@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

I don't feel like fully reviewing this because I'm pretty tired, but I'll give you some of my thoughts on this. I should be slapped in the face because despite being alive for 21 years, I saw Total Recall in it's entirety for the first time just now. I first saw bits of this movie back in 93' or 94' on HBO through my dad's cheater box and only really remembered the club scenes featuring that chick with the three boobs. I decided to rent this last night at the local Family Video and boy am I glad I watched this!!

I loved Total Recall from beginning to end; the action scenes kicked ass and the story really makes you think about many themes, particularly reality vs delusion. Also, the ending is really good in that it technically doesn't tie up all of the loose ends, but is satisfying at the same time. There's a good amount of plot twists but they aren't done to the point where you're thinking to yourself "This is a bunch of pretentious bullshit, this movie sucks!!" At the "key moment" where Doug goes to Rekall to get a similation as a secret agent on Mars killing the bad guys and nailing the babe of his dreams; I thought it would just be him finding out who the bad guys are, killing them, and fucking his dreamgirl. Boy was I wrong, I honestly wasn't expecting the amount of complexity throughout the movie's actions, particularly Doug's relationships between Lori and Melina. One of my favorite parts has to be where Doug and Melina were trapped in the mine and Benny tries to kill them with a giant mining rig. Doug grabs a man-portable drill and severs the power to the drills and eventually drills his way through the rig's cab and kills Benny with the drill. So far, Paul Verhoeven's filmography has pleased me (the other movie of his I've seen is Robocop), I'll check out Basic Instinct (1992) the next time I go to Family Video.

In short, if you love action-filled thought-provoking dystopian sci-fi flicks, Total Recall won't disappoint.

"Screw YOU Benny!" -sorry, couldn't resist X3. Not really that big a fan of the film myself, but I haven't seen it in a few years so can't say that much about it.

The short story was better. I read that for a class. It was called "We can remember it for you wholesale" and the story was just better, and well, the movie did not need to be as long as it was. Its like they took a story about a guy walking to the mall, and turned that walk into a fancy stroll with pits of action, when it was not needed. Not at all. It is just like the cat and the hat movie. I hate it when hollywood takes a short piece of fiction and tries to stretch it out beyond what the story originally intended to say.

Thank you! Someone else agrees with me that is not a good film! When it comes to adaptions it is better to only see or read the story. Doing both only makes you hate one version more then the other. However, there is one adaption I do like: The Lawn Mower Man. The only reason I happen to like that film is because I saw the film WAY before I ever knew of the short story, and even then the story had so little to do with the movie I hear the author never wanted his story to be linked to film at all. So in a way it is kinda not an adaption.

"Open your mind... open your mind."

But good movie nonetheless.

It's still a funny movie whether you take it seriously or not. My brother bought it for DVD and I noticed long before that the Captain is Gul-Dukat.

'See you at the party, Richtar'. *Cohegan's left-hand man if there is such a thing?*

We did have a post a couple years ago where you list your favorite movies and categorize them. I'd say Total Recall is B+.

I've known this movie since I was a kid. The exploding head used to disturb me... It's a good, solid, fun action/sci-fi movie for those of us who like that kinda movie. I made sure to snag a copy after I got a DVD player. And yes, the 3-breasted chick perverted a generation of us...

Projection: If Intruder Organsim reaches civilized areas...

Entire world population infected 2,7000 hours from first contact.

Spoiler.

Read at own risk.

Not after she gets shot in the back and falls down.

I brought over Total Recall at my best friend's New Years Eve party and everyone there was hooked on it. I almost feel like typing an in depth glowing review of it and sending it to Amazon.
