@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Hmm... sounds like a good idea to me

I'm curious about your plans for the RPG. Any threads/websites I could check for more info, or is it to early for that?

Ummmmmm.....I believe we have a website we're starting up, but I don't think it quite has information of our plans on it yet. We've got some ideas about the story, but we're still brainstorming it.

Yes, there is a website coming up. I'm building it as we speak (actually, I took a day or so off..). Lots of multitasking going on over here, so progress is random atm. We 'technically' could get a front page set up right now, with articles containing any info desired... only we really haven't finalized our latest ideas, and need the site to be completed first (to facilitate discussion of said ideas).

Tyrone's been doing a great job busting his ass off on the project site, even while the project lead and myself are laughing at some of the details of his work. (*cough* banner *cough*) But yes, we're thankful Tyrone. And yes, LOTS of brainstorming going on story-wise, but right now it's only a skeleton compared to what the final product should be. All in all, a lot of stuff going on, but pray for our success!

*sigh*... yes, the banner... I intend to fix those 'discrepancies' before the main domain gets configured... because some individuals have a knack for reading too much into things ( Ahem... ). Oh well. At least the pencil thing is trivial.

I'll have to find some way to balance my time however, I've got like 5 projects underway, counting my upcoming work on the engine.

I would be more than happy to spare my extra time. My friend an I run a web site, so web site dev is something i am alright at. I am alright with SQL or Javascript if its of any service. Beyond that my coding skills are limited. While i like to sketch/doodle my artistic skills probably are not good enough. But like I said web dev if you need help PM me. I know I am new around here, but college has been gracing me a lot of time to do to things I want to do, so here I am.

Well, I'm coding it in PHP. Javascript could be useful however, I'm refactoring an old application I had designed a year or so ago, and this is actually going fairly well. As for layout, its mostly already done... although I'm sure it can be improved. At the moment, I'm converting the code into class based nodes for automatic generation. The aim is to have a tightly integrated core, forum/gallery/articles/profile.. with easy to extend modules. Its mostly just a huge pain to get my intricate permissions system going. One the admin tools are done, it will be simple.

Thanks for offering though. I'll send you the testing address so you can comment.

Just spent time digesting everything thats been said in this thread. I have gather you have your sights set nice and high trying to make a good looking RPG similar to oblivion/FA3 (good choice in RPGs). I did notice anything about modeling though. From the choice of the OGRE engine i gather this is going to be 3d and not a 2d game. I am assuming you will be using Maya, 3ds Max or something similar. I would love to know when you decide or what you have already decided to use. I have spent time learning the basics of Maya in the past, and with a decent excuse and proper motivation could continue learning it.

We (Our lone dev TechnicalyCorrect...) are going with a homebrew engine. Yesterday actually saw the prototyping of a particle editor (we're getting a toolset with time). Ogre was a suggestion, but we'll not be using it. Physx will be integrated as our physical simulator. As for modeling, we are using blender, although one of our artists is running an old version of maya and exporting to the .obj format. You're welcome to submit some basic examples of your work, whether its modeling/animating/rigging/level-design.

I'm sure the team would encourage you to at least try out and see if a niche can be found.

Any and all help is appreciated if this project is to become reality. And yes, because blender seems to be the preferred modeling software on the team (probably having something to do with the fact that it's free and Maya, to the extent of my knowledge, isn't) it might be worthwhile trying to learn it. With all the tutorials, documentation, and forum support, it's getting easier to jump into blender. That and you would have Tyrone, Ironrind, and myself to bombard you with a useless cache of information should you get stuck...assuming we somehow had the time and Tyrone was actually on more than once a week!

And yes, our lone developer is braving the C++ storm and creating an awesome game engine. I've only tested a basic pre-alpha demo of his engine but found that it works solid and have confidence in his abilities to get us to the final product. (Tyrone, are we putting a particle editor into the map editing kit or am I missing something here?)

Anyway, long rant short, good project, need help, got a headache from thinking this out!

I may not be 'online' as often as usual, but considering how useless 90% of that chatter is, I still manage to be on top of things tongue.gif. The particle editor is a standalone at last glance, with its own file type. And yes, blender is the best supported option, however, ironrind is using maya, so you wouldn't be alone in that. At any rate, so long as you can export to the .obj format (maya can), then there is no reason to worry. It only means that post-processing of the model needs to be done blenderside.

Edit: Besides, I'm the one who gets stuck with patching together all of the various dev departments .
