and puberty throughout the series. And they don't battle monsters or demons. Instead their enemies are labeled "Angels", and most of these Angels in the series can also be considered metaphors to the same issues mentioned above. This illustration depicts the Angel "Sachiel" cowering in the bottom right corner of the page in the last few moments of it's life.

Hm... I should probably dip back into Sonic related material after this one. I haven't created one in quite a while.

I started this drawing while supervising kids at my local church. (That's how I generally get most of my drawings started.) I really wanted to pay extra attention to the detail on the head of the subject and spend time exploring all of its nooks and crannies.

More commentary on my DeviantART page if anyone cares to read it.

And yet another non-Sonic related bit of art. *shame* Seriously, Sonic needs to be doing SOMETHING on this thread pretty soon. Maybe I should start a contest of sorts...

The top drawing was a rather relaxing piece to work on. I woke up one morning and thought I needed to draw someone else wearing my sunglasses. (Those have to be the best sunnies I've ever bought, style-wise!) And there aren't too many other things more relaxing then laying in the sun.

With the bottom drawing, I was simply playing around with my scanner's settings and decided I liked the threshold effect caused by scanning only the black and white colors. It really gives the piece a different overall texture.

More commentary on drawing one and two on my Deviant Art page.

Now as for this SatAM Sonic picture I've never gotten around to drawing, why not I just ask for suggestions? If any of you can think of something you want to see Sonic doing, post it here on this thread. Seriously, anything. It doesn't even need to deal with Sonic, it just needs to be a SatAM universe drawing, since I really haven't done one of those in a while. It can be as violent/moody/romantic/ect. as you want it to be. I just respect Sonic's privacy, so no pornographic suggestions, please.
