Sonic & Sally!
"During a mission against Robotnik with Sonic and Bunnie, Sally is captured and held prisoner in Robotropolis, while Robotnik switches her with an advanced robotic duplicate, with the intention if spying on the Freedom Fighters, roboticizing Princess Sally, and finding Knothole Village. While somewhat suspicious of the "new" sally's behaviour, most of the Freedom Fighters shrug it off as stress from her nearly being captured. Only Tails knows the truth, but will Sonic and the others believe him, and be able to save Princess Sally before she's roboticized?"

-the relationship of Sally and Tails was very sweet. The idea of the freedom fighters as a close knit family was really highlighted here.
-the scene where Ant accidently pulls off Bunnie's arm was cute, though I kinda wish more was done with it. I wonder if that happens often for her?
-the Sally bot itself is interesting, I know at least a couple fanfics have brought it up. Makes me wonder if the freedom fighters could find more uses for it, I know Ant could think of a few.

Bunnie gets some nice highlights here too, rescuing Sonic and getting her little speech about heart at the end. I used to think it was odd that she came into focus like that so suddenly, but in recent viewings it doesn't bother me, I guess because it's just nice to see her take center stage for once.
I also enjoyed all the little things about the episode: Sonic's false start at the Lake of Rings, Ant being courteous and trying to help Bunnie out of the hay pile, and of course, the "Funny Kiss" and its role in the story. So yes, good stuff all around.

Yeah, if they would've harnessed the technology of the bot, they could've made a Sonic one and then... who knows?

>>> Witch relationship? I mean which relationship, not the bedtime story witch. The one with Robot Sally and Tails or the one with the real Sally and Tails? Both were executed/saved perfectly imo. I did write the episode synopsis for this years ago so I should know. They make much use of technology in this one. Probably the most for season 1. And much of the cast, knothole, and Robotropolis is seen. Definately one of the best of season 1.
>>> Bunnie's arm and legs have constant problems like any machine as well as your body. Does your computer start up slow and need to be defragged every now and then? There's always maintenance issues. And by witnessing the Swatbots slamming into the wall during the opening sequence you can tell Robotnik pinches every piece of metal so it becomes two. Metal is inherently weak in this universe.
>>> Well, anything you can use to your advantage goes without saying. Maybe we could serve up Robotnik some of those dead carrots. They would still be healthier then what he probably eats.
As for me I liked it when Rotor called Robotnik Ironlips that way we know he's aware there's a war and not pacified/indifferent like you might think.

The Fake Sally plot was well executed overall, Bunnie's subplot was a great idea if a tad underdeveloped, but the real reason I loved this episode was Tails. Not only was it great to see him in a substantial role (And help save the day, no less!), but his relationship with Sally was one of my favourite things about SatAM. Heck, it's one of my favourite things about the Sonic franchise, full stop. Aside from making their characters that little bit more three-dimensional, their scenes together were simply adorable. If the Funny Kiss doesn't melt your heart, you obviously don't have one.
Now, if only Robotnik had taken the broken Sallybot and rebuilt it in hedgehog form, we could've had us a Metal Sonic arc.

To be frank, I don't think much thought was put into the episode titles. The ones of the form "[Adjective] Sonic" are particularly confusable.
Anyway, this has been my favorite episode ever since I started watching the crappy RealVideo rips that were on SonicHQ ages ago. (I'd seen SatAM before that, but I didn't really remember complete episodes until then.) I don't really have anything to say about it, it's just awesome.

"[name] and [(the) object, person, quest, etc.]" is a typical cartoon episode/animated movie title setup. "Sonic & the Sallybot" might've scared off some of the younger viewers at the time...
Also, Robotnik DID get close to Knothole a couple of times. Snively actually found it once (and lost it).
As to the Sallybot... I also think it would've been nice to have it hanging around. I don't think the Freedom Fighters would have the proper technology to give it a biological (or biological-looking) coating to look like Sonic (Robotnik used the Roboticiser to do this with Sally). More likely, they'd use it as a decoy/guard for their missions and as an extra worker/guard for Knothole. And there would be the occasional times when Ant would mistake it for Sally.
I like the episode, itself, too. Apart from the Sallybot, it also shows that not all of Robotnik's machines and stuff work properly (or that they're being overworked) and tend to break down. I don't remember very many cartoon villians' high-tech stuff blowing fuses and whatnot.

Sally wasn't a bad idea so overall pretty good for the most part.

It was plain to see why Pat Allee & Ben Hurst were chosen to write the stories for the 2nd season. This was by far the best episode of the 1st season. The characters and the bonds that they share are broken down to their basic elements, and almost everyone is given a chance to shine. Sonic & Sally’s feelings for each other are present without any need for witty banter, and the parent-child relationship between Sally and Tails shows her maternal instinct and his childlike innocence, right down to that "funny kiss".
(Side note: While I'll save my favorite moments of dialogue for the Wiki, let's just say that they're... cozy.)
