@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

lo and behold

I never expected Yahtzee to review Sonic Unleashed, but I couldn't help but laugh at how much he bashed it. Has anyone here actually played it? Whether you have or not, what are your opinions on this and Sonic's continuing downward spiral in the video gaming realm?

I knew the concept of a "werehog" was going to be shit before I even got the game. I'm glad people reviewed it before I wasted my money on giving it chance. It would have turned out as tragic (actually more) as buying Need For Speed ProStreet. Sure, ProStreet may not have been REALLY bad though it still sucked, but the fact everyone hates it makes it hard for the unfortunate sucker to get rid of it except in a shredder. I stopped buying the Sonic games after Secret Rings and unless something spectacular happens that makes the games OMG AWESOME again...no. No sir, not for me. Not getting 'em.

God forbid that Sega's going to be making Sonic a knight next. The last few Sonic games should have told them their ideas are shit. They just don't get it.

I played one of the first Daytime stages in a local Gamestation in town and while I rather enjoyed it, I still laughed my bum off at that review. Good ol' Yahtzee.

Everyone that defends the game, only really played the Demo. Not saying you, Professor, but my point still stands.
The Sonic Stages can be a blast. Sadly, it takes 3-5 minutes to beat them, and then your thrown into 1-2 Werehog stages, which I have had go up to 45 minutes to complete. Every time it makes you yearn for more Sonic stages.
It's like SEGA figured no one liked the latest Sonic games, so it made the Werehog stages in an attempt to make us actually think "WOW, I MISS PLAYING AS SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!".

I guess I am in the minority here, but I actually like the game, quite a lot actually, the graphics and music are superb, the art style is pretty interesting but not silly and ridiculous like Sonic Heroes, except maybe the final stage, which is completely...strange.

The Daytime Sonic gameplay is pretty damn fun, best of any 3D Sonic game I've played, the story is the game's biggest weak point, although it has some humor to keep it from being too tedious...

The Werehog is not nearly as bad as everyone says if you ask me, especially once you learn some of the better combo moves. True they are inferior to the day gameplay, but the game is still at least worth a rent for anyone curious, however I bought it and if I could go back and do it again I would (and I haven't been able to say that with pretty much any console Sonic game in years).

It isn't perfect...but its pretty good, I'd give it an 8/10 myself.

Holy crap!! Never in my life have I seen anyone bash a game like that before, I'm actually glad I didn't buy Unleashed, because of the whole were-hog thing. I was nearly laughing my ass off in that review, but yeah, wow, talk about bashing a game hard!

As funny as that review was (and it really, really was), it bothers me that this game is getting such a bad rep when it doesn't deserve it! The game is fun! I haven't had this much fun with a Sonic game since I first played Sonic Adventure back in '99...

And just so everyone knows, I am talking about the 360 version, I cannot judge the Wii version as I haven't played it.

Really? I kinda figured he'd review one at some point, he mentioned/alluded to it (in reffering to Sonic games in general as an example) in his pro-cynicism review on modern game systems. Yahtzhee is I think hands-down the best humours video game reviewer on the net at the moment, I mean I still like the Nerd and everything, but Yahtzee's just plain more funny (don't watch too many of his video's in the same sitting though X3) people who think this review was good should watch some of his others

I'm pretty sure Yahtzee's talking about the PS360 version too; I know he uses the Wii boxart throughout the review, but the Hub World he describes isn't in the Wii version (thank goodness!).

I expected him to hate it (as he almost always does), yet yeah, it surprised me that Yahtzee tore into it as hard as he did... but somehow I didn't laugh as much as I normally do in his reviews... maybe because I took it personally when he pasted Sonic Adventure 2 as a bad game and again when he declared Sonic officially dead. And taking it personally is something you should never do when listening to Yahtzee.

I was never going to buy the game. I was turned off the moment they showed the run-run-run-and boost 2D gameplay (If they want to do that sort of stuff... then they should've just made Sonic Rush 3), and retooled the 3D sections to be all but Secret Rings-ishly on-rails (SatSR is the first Sonic game that I've played that I did not want to complete). But there's something nagging me that I want to understand, though. It's the disparity between a lot of fans and professional reviewers. Reviewers treat it as Sonic 2006 all over again, while, from what I can tell on the fansite forums, the fans for some reason actually like it for the most part. What are the fans seeing that reviewers aren't? What are the reviewers seeing that the fans aren't?

Another thing that boggles me: It is said amongst most fans that the PS360 version is better because it has more stages and a better balance of hedgehog/werewolf levels... yet somehow, the Wii version is getting higher scores from reviewers?

Once again, Yahtzee parallels my eternal skepticism for videogames, which usually ends up being true with this generation.

No...No any Sonic game after Sonic 2 deserves it. Fuck,... Anything Sonic these days deserves to get shot.

I liked Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I haven't played much after that except Sonic Heroes for around 10 minutes.

Quite a funny review this one, I haven't ever seen this guy's reviews before.

Is that supposed to be a bad pun or something? But yes, Sonic and the Black Night will probably prevail in most of our expectations and turn out like crap. Let's tally another one for Sonic Team and Sega, shall we?

I think if they just took a look at the earlier games, namely the level design, and made a 3D 2D scroller...
Imagine if Sonic 3 & Knuckles was released this gen. Same gameplay, but next gen graphics.
It would fuckin' ROCK.

Well, I mean I know it will suck. But I wonder if it will suck worse than I expected.
